On this date in 1962, The Beatles performed their last ever gig at the Star-Club, capping off more than 250 Hamburg nights over the course of five trips within little more than two years. The venue's sound engineer, guitarist Adrian Barber, used King Size Taylor’s Phillips reel-to-reel to record the group over several nights, including New Year's Eve.
Having "grown up in Hamburg” according to John, he and his bandmates couldn't wait to get back to England where things were really starting to heat up.
