Diana Krall sings previously-unreleased McCartney song
-
McCartney doing McCartney, not long as exciting and interesting as his recent Billboard collaborations, but it's still yet another later day, 'Chaos And Creation'-like, darker, melancholic McCartney-composition, another song which could have upped the output on 'New'. Enjoyable.
-
Is it me or does it sound a bit like Paul Weller's "You Do Something To Me" ?
-
She does a wonderful job. A good arrangement too. She's a gem.

If I take you home tonight I will think of songs to sing to you Music filled with joy and light If I take you home tonight If I tell you how I feel Would you be afraid and run away I would say my love is real If you let me take you home tonight Oh my love, let me treat you right Let me take you home tonight If you let me take your hand There are places I could bring you to In some unimagined land If you let me take your hand Brilliant song - beautiful soulful melody and tender, elegant, romantic lyrics. Perfect combination with musical arrangement too. I'd like Paul to sing it, though 'Kisses On The Bottom' is a great album, 'Only Our Hearts' - is a wonderful song of Paul, too. Thank you for sharing the links!

Very pretty song. And her voice is just beautiful.
I agree. Too bad you have to buy the entire album to get that song on ITUNES.

Her voice is beautiful but I would love to hear Linda Eder do it.

Maybe they will make each individual song available. I think you can buy one song at a time at NPR. http://www.npr.org/2015/01/25/378576071/first-listen-diana-krall-wallflower#playlist

Thanks for posting the lyrics Lana! I really like your avatar! To me it looks like a couple hugging or kissing in the doorway...

love2travel Glad that you noticed the avatar Your interpretation of this picture is beautiful and interesting. For me the lyrics is very important, I'm always interested in understanding the idea of a song. And for the russian speaking person it's not easy sometimes But in this case it's all quite straight Again, beautiful words of sir Paul.

Maybe you should try again; earlier this week there was only the pre-order for the entire album. But today I could download the individual song.

Krall was interviewed on NPR this morning and they played a bit of this song as well as California Dreamin'. Not sure I'll buy the album, but both are lovely. She spoke very admiringly of Paul.

Still not an option in iTunes U.S. I have another album by her, but the songs here seem mostly obvious and unimaginative, so I don't really want this whole thing.

Paul isn't singing on this therefore I can't like it! I kid! This is a gorgeous song. Why has he not done this song??? Bravo Paul!! And bravo to Diana Krall!
He did a rough demo of it for his KOTB album, but it didn't really fit, so he dropped it. She liked it and asked Paul if she could use it and he approved. I believe that's how it all went down.

This song is now available for individual purchase in the US iTunes store. Hooray!

I like this song alot. It almost feels like a companion song to Scared (which is my fav on New). Not thrilled with David Foster's production, would like a slightly more stripped down feel. But it is a beautiful, meloncholy melody. Well sung by Diana. RamblinRed
-
RamblinRed I feel what you mean with a companion song to 'Scared'...Yes, very beautiful, melancholy melodies. And the first song that came to my mind when I heard the lyrics of 'If I Take You Home Tonight' - was 'Struggle' from New album, because of these lyrics: 'When I get you home, what I wanna do... I can think of something when I get you home tonight' So, the lyrics of 'If I Take You Home Tonight' could be the extra explanation of what the author was thinking to do...

I bought it yesterday. See a couple of posts back. Like others, I also thought of "Scared" when I heard this.

I love this one, too, and agree with the writer who said that they want Paul to sing it. I want Paul to sing it...to me!

Anybody have it in a different format? I can't open the link.
I can't either
