Your favourite songs on MCCARTNEY III
-
Good morning to all,
I would like to open the debate on your favourite song on MCARTNEY III. Because, when I first heard it, I received a monumental slap in the face.
So I'm going to start.
"Long Tailed Winter Bird", "Women and Wives", "Deep Deep Deep Feeling", "Slidin'" and "Deep Down".
The one I like the most out of the five that I have placed is "Slindin'". It's my favourite. I find it quite powerful emotionally speaking and so true. Then the atmosphere gives me goose bumps.
And then there is "Deep Deep Feeling". I really have no words. Except that the words really speak to me.
And there it is! It's up to you to continue
Good evening/night

So difficult to choose but as of now: 1) Deep Down, 2) Women And Wives, 3) Slidin'.

Wow! But you can say that you like everything in the album. In fact, tell me the song you don't like. It'll go faster.

Slidin'" comes up often in favourite songs. You could say it could be the single from the album.

I am replaying a lot of songs over and over. But my most played song right now is "Deep Down."

Yes there is not one bump on the CD!!! Love it and it’s a full play through. One of my best friends also loves every song too. We were just discussing how great it was all the way through.

I can't find one weak song either. Although I am a huge Egypt Station fan, Fuh You was one I would rather he left off.

For me, Long Tailed Winter Bird is about 3 minutes too long. It's an instrumental that repeats the same couple of riffs until it just stops. It just doesn't seem to go anywhere. Now, the instumental version of Slidin', the 4th bonus cut on the Japanese version of the album, is much more interesting....to me. It's melodic and lighter than the official version of Slidin' on the album. I could insert that one onto the official version and be happier with it than with ......Winter Bird.

Interesting that a helter shelter is shown on Wikipedia as a slide, nice picture of one on there. So the song Slidin is somewhat linked to Helter Skelter. Musically, it has that all-out wild rock feeling like the classic White album song. Love the lyrics about dragonflies.

Yes, I agree with you. It's very reminiscent of Helter Skelter. But with a catchy melody I think. Then there is a dynamic energy that I don't feel in Helter Skelter. Then the lyrics of "Slidin'" make a great contrast to the general mood of the song. Then it reminds me a bit of the very rock sound of Scorpions. I love it.

Why did you write this album McCartney 3 was a "big slap to your face" upon first listening, Little Willow? Cause you then went on to say you enjoy and admire various songs. And the album in general.
The record generally. My faves so far are Women & Wives, Pretty Boys, Deep Deep Feeling, Kiss of Venus and When Winter Comes. Deep Deep Feeling exerts almost a hypnotic effect on me. It boasts some interesting and beautiful musical touches which are unexpected, and surprising treats and treasures. -
^ I'm thinking she meant "slap in the face" in a good way, like it woke her up or something. It was an odd phrase to use, though.

Ah, thanks Nancy R, for deciphering. I'm sorry for the misunderstanding. English is not my everyday language. That's why some expressions are blocking. Indeed what I wanted to say is that I was pleasantly surprised by MCCARTNEY III and I wanted to share my feelings.
I didn't know that in your language this expression has a negative meaning. If I understood correctly. -

Thank you for your help. I'll make a note of it. It is that in the French language it is not at all negative. Especially when used in this way.
