A Big Thank You From PaulMcCartney.com

I'm not all that upset about the discontinuation of the premium membership, but I am unhappy that I didn't get the email notification about the discontinuation. I've been a premium member from the beginning. Does this mean that I will not get the email for the promised free download either?!!?
-
I do not like that my page is gone, especially my jukebox.

I guess we paid for being Beta members.
Not happy. Totally blown $60.
yeah...it was $60 wasn't it? Some are saying 50. Maybe they'll send us another pic of the concert from NYC...

I honestly don't care. I got Premium Membership by default when I bought the Ram deluxe box. I wouldn't have shelled out for it on its own. I never agreed with the whole two-tier fan system. Having money doesn't make you a bigger or better fan and I'm glad to see it go.
-
^ I know...right? I want my page back & a way to contact my "friends" there. And my jukebox.
-
personally I never agreed with the premium level and paying to get it, I lived just fine without it and that was one of the things that separated Paul from other artists. Paul can afford to foot the bill and lord knows it is for fans that have very robustly supported him over the years financially..let the fans enjoy all of it if they choose. I know a lot of people who have paid money are going to disagree but this is just my opinion and that is what they asked for.

Whilst running the new look PaulMcCartney.com over the past twelve months we have taken note of all the feedback received from you, Paul's fans. It's been informative and useful to hear your thoughts on what you have enjoyed and what you think could be improved. With this in mind, to make PaulMcCartney.com work better for everyone, we have been developing a new platform for the website. Fans will begin to see the results of this work from Thursday 1st November on the new site. While we have kept the general look and feel of the previous site some features, such as the Premium Membership, will not feature in the new site. As a thank you to our premium members for their continued support, we are putting together a package of goodies including a free download of Paul?s forthcoming film, ?Live Kisses?. Premium Members will be emailed about this offer in the coming days so keep an eye on your inbox. PaulMcCartney.com is designed for you, so it is vitally important that you let us know what you want. Get involved and make the site your own by telling us what you do and don?t like about PaulMcCartney.com and we will work with you to create a Paul McCartney experience that you?ll want to come back to time and time again. PaulMcCartney.com
Does this mean a beta site again?

I don't think any sort of positive spin can be put on this move i liked the premium membership for many reason, not least because of the jukebox which i used a lot to say the least i presume the move to spotify has had something to do with the discontinuation of that feature and the removal of the premium membership has to do with the promise of no payment till the site left the beta stage, lets be fair renewals were due and clearly MPL decided it was not going to work. Cant say im impressed frankly.

I just purchased a premium membership in September! I did not get a presale code, and the site STILL hasn't sent me the fan pack with t-shirt, lithograph, etc. Now even the premium membership "perks" on the website aren't there (not that I really used them). What exactly did I pay my money for? If something isn't done to make this right I guess I'll have to take it up with my credit card company.
-
I'm fine with the change so that more people will be able to access the whole site. Will still get all up to date news and info about tours etc. I guess. Must admit I didn't use many of the perks that often.

Mark Knopfler's website is a good example to follow - www.markknopfler.com . As is now the case with paulmccartney.com, there is no longer a members only area on Mark's site but by signing up there, you get access to ticket pre-sales and as long as I've accessed the sales early enough I have never had a problem getting fantastic seats at his shows - I was front row for the Get Lucky tour in 2010 for instance, and for a show at the same venue in Bournemouth last year, I went for balcony seats and they were situated perfectly in the front-centre and the sound from there is as good as it gets. And you get this service free of charge! So perhaps all is not lost. Also take a look at Sting's website - www.sting.com . You do pay for being a fan club member there at the moment but the site content is superb even for non-members. Perhaps we'll get something similar to the afore mentioned MK.com with the new PM.com - not an exclusive members section as such but at least a few perks for the fans including pre-sales. I did enjoy the features on the old premium section and the jukebox was terrific, though I didn't necessarily feel the urge to return to the site every day. Will wait and see what happens with interest.

Wasn't the membership $60? I don't even remember. I don't agree that they gave us what was promised. Who said gimme your money & we'll keep this site in Beta mode for a year & send you a Tshirt & a pic of NYC? I'd never sign up for that!
This is entirely it. We DIDN'T get what we paid for. The site was in beta for a year because it wasn't up to snuff. Access to a bunch of pictures and some videos is NOT worth $60.

