Tampa, FL - Amalie Arena - July 10th - CONFIRMED
-
Still thinking about our show. Which sounds are still ringing in your mind? I keep hearing the chords for You Won't See Me along with his story.
-
I had second row center last August in Washington. Only had one tall girl in first row giveaway seat to contend with. Yes, the rising stage moves the audience farther awayð??¾Now, every time I watch on periscope or youtube, I have fond memories of my second row center seat. Well worth the money spent.
-
Meant to add that I had originally purchased my ticket for 5th row center from a reputable ticket agency. They surprised me by upgrading me to second row center. An experience I will remember for the rest of my life.
-
My friend Alison from Florida said Paul gave a fantastic show in Tampa and sounded great. She and her hubby are major music buffs with a vast knowledge of music history and lore, and are into all sorts of obscure bands too, especially British from the 60's. So I feel confident going by what she says. He must have been in fine form and with the singing pipes too.

It's not near Chuck Berry 00's territory yet, but I gotta admit I've never seen him taking this long to get back on track after a mess-up. As if he doesn't hear it any more. "It proves it's live, ay!" I must say the band saves BOTR fantastically. It could've been a trainwreck from that point, but everyone was back on track in 4 bars. One of the guys keeps on doing the harmony vocal as if they're 4 bars earlier and is back where McCartney is, Rusty does the slide and Abe Jr. does a fill to redo the little bridge, and everyone joins like clockwork. Great.Yes, those were two of the moments I was referring to. He also lost a verse of "We Can Work it Out" and botched his lead into the jam after "I've Got a Feeling". This band earns their pay. Love to them all, but Abe is the one that usually saves the day, instrumentally and vocally when things go wrong.

I looked those up after I saw them being mentioned, but didn't want to link to them since it would look like I was searching for mistakes or something. Judging from the reports of other concerts there's nothing to worry about.

Its good to know he is human!

I know that some folks have strong feelings about wanting Paul to change up his setlist. But being so close to him during the show reminds me that I want to hear the story he wishes to tell. That is why I go. We are so lucky that he still loves playing live and even more lucky that he comes to a location where we can go and listen.

But when assessing the details, is it REALLY the story he wants to tell? All of his mainstay stories (Hendrix, Ukulele, Russians...) now start with, "I tell the story of..." or "Some of you already know this but..." I feel like he feels obligated to do it. And we know he has commented on wishing he could do a show of deep cuts. So in my heart of hearts, I feel that he honestly feels a little restrained by this at times. This does NOT impact his love of the stage and his fans, and vice versa, but I don't exactly find it willing. This is more broadway show style than rock concert style these days and no star loves an entire production top to bottom.

As long as he keeps playing where I can afford to go, I will keep coming back. I hope he is able to come back in the future.

And a resounding AMEN to that!

One week later and You won't see me is still ringing in my head.

I love this arrangement. A total rejuvenation of an often overlooked classic. Brilliance!
-
It's definitely a song that surprised me!

I had been waiting for years to hear it. I like this approach even better than the more authentic album version from '04.
-
The harmonies are great. The Beatles sang them well and so does Paul's current band.
