If George blocked it I doubt we shall ever see an official release. Unless Olivia and Dhani have a change of heart.

^^ I hope whomever is blocking this from being released will have some compassion for the John Lennon lovers here. I really would love to see this out. Thankyou.

George seemed very defensive throughout the Anthology project. Doesnt surprise me he veto'd it. I actually prefer the song/melody to FAAB.

I think George needed the money otherwise he wouldn't have got involved with the project at all.

Yeah, his business manager screwed him out of a ton of money and he was "broke" and had all the upkeep on Friar Park to worry about.

Hmm... I thought George was honest during the anthology project. I enjoyed his interview parts. It was nice to see him look back even if his memories aren't as positive as Paul's I agree that he probably wasn't thrilled with the idea of doing the John songs though. Honestly, I tend to agree with George that the songs shouldn't have been done. I'd be more for it if the John vocals were better quality. I have the same concerns about now and then. If John had done a demo singing in his full voice, I'd be for it.

You kinda hit the nail on the head there..... George did seem a little restrained, yet by the same token very honest and forthcoming in both the Anthology video and book... I've been re-reading the book and he certainly is the voice of comparative reason on many an occasion. And, yes, both Free as a Bird and Real Love were always going to be hampered by the poor quality of the tapes .... I do like the bits that Paul and George have added to the former, but I probably think the bare version of Real Love on the Imagine soundtrack resonates stronger. Just for its simplicity. I am not really overwhelmed with the raw bits I have heard of Now and Then.... but my curiosity cannot help but want it issued! Let's face it, nothing could diminish the legacy of that band!

Every minute they were in front of a microphone will be released sooner or later. You just have to wait long enough.

Have to agree. I'm sure "Anthology 4" may eventually pop up.

There's an interesting book by Robert Sellers called "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life: The Inside Story of HandMade Films" which shows the extent to which George's manager (Denis O'Brien) ripped him off. It also shows that George had installed Ray Copper in Handmade essentially as a "spy in the camp" as he obviously didn't trust O'Brien.

"Never guess. Unless you have to. There's enough uncertainty in the universe as it is." - The Fourth Doctor (Logopolis 1981).