The only positive of what has happened, is that the forum is now accessible from the main site. VERY upset that all my personal info, VIP pages, jukebox, all-access videos photos etc. is GONE that I've PAID for : Hope this gets straightened out....DEFINITELY a step back, right now. We Can Work It Out....right?

Adriana Rojas:
I want to ask why the main site is not working as usual does, they are not choice for logging...please some knows what is happening? :
What sad surprise the site provided us. I think, we lost our friends of our pages. That's a pity! If we had been communicated could have resolved it. So cool that was our pages. Terrible idea! I don't like Maccaboard.
-
I?m disappointed on two fronts. 1) The loss of the Premium content. I enjoyed the access to unique content and streaming the music. 2) I am more disappointed with the Vancouver presale. I was on the site at the start point but could not access tickets, the site wouldn?t respond, for 15 minutes. Although 18th row, stage left is ok I had expected to have better results as a premium member. I understand the free download will be an olive branch but it isn?t something that I see as significant. Kisses is ok but why not have a small variety of choices to reward us for our putting forward our money in an attempt to make the site as good as it could be?

I went for the premium membership, even though I really couldn't afford it. Only for Paul...Anyhow, I never used the new site, just never got into it, and continued to come here to the "old" board directly, using an old shortcut. By-passed the new site completely. So, I really didn't get much for my money, did I? I just kept reminding myself that in the good old days, you had to pay to join fan clubs, so that is what I considered I had done with this. Fan clubs would provide things that non-members did not have access to, and give heads-up on shows, etc. So, I don't have a big problem with a so-called "premium" membership (though it could be a lot cheaper!) Oh, well...we shall see what happens next!

Alright, I was a little more heated than I needed to be on the suggested complaints thread but, it isn't like we paid $50 for nothing. We still got a T-Shirt, Lithograph, "membership card" (that'll be quite the piece of memrobilia now!!), picks and pins. That alone probably amounts to the $50 if we had actually bought it through his store. So then to hear that I'm getting more stuff just because it is ending, sounds pretty cool to me! I'm not really sad to see the pre-sales go with this, because they never helped anyway! :

Plus we basically got a streaming service for a year to all of Paul's albums. I'm not sorry to see the Premium membership go either. All people did was complain about how it didn't meet their expectations. I guess, in the end, it's better that all fans are treated equally, regardless of ability to pay. And the email said they were going to start sending out regular emails and I assume those emails will include presale ticket info. It's probably just far simpler for MPL to administer and will minimize the complaints in the long run. Bring on the "goodies."

Am I the only one who feels completely indifferent to this? I used the site once or twice after I joined and to be perfectly honest I have never used it since. I think it's better if everyone gets whatever content for free. Some people can't afford the membership and it's just more fair this way. With regards to tickets, it will probably go back to the way it was before the membership started anyway with the presale codes emailed to those on the email list. Can't wait to see the goodies they are preparing for us!
You're not the only one. I agree with everything you said. People who want to connect with fellow Paul fans can do so on his Facebook page and here on the board. And yes, I'm guessing they'll go back to the old emails for presale info. And I feel like I did get my money's worth. It was 13 cents a day for a T-shirt I wear a lot, premium access to pix and videos for a year, streaming service for a year to all his albums. Basically they've decided to discontinue it so now I can use my $50 that I was going to spend to renew to buy something else. And his Web site is still better than it was. The only real complaint is I'm sorry to see Rude Studio and the JukeBox go entirely. I understand MPL doesn't want to offer all his music free to everyone (why undercut the streaming services like Spotify?) but I would like to see some limited version of Rude Studio back. Or maybe a Jukebox that features a rotating list of 10 tracks that Paul has been spotlighting on the main page and on his Twitter page.

Hello...chuck Keslman here in Shreveport, La. saying hello and once again asking permission to send Sir Paul my epic Lennon/McCartney tribute song, "Return of The Walrus/Flight of the Blackbird". In July, 2009, the song won me an Honorable Mention award from the World Billboard Contest for being a HIT song. I can send it to you as proof and articles regarding the recognition of the song. It has made an impact on many website radio stations, and I'm wanting Sir Paul to listen to the song and possibly help me get it out to the world on a much broader level. . It's well deserving and I know you'll be convinced that it's everything I say it is. I humbly thank you for allowing me to share something important and valuable, and I need you to take me serious by responding to my request.. The world is in demand for the song about 2 icons that changed the world forever, the walrus(Lennon) and the blackbird(McCartney) Have a blessed and musical day, Chuck Kesilman
