Paul McCartney 2015 Rumors

johnnymain:
According to Hollywood.com, McCartney along with Elton John, Rod Stewart and Vera Lynn are to headline to headline a special concert celebrating the 70th anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE) Day.
The concert has been announced for Saturday May 9th, but no official line up or ticket information yet. The gov.uk website with information about the celebrations for VE day has not included any information yet. I think they will charge money as other events(that are not the normal "free" changing of the guard) has done before. Sounds great!!!!!!!

I had referenced the date on my original post and alluded to the fact these were rumours and nothing has yet been officially confirmed regarding the actual content of the concert. This is definitely not a free event and tickets will be able to be purchased from here once the full details have been announced (the page is not currently active and takes you to the main VE Day page): http://www.gov.uk/veday70

They now confirm the concert will be in the evening and shown on BBC1, but still won't give line up or ticket info yet. https://www.gov.uk/government/news/victory-in-europe-ve-day-celebrations

Yeah, the US definitely has nothing to complain about (as with South America) we all have had plenty of opportunities to see Paul over the past few years. I'm very happy for our brother and sister fans in Europe and Japan getting a little time with the man!! I'm one of those can't wait a year....even after seeing him Valentine's Day, I still booked Liverpool to see him again. I wouldn't look for more than a few more US and that may be a lot. So unlike other years, you see something that gets announced and you can make it, don't wait for something better to come along!

Thanks for the tip! The first "real show" (aside from a festival) that pops up, I'm jumping on board, regardless of location/stadium vs. arena, etc.. Just hoping that a stand-alone show comes along this year.

AS someone who has been fortunate enough to see him multiple times (and got to take my kids the last 2 years) - if he largely sits out the US and does other areas - i'm happy for those fans in the part of the world that get to see him. And while i'll add no one wants to talk about the elephant in the room - he is getting older. How many more years will he be able to mount full tours. Father time is undefeated and at some point he will catch Paul as well. Paul has remained remarkedly healthy for someone of his age - but at some point he will have to slow down (i'm hoping we get another 3 years from him). RamblinRed

It sure looks like he's "slowing down" this summer!

I always had the feeling that last year was gonna be it more or less. With the "iconic" shows scheduled. Japan, SanFran,San Diego. Some of the early shows had to be rescheduled because of illness & he had to extend the season so to speak.

Maybe the illness was a message from above-- don't stop Paul!! But I agree, I think 2014 was supposed to be it. I think it's a high chance that this year could really be it too. Hoping he'll play one more show closer to me. It would make me the happiest person alive But personally I think he can go through 2017. He'll be 75 and I think that's a good time to retire. For him. 10 years late
-
He'll never stop...there will just be less, and less... Whether he should stop or not is a different topic, but as long as the dough is coming in...he'll keep going out there!
-
Cant help but we're entering the period where the next time you see Paul could well be the last,be it to reduced touring, missing your city or well you know what im talking about, but no i agree he wont ever stop but it will get less and less.
-
Last year's illness has nothing to do with the schedule one way or another. A bunch of paranoia spread by insane fans who were mad that they didn't disclose his illness. Quite ridiculous!! As far as slowing down, I think it's way too early to tell, All done and said just what's been announced is 19 shows> it'll be 20 or slightly more with possible additions and that says nothing about the Aug through December. His tours have generally been in the 30's show wise in recent years. We also don't know if he's carving out some recording time or whether he just wants to spend time with Bea and Nancy in the Hampton's. I wouldn't get too concerned yet about numbers of shows. A lot of different reasons can impact that.....and again...last year's illness is not one of them so stop making something out of nothing!
-
I doubt he will make a big retirement announcement. I belive he will keep on touring for as long as he feels healthy and comfortable with his stage performance. Of course there will come a time when he will unfortunately no longer be able to do these 35-song concerts with "Helter Skelter" and fireworks, so we will probably see shorter gigs with songs that are not too demanding on his voice, and a few special charity events in the US/UK. Maybe he will follow in the footsteps of Tony Bennett and we will see a 90-year-old McCartney onstage with a microphone in his hand.
-
Nineteen shows this year is a good number for someone his age who does not need to do any concerts for financial reasons. He may do more later in the year, but if not, he is still clearly on the road.

Nineteen-hundred and eighty five would be better
-
I still think that a few more shows will be announced for 2015... Maybe not many, but there are just a lot of gaps remaining in between shows on his schedule now.

I agree with you totally.

The three festivals are being listed on the website as "summer festivals 2015", separate from Out There.

That's interesting to note! I suspect they'll be slightly shorter editions of the Out There setlist.

Geez Paul, you ignore the US and then the shows you do here are shorter than everywhere else! That's cold, playa!
