I think it's a great price ($50 from Canada after conversion!) for 2 DVDs and 1 CD in Blu-Ray!
So, is the CD remixed in 5.1 surround sound or not? I'm not sure about that......If it's just a stereo "update" that is not what I had in mind. The videos will be great as a companion piece, but..... :

Not the CD. The DVD and Blu-ray will have the 5:1 surround mixes.

On Amazon, where all configurations are available to pre-order, the CD is shown to be remixed/remastered. Is there a difference between just a remix and a remix in 5.1 surround sound??

Yes, the CD will have a new stereo mix, I assume similar to what they did for the Yellow Submarine Songtrack release in 1999. You'll only get the surround mix with the DVD or Blu-ray (at least for now!). To get a sense of how it might sound, I would compare the stereo mix of "Eleanor Rigby" on Revolver with the one on the YS Songtrack; the Revolver mix has a rather inept panning from one channel to another on the "All the lonely people" chorus part.

Is the exchange rate still about $1.65? If so, that's $54.43 (U.S.) Not terrible. "We can rent a cottage in the Isle of Wight if it's not too dear."

Thanks. That's all I needed to know. I love how the songs sound on the"Yellow Submarine Songtrack" album. Every song there sounds vastly superior to the versions of the same songs on the 2009 remasters....to me.

Can I pre-order the Deluxe 2 Blu-ray without the CD please? Rats, it doesn't look like it does it? : And I know Please Please Me wasn't a number 1 but couldn't they have slipped it in between Love Me Do & From Me To You anyway? Just for the sake of completeness? Nope, its buried away on Disc 2, which is a bummer for anyone who only intends to go for the single CD/ dvd (blu-ray) format. But hang on a mo, Penny Lane is on Disc 1 and that didn't make no.1 so why isn't Please Please Me included? I give up !!

"Penny Lane" was number one in the U.S. They used all the number ones from both countries.

Do we really need to rehash track list complaints about an album that came out 15 years ago? How about focusing on all the new content we're getting. By the way, for 50 videos and newly remixed audio tracks, the price of the deluxe set is extremely reasonable.

Well, it was No.1 on one British chart, but not on the one they used to compile the No. 1's in the UK. But....I thought we covered all this 15 years ago... (But, new "members" may be on board now, so.....it's a valid question. Had they included all the No. 1's the group had throughout the world, there would be several others included. The 27 songs for this CD are just those in the U.S. and UK only...depending on the chart one uses to make the compilation. Other songs were released as singles in this or that country and went to No.1 but were not released as singles in the U.S. and/or the UK.)

There was a lot of talk about Please Please Me not being included on 1 when it was released in 2000. Apparently it never made no. 1 in the U.S., and it made no. 1 in 2 of the 3 charts used in the U.K. at the time (or something like that), so the number one was not unanimous. I also agree that $60.00 for the deluxe edition is a bargain!

Yep, because the dvds haven't been out before. And lets face it, its the dvds that we're most interested in. What they should have done was to have created a brand new project (new title etc) and had all the singles (irrespective of chart placing) sequenced in chronological order (ie so they don't have gaps, where the missing singles have been shoved over onto a second disc).

Kestrel, you have hit the nail on the head. Believe I'm not complaining, it is about time we get thee videos, and I can't wait to hear what Jeff Lynne has done with remixing Free As a Bird and Real Love. Conversely, I think that you are right?a new project that collected the singles would have made much more sense, so that the songs and videos could be played chronologically. I've been playing these videos chronologically for years on my Peruvian DVD's and there is nice flow and progression to the whole viewing experience that will feel missed by the way the videos are spread on 2 discs. Having grown up on the Red /Blue albums, I think that "1" having no please please me and strawberry fields by clinging to a criteria does not make it a good intro to the Beatles, although I'm sure many will claim otherwise.

Great idea. I would have loved that. I do want Please Please Me...and Strawberry Fields....and A Day In The Life...videos in Chronological order to see the progression. Actually, I always thought the Red and Blue albums were too limited. Numerous other great songs were left off. Expanding those albums and then matching the songs with film clips would have been great. (Regarding remixing Free As A Bird.....maybe they speeded it up a bit?? That would be nice. )

I agree, but the video for Strawberry Fields is included, right?

On DVD 2 of the Deluxe Box, along with Please Please Me, A Day In The Life, Hey Bulldog, and Free as a Bird among others.

Pathetic, isn't it. While threads concerned with what colour jackets Paul wears or what he's doing on his holidays thrive.
