I ordered from Amazon.com, and just got my shipping notification that 1+ will be here tomorrow. Looking forward to it! The Yellow Submarine lava lamp shipped with it, so it should add some ambiance to my viewing pleasure.

I spent last evening viewing the (blu ray) discs and its wonderful to have all these promo films virtually in one place. The audio is excellent throughout but visually allowances have to be made to the age of the source material. A lot of those early promo (up to and including 1965) are visually pretty ropey and blu-ray doesn't improve things. But this is off-set by the rarity of soem of these films, especially the alternative versions of Day Tripper / We Can Work It Out. Its only with the Paperback Writer / Rain colour promos that quality improves drastically, and these plus Strawberry Fields / Penny Lane / Hello Goodbye promos do look stunning on blu-ray. Another plus is the inventive and humorous captions that introduce the song titles on disc 1. The bonus material of Paul's commentaries and Ringo's introductions are pretty disappointing though. Nothing really new or interesting is divulged apart from Paul's identification of 'old Bill' in the Hey Jude promo film, and how the Beatles came to meet him. Overall this is a really good release from Apple ( the beautiful book does help justify the £30+ price tag) although I'm disappointed that Apple don't appear to have made much effort in picture restoration of those earlier videos. But then again, perhaps nothing could technically be done to improve them? 8/10

Got mine in store from HMV in Glasgow for £34 (only £1 more than my original Amazon order and £2 cheaper than Amazon's current price) and it's the BluRay so I'm extremely happy.

Can you imagine the hours of absolute crap many on this board would be posting? Constantly! It's bad enough just with the written word and there are many regulars who struggle with that!

How true.

Absolutely adore the Jeff Lynne remixes but HATE the FAAB inner aspect ratio that makes it look like I'm watching a smaller widescreen tv within my screen. What is up with that aspect ratio?!
-
To your ears how do the remixes sound? Faithful to the originals but meatier? Punchier? Any thoughts you could share would be appreciated?

My copy arrived on Thursday I have to say it's brilliant they did a excellent job with it the colour and sound are fantastic well worth it.

First thing I did was just sit back and listen to the CD. The sound quality is quite breathtaking. The rockers rock so much harder. One hears cascading guitar runs on Lady Madonna and Hello, Goodbye (and elsewhere) that give them greater punch and presence. Every song is filled out and benefits greatly from the new stereo mixes. Paul's bass is much more prominent as is Ringo's drumming. The old "Ringo's the luckiest guy in show business" canard should finally be put to rest once and for all. One hopes the entire catalog will now be remixed. (I have been waiting forever for the vocals to come out of the center of the mix on Day Tripper/We Can Work It Out! Hearing that finally happen brought a huge smile to my face. Just that alone would have swayed me on this collection.) Thank you, Giles Martin!!!! This is as much for your father as it is for The Beatles.

My Amazon Canada order got delayed, saying they didn't know when they would get it, so I canceled it. Think I'm going to have to race out to Best Buy now! I don't want to wait till next weekend to have time to listen and watch. Thanks, B4E&E, for the review!

I got the same email from Amazon Canada, but didn't cancel it. The price is too good! I can wait. I have so many things to read and listen to already! Haven't read the TOW & POP books, or Conversations With McCartney!

Much to my surprise, Amazon.Com, which had indicated to me when I placed the order that it would be delivered on the 12th or 13th, had it on my stoop first thing yesterday morning...on the same day it was released!!! I was going to rush to Best Buy yesterday...when I could find the time.... until I discovered the extremely prompt delivery!!! I couldn't wait until the 12th. Thank you, Amazon.Com!!!!! P.S. You'll love it!!!
