Have you ever met/spoken to a Beatle?

I would have loved to meet The Beatles years ago but never got the opportunity. I often wonder what I would have said if I had gotten the chance. It seems like everything would have been said before by thousands of fans over the years. I'm very curious....have you ever met/spoken to a Beatle and if so, what did you say? Or were you too nervous to even speak? This has got to be a very elite club so congratulations if you've made it! Best of luck to all those going to Paul concerts in the near future. Perhaps your moment has finally arrived.
I blew my opportunity many years ago when my friend went for a walk in the Hamptons and I told him I would meet him in a few minutes. My jaw dropped when he told me he met and talked to Paul and Linda briefly on the beach.

Oh hell yes...who hasn't met a Beatle?

I met Paul at the london virgin signing in 2006, queued overnight in the freezing cold for 19 hours. My sister and the 5 people in front of her had long long chats, and in between my sisters go and my go john hammel went up to paul and told him to hurry up But to begin with when it was my sisters go he looked up and saw both our veggie t shirts and read them out loud and said cool! And then she talked to him about being vegan, and then she was sent down the stairs after he'd signed, leaving my go... John Hammel cut in and told him to hurry things up, then i walked forward and he shook my hand, and after that i don't really know, i dont think he spoke to me as he'd been told to hurry up And if i did try and talk to him i cant remember what i said! But at least i met him! And i met Pete Best in 1986 when i was 11, but other than him signing the poster i think i was too young/shy to try and talk! (I've met Sean Lennon 4 times, Julian once, Yoko once, and other beatles relatives but that's not for this thread, but so so so envious of the people on this board who have met john george or ringo)

Have you ever met/spoken to a Beatle? Only in the way that avant garde musicians would communicate with each other...which is...through their music!...as always...and forever...amen

I did say to George that when he tours I hope that he will come to New England. He said, "When I tour I'll have to go everywhere" Sadly, he never toured again. Podgie (remembering the conversation) Monkey
Thanks for the stories! Haha, I just would have hated to have been the guy that George smacked down on that show. My mouth dropped open when I first heard that. As for you, I bet your nerves weren't as obvious as you think.
-
I don't think it was a smack down, but more like George trying to be clever and falling well short. Sad reality is there wasn't a huge demand for George solo shows--he might have been better off in the past playing smaller venues than trying to fill the likes of MSG.

Yes, just trying to be clever, for sure, but still! I don't know, I think 1988 was his best chance at a big tour. But I guess pretty quickly he was busy with the Wilburys, although he seemed to have little appetite for touring anyway, after the unpleasant experiences of 1966 and 1974, not to mention the events of December 1980. From what I'm hearing, sounds like Paul would be wonderful to meet. He's so casual about it.

Cloud Nine was one of the best post-Beatles albums of all. Very underrated. With the Wilburys, it was all happening... George was looking great. In a good space. Just a shame we couldn't get more out of it. Cos it was a peak period for him.

Gave Ringo flowers at a concert years ago at the Iowa State Fair. Hands brushed as I gave him the flowers. Ringo thanked me several times from the stage. I yelled at Paul at an Adopt-A-Minefield event in LA in about 2002 when he and wife #2 walked the red carpet. Paul started walking to the crowd, who pointed to me. He said thank you to me and then his security pulled him back to the red carpet. I will die happy. I've had lots of finger points at concerts.

I'd love to know the reason why (I can think of two good reasons) N.B. I'm assuming you're female

Never met/spoke but did walk right by Paul and Nancy last summer when they were in town and I was headed back to work after lunch. Got a few nods and points last summer at a concert. Most likely the closest I will ever come to meeting a Beatle.

I'm really enjoying the various experiences fans have had. Even though the up close and personal encounters are few and far between it's a good feeling to know that they are still at least a possibility and we can still hope for that. I'm also a fan of John Denver - saw him in concert many times. I did just once get to meet him and shake his hand but then a few short years later he was gone. How I wish he were still around. Let us never take for granted - we still have Paul and Ringo! We miss you John and George.

I met George. I was naked. Skinny dipping in a pond I fence hopped to get into. I was with others but they left me as I dwaddled. two men approached me wearing sunglasses and floppy hats. I recognized George right way. He was standing back and looking off to the side. the first man came right up to me, all talky and friendly in a british accent. Introduced himself as Harry and asked if I had any weed. I handed him my canteen full of water and he said he would be grateful for a swallow. I pointed to George and said, "I know who you are." He looked over at me and replied, "Not fair." "What's not fair?" "You know me. I don't know you." I then said, "Well, I'm Kathryn from Detroit." and he said, "Hello, Kathryn from Detroit." Later, when I met my friends, they asked me if I got caught naked by the people and I said, "You won't believe who one of them was."

Best Beatle encounter story ever! BTW Harry was probably George's brother.

If you believe that story then I have a bridge to sell you in Brooklyn!

Shall I tell you the story about the time when I happened upon Patti Boyd and Jane Asher both skinny dipping at the same time??

Wait a minute, we need to separate fact from fiction here. I was all ready to believe Kathryn's story and now because of what Erik said I'm having my doubts too. After all, I fell for the Paul Is Dead rumors (early on anyway), why not this too? I should have mentioned when I started this thread that I have four priceless Beatles-related prizes to give out to the fans with the top four encounters: 1) The sandals Paul took off before he crossed the Abbey Road zebra crossing thus leaving him barefoot (and maybe dead to some folks) in the famous Beatles photo on the Abbey Road album cover. 2) Ringo's broken drum stick from the Helter Skelter recording session. 3) John's magnifying glass he used to read the teeny-tiny word "yes" on the ceiling of Abbey Road Studios. 4) A chair that George probably threw at Eric Clapton when George heard Eric had written a song about his wife...George's wife...soon-to-be Eric's wife...you know what I mean.

what a great thread!! yes I met Paul, last year June 27, 2013 in Vienna Austria, I was called on stage - got to laugh & joke with him.. we than danced while he and the band played - God what an incredible experience! it was so much fun I even managed to take a piccie of him on stage while he played.... I asked if he would sign my tattoo,, he grabbed my wrist and said 'yeah sure I'll sign your tattoo, a little later, when we got off stage I said what about my tattoo?!!! He said later... I have a Bluebird tattoo - as we walked off stage they began to play Bluebird--- it was the happiest most joyful moment off my life after that I was interviewed for a long while by MPL - with lots of editing it was put up on the official site.. O dreaded watching coz I had 4 hrs sleep and hoarse from screaming--- Paul forgot to sign that tattoo ops: ops: a few years back they sang Bluebird - cos I was holding up the sign.. afterwards he said that's for you you know? we were all screaming but as he sang he was pointing to me as he played your a Blue bird your a bluebird -- yeah yeah yeah there been other times via him on stage--- but I thought he didn't sign my tattoo coz I was not cute enuff?..... ops: another snippet-- Japan the last night lasyt year.. I was holding up that freakin bluebird sign.. and he looked at me and shrugged.... the confetti was coming down at that time... I started crying my eyes out!!! and Paul saw me as he walked off stage.... ops:
