2 Egypt Station Songs, 2 Macca3 songs, 1 NEW song, then the basic setlist. While there is great anticipation for this tour, we will ultimately be let down with the setlist and vocals. Its been like this for years. Remember the Freshen Up tour?? Same setlist and nothing freshened up.
I mentioned in another thread...he needs to shorten the show, ditch the 15 song soundcheck, and play what suits his voice.
For him to play Metlife and Sofi stadiums at this stage is insane. His voice won't make it.
Historically, McCartney tends to forget about a solo album for his setlist unless it is his most current album. That is why I think any new solo songs will all be from "McCartney III". My guess is he will do three songs from it and the only one I am pretty positive he will do is "Find My Way". The soundcheck is a huge money maker so he probably will still do it, I agree he should quit doing them. Be like most other performers, do quick couple of songs with any instrument you may play during the show and be done with it. At his age and the state of his voice, IMO he should cut his show to 90 minutes with one quick encore.
If he does that, he'd better charge a lot less for tickets!

When it comes tour names as we saw with 'Freshen up' it's probably best not to take them at face value. Anyway with opening song it would be the perfect opportunity for Paul to dust off early Beatle gems ' I wanna hold your hand' or 'She loves you' or even 'Please please me '

Which is the exact reason why he would not do it -lol.

Real good video of Find My Way.

I love this video with Paul playing all the instruments -lol.

Actually, I would love Paul to be bold and open with new song like he did many years ago (1989- "Figure Of Eight") and play "Find My Way" . Not going to happen (lol) so we will all see soon what old Beatle number he can "dust off".

So...any guesses on what may turn up in the setlist of intrigue this time around? Not looking to generate the same old crap about how nothing changes...just wondering what songs we suspect could get trotted out that haven't been ever or lately!
I could see "Find My Way" joining the set in the opening electric portion. Maybe "Seize The Day" in the magic piano set midway through the show. I know it's not "new" but I suspect "Love Me Do" will purposefully stick around to make mention of the 60th Anniversary of The Beatles. It's also well past time for a new show opener. He has a habit for the past decade or so, of dusting off primarily Lennon-based lead vocal early Beatle tracks (as if to put his stamp back on them?) as the opener...perhaps we'll finally get "I Want To Hold Your Hand" and/or "She Loves You"? I suppose "Get Back" could also make a fitting opener, but it's a tough one to start on, vocally speaking.
I would be shocked if "Find My Way" was not included especially since he got Grammy award nomination for that song. It is a great song and IMO should be the opening song in the concert ( in my dreams lol). I could see "Slidin" being included because it "rocks" and IMO would be great replacement for "Let Me Roll It" which has been played to death. As for piano song, I think the selection might be "Women And Wives" from "McCartney III". All of these songs would be a great fit as they were recorded with Paul's current voice so hearing him sing it live would not be that different. If he was going to dust off old Beatle song, how about one from "Let It Be" that she shared vocals with John and open with "One After 909". The rest of the band can share the vocals with him or maybe just Abe.
Ok, those are my ideas. Guess we will see what happens -lol.
Yankeefan,
Agree with you 100% on "Let Me Roll It". I used to love that song when he did the song as a "Rock" song. I loved the version on Rockshow/Wings Over America. The last few years of Paul and Band doing "Let Me Roll It" it sounded more like a "Michael Bolton" tribute version. Horrid and the first song on the possible 2022 Setlist I would eliminate.
I'm also with you 100% on "Find My Way" becoming the tour's Opening Song. If it's not and he does "Get Back" as the opener, I would love "Fing My Way" to replace it.

^ B J, I think Paul continues to do Let Me Roll It because it is one of his wife Nancy's favorites.
P.S. I don't know where you've heard him perform it in "recent" years, but I'd hardly call it "horrid" and a "Michael Bolton tribute version!" 🤨 SMH
This Nancy likes it too!

Let's start a new thread.....
"What song should Paul do as a tribute to Michael Bolton?" LOL!

Obviously McCartney's voice is much better in 1976 than 2019 -lol. That being said, the Wings version to me rocks harder than the 2019 version. This one example of the 2019 version is not horrid but IMO the song is not anything special. As for being one of Nancy's favorites, she has probably heard it hundreds of times so does she need to continue to hear it? Maybe it is one of those "happy wife, happy life" things -lol.

O...M...G...seeing him sing that song at 34 in the prime of his life...*THUD*
I saw him sing it 3 weeks earlier on May 30, 2019. Not anything special, but I still like the song.

McCartney III is such a strong and fresh album. I wish he'd play most of it. Plus some tracks have nice long jams.
Could you imagine Sir Paul starting off with, "Long Tailed Winter Bird"?
I can.
A real toe tapper /intro. The baby boomers can rush to seats with overlfowing $20 beers over other people's lap as they stumble to thier seats. Then, right into Find My Way. Later coming back to Slidin', Kiss of Venus, Deep Deep feeling and Seize the Day. Heck, give me the whole album. I'd pay full ticket price just to hear Macca and the band play McCartney III in its entirely.
He should play some clubs with just the solo album alone.
Last tour, along with a couple newer renditions of older songs, the Egypt Station performances seemed to be the most inspired and energetic. Plus great live brass band.

Myself and a few others would love it but we know it would not happen. This type of thing might have had a chance 20-30 years ago but not now when he will turn 80 in June. Like I have said in earlier posts on this thread, I expect three songs at the least from "McCartney III" and would be surprised if he did not play "Find My Way" or "Slidin". I am sure his band is tired of playing the same old Beatle songs again and love playing the new songs from his current albums. That being said, the band probably gets paid fairly well and they obviously get along with each other. Like you, I really love it when he has a live horn section.

It is nice to look back and listen to how great he sounded years ago. His voice was so strong and powerful plus he could sing anything so darn well. For the ladies (lol), he really "rocked" the mullet back then.
I like "Let Me Roll It" but it has been played to death in concert and I am bored with it at this point. I don't really care that much what song he would play to replace it, just not "Temporary Secretary" -lol

I think you're probably right YankeeFan,
Hopefully they push it more. I think Slidin' may have been the only track to have the whole band on record.
Long Tailed Winter Bird - would be striking as a first or second opener.
Also, whille I'm stoked to hear anything off Mccartney II as well, since he gave us Temporary Secretary for a few tours, ( we assume he revived that one as it became a popular remixed dance track several years ago). It would be nice if he rotated that out for like anything, Coming Up, or even Check My Machine would be dope!
And despte my handle, I could do without Bogey Wobble, but how about Bogey Music? I think most tracks off that album would be OK on his vocal cords.
And BTW, my user image is not Angela Lansburry, but Sir Paul circa 2002 Driving Rain tour!?!

I know it has been played a ton in the past, but I'd LOVE to hear "Coming Up" as I have never heard it live! Feeling pretty optimistic about hearing it finally at soundcheck this summer as I know it tends to pop up there a bit more!

That is another song where I disagree with the majority of this board, I absolutey hate that song. I hope for your sake you hear it at the soundcheck or concert since you love it. I agree with you, the odds are better for it being played at the soundcheck than the set list.
