How a fan doesn't know that exist the two DVD one CD package!that's the one to buy!but i went dissapointed with the videos...Can't buy me love with John singing (miming) the lead vocal i went so angry....I just not see that package anymore i just go back to my beloved Pipes of peace deluxe edition!
I guess I am not much of a fan. "Yawn" I can live with that. I agree, WHY put the version of Can't Buy Me Love with John miming the lead vocal?? That always cracked me up! John: "Paul, today I'm going to be the lead singer of your song on telly!" Paul: "Ok, John!"

There might be an interesting but long forgotten reason for doing that? Perhaps they were getting fed up with the show's director so deliberately had the wrong Beatle sing the song. The Beatles, especially when bored, would often mess about like autographing each others names or try and outdo each other with outlandish stories or answers to questions. I seem to remember that George once said that he was Tommy Steel's cousin (or something like that).

But there was a big problem! This collection is the first and only official release of The Beatles videos!...in the future once again all the young people and the new generations will think that "can´t buy me love" was a Lennon song sung by Lennon!!!!!(When i was a young boy i think that helter Skelter was a Lennon song!!!you know was Lennon who got to court in the Charles Manson trial!!!!

Oh come off it! After the first few seconds and for most of the video it shows Paul belting out the song. There's no mistaking it's him singing it. No one is going to think it's Lennon singing.

Well, it's more than a few seconds, but you're right, it's not a crisis, haha. There are other videos that show individual Beatles miming lines they're not really singing on the record. I guess it just makes the video more interesting to watch, so that's why they do it?like they're more "united" as a group, perhaps?

Calm down Carlos! Can't Buy Be Love was double-tracked by Paul (he sang the lyrics a 2nd time over the 1st time), so in this case, they were miming (lip-synching) so John sang along as the "2nd" voice.

It´s the same after all this time keep with John i keep with Macca always! And i defend Macca always against the wrong forces of history!

I always suspected that, and since there are two voices, it made sense to have John miming too. He just gets so much more camera time than Paul, which is cool. It was a TV show!

Also, in A Hard Day's Night, John double-tracked his vocal on I Should Have Known Better, but in the train sequence, Paul can be seen singing along with John, even though he is not singing on the record. So it goes both ways!

I'm more interested in what Macca is going to do creatively and professionally presently, in the "Now." "New"

Got the deluxe for Christmas and just finished going through the whole set today. The highlight of the deluxe set by far is the book. All of the write-ups, stories, facts, and especially the photos and new colorized ones as well were excellent to read along with the discs. The only differences I noticed as far as Giles Martin is concerned ( ) were on Paperback Writer and Real Love and I thought they were both for the better!! The CD & DVD were excellent as was expected through and through. Honestly, the bonus DVD was a tiny bit of a let down. All of the videos up until "I Feel Fried" I already have on official releases (mostly from Anthology) but I guess if you want them quick, you've got them here. I just felt that they could have been more creative with their choices in the early works since there is so much to pull from in old TV footage. The other disappointment was the commentary. I guess I had my expectations too high, but really?!? That was it?!? Neither of them sounded like they were interested in the project whatsoever, waste of time really. But all in all, a worthwhile collection all the way around. For the completist: go deluxe. For a casual fan: just get the DVD, if you already have the CD.

Got the DVD. It's OK. Not so impressed with the sound and mixes, I thought they would be enhanced, instead, certain instruments and voices are louder and some inaudible. Which I do not like. For example, on the guitar solo of Day Tripper, I can't even hear the main riff, just the ascending notes George is playing. Paperback Writer's lush harmonies are mixed WAY down, and Paul's bass on Something is almost not there. Not sure what good of any of this is supposed to come. And the videos? Yes, some are clearer and sharper, and Penny Lane looks great! But I would rather have had Strawberry Fields in the same re worked condition than Come Together with animation. And Rain, instead of songs from the Yellow Submarine cartoon. I want to see The Beatles! I give it a C-, and I am an easy grader.
RMartinez:
I bought the solo DVD which has one disc with 27 songs. So, I suspect I need to buy the whole package to get the other disc. Had I known that, I would have done that, as I think this DVD is, frankly, a waste of money, as I can go on youtube and see this stuff.
I did the same thing and I had the exact same impression. I bought the DVD thinking it was the Deluxe Beatles 1+ thing, except in DVD format. As I am reading through this thread I realize it is not. Now I realize I must've just got the DVD bonus. The videos, I have all seen before and I was a bit disappointed with some of their choices and versions of the songs they chose. The commentary was a shame and laughable, Paul rambling and Ringo not sure what to say! lol Had I realized this I would've saved my money and got the proper package one day. Oh well!
