Questions about "Abbey Road" album

L2T, I can see your point. If I were a girlfriend of one of the Beatles I guess I would have wanted to be there at the recording sessions (I'd use good sense to stay waaay in the background though). Truthfully, if I were the parent of a Beatle, the sibling of a Beatle, the favorite aunt of a Beatle, I'd have wanted to be there too! What a hot mess that would have been.

How about a third cousin once removed Don't think Yoko is an in the background type of girl tho... more the type that John seemed to treat her as his equal. That's how it looks to me anyway... Yoko was definitely John's match...

"Joy to the World - Peace on Earth - We are all ONE" Amen!

Reminds me of those Peace Lights in Iceland... a cool idea! Of course then I flash back to COSMOS and we all seem so small, however we are all connected to it all... We are Stardust... We are Golden... we are billion year old Carbon...

But no one else brought a bed into Abbey Road. That wasn't happening everywhere.
Yeah, it was because of their car accident in Scotland and Yoko was still recovering. The other Beatles couldn't believe it when the guys from Selfridges came in to deliver a bed to the studio!

Yeah, Yoko definitely wasn't the "I'll just stay in the background" type. More like the "I'll just stay joined at the hip with John" type. I blame John as much as Yoko for this behavior.

It appears they couldn't help it! the way he looked at her...

"stay waaay in the background"...which is understandably why her presence brought some turmoil to the recording sessions. It wasn't the "Two of Us" it was the four boys all the time. The four headed monster as many (including Mick Jagger) called them.

L2T:^^ I dig Yoko's art. Although I am fine with others that do not share my enthusiasm, as we all have our own minds to think as we please. I respect everyone's feelings and direction they choose in life. I must say that I was thinking the same way about why the ladies were, or were not, in the studio with the guys at whatever point and time. If John did not want Yoko there I am sure she would not have been there. Same goes for Paul and Linda, and whomever else. I know if I were John's girlfriend and he wanted me to lay on a mattress on the floor and hang out with him I surely would not say no. Or if Paul asked me to come hang out on his bed in those days I am pretty sure I'd be right there. Paul and John wanted it that way or it would not have been that way. And I can't say the album(s) turn out so bad.
-
Yeah, but the problem is John wanted it that way and the other three as well as everyone else working at Abbey Road etc. didn't! It was a bad move on John's part.
-
I think there were lots of bad moves and good moves on everyone's part. None of us were there. Look at other issues and hangers on who took advantage of the situation the four men were in at the time. You had lawsuits going on, and charletans promising things to members behind the scenes that could not be delivered in reality. So many more problems than Yoko. Without Yoko, John would have been a wreck. Same for Linda's calming effect on Paul. Really all there is to say. p.s.> Ringo just came on the radio: "It Don't Come Easy." That song is so true.

John created...The Beatles...And it was John's way...of giving everyone else in the band...that predictable and timely chance...to carry on with their lives. What was wrong with that?

That is a very wise answer. He was John Effing Lennon (or Ono Lennon by then) and it didn't matter what anybody else thought. If they didn't like it the band could break up...and that's exactly what happened.

Do you guys really believe that John brought Yoko into the studio for the purpose of breaking up the Beatles?!

And that's the way John continued on...he didn't give a !@#$ what anyone else thought. And he would not be singing any Beatles songs if he were alive.

Despite John's insistence that he'd never sing "I Wanna Hold Your Hand" at 30 or 40 or whatever he used to go on about (great sound bite, but that's about it), I think he would be singing it now for money just the way George came to Paul "hat in hand." The other Beatles didn't have the same incredible financial success as Paul and I believe when the cash flow slowed down they would have sung songs they claimed they wouldn't sing. They all liked money and none of them were handing theirs out!

He would have added I Want To Hold Your Hand (and other Beatles songs) to the setlist for the proposed 1981 world tour. That is fact. I mean John was the guy who used to sign Christmas cards, "XB John" He was incredibly proud of The Beatles.

While I don't think John would do I Want To Hold Your Hand, there are tons of other later Beatles songs I could see him doing.
