Pick Any 3 Songs for One on One Setlist

I recall various stories Paul has told about why certain songs have made it into the setlist. Such as in The Space Between Us. Sounds like Paul runs into the right fan at the right time once in a while. After seeing Paul on this tour and talking over the setlist with friends and family who saw him for the first time, we've had this discussion. I've seen fantasy setlists and some awesome ideas people here have proposed, but for this...let's say you bump into Paul on this tour and have 30 seconds to rattle off only a few suggestions that he has never done or rarely done. Only pick 3 that 75-year-old Paul could do in his current setlist. What would they be? For me: 1.) Goodnight Tonight (first encore song or before Golden Slumbers, audience participation on chorus at the end) 2.) Ballroom Dancing (would make for a great video on the screen, with footage from the song in Broad Street and maybe some Dancing With The Stars. Wix could make this sound awesome with the brass and Paul's voice could still pull this off. Would put it in the piano set with Lady Madonna, Queenie Eye, and New) 3.) My Brave Face (could fit in nicely for the 3rd or 4th song, maybe after Cant Buy Me Love. I had a small glimmer of hope this would come out with the Flowers reissue and selling the CDs at the concerts.) 3 songs I'd pick for One on One. What would you request to add?

Great Post Let Me Roll It. You really state in a nutshell what I believe (my opinion) is missing from Paul's Setlist. It is a lack of creativity and imagination that these suggestions (including yours) have. Except for a few songs like...You Won't See Me (great rendition), Love Me Do (great sing along that saves Paul's voice) and Hard Day's Night (great opener), the rest of the setlist shows a real lack of thought (and imagination) of what could potentially constitute a great setlist. Based on what Paul (with the help of his Band) could actually do vocally in 2017, here a few of mine: 1.Put in "Ever Present Past" instead of Temporary Secretary (similar but much better song) 2,Put in "When I'm 64" instead of Mr. Kite (mainly to change things up but "64" is a perfect sing-a-long that the crowd would go nuts singing. I don't think Paul realizes that "64" is the new "Boomer" birthday "standard" these days. Another song that would help save his voice but at the same time create all kinds of audience participation and excitement. Believe it or not, he has never sung this "live". 3. Immediately follow "When I'm 64" with "Lovely Rita" just like it is on the Sgt. Pepper album..a perfect follow-up like the way Band on the Run follows up Back in the USSR 4. Put in "Somebody Who Cares" instead of 4-5 Seconds - a much better song and Paul could probably sing it better. This is yet another criminally under appreciated song off of Tug of War that a very young James McCartney (at like 4 or 5 years old) liked the best on the Album. Shows the kid really had good taste even at that age. I could do others but will allow more people to have their shot. I wish Paul would just skip the whole "career spanning, relevant, history" theme and just focus on great overlooked songs. OK he did Temporary Secretary, 4-5 Seconds, Mr. Kite but now is the time to bring in some new, truly fresh additions. Do something for the hard core fans! The 1st timers are going to enjoy any setlist that includes the "signature" songs that he always does. PS Love your "Ballroom Dancing" suggestion. For those who may not have seen one of my previous posts...that was the 1st song that my little one year old danced to all around our living room. She obviously had no idea who Paul or the Beatles were but man did she love that song.

1. I Want To Hold Your Hand (what a powerful opener) 2. Girl's School (a powerful Wings rocker to possibly replace Junior's Farm, another powerful rocker) 3. Smile Away (always thought this tune would be a great second encore song)

- Early Days - wonderful song off "New" which was sung with a older man voice so I am sure he could handle it now. 2) That Was Me - upbeat song about McCartney's life that got very good reception in Paris when he did it years ago and was never done again. Perfect song to have video of McCartney's life from his 20's until now. 3) Take It Away - rollicking song that was a hit single and would be great live. He could handle this song since it is upbeat and his band would do good job with backup vocals.

Of the Beatles songs he has not done I would request: I Want To Hold Your Hand What You're Doing From Me To You I think any of these would work well as an opener.

1. Bring back HERE THERE & EVERYWHERE in the first piano part in the set. Paul must've thought it didn't sound great in rehearsals or something, I can't think of any other reason why he removed it. It's a Beatles hit that everyone loves, and I think Paul does a beautiful job singing it in a different style than what he used to do. 2. Add in SMILE AWAY. This is something I'm confident McCartney could sing even at 75. Most of the song is in his lower register of voice, and he would get the back up by the Abe. I could hear this song either second, replacing Save Us/Juniors Farm , or in the encore replacing Hi Hi Hi. 3. Remove Eleanor Rigby (it's getting harder and harder for him to sing), and replace it with PUT IT THERE. Picking only three was very tough, and I already know my mind will change right after I post this so some other songs I was considering were: Got To Get You Into My Life, Flaming Pie, Getting Better, Maxwell's Silver Hammer, You Never Give Me Your Money, She's a Woman, Man We Was Lonely, Teddy Boy, Junk, London Town, and Sally G ð???

Great question, LetMeRollIt89! I love everyone's suggestions so far. My choices would be; What You're Doing Silly Love Songs My Brave Face I think that these would be fun additions and I think they're realistic in terms of Paul being able to sing them comfortably. Now if only Sir Macca would take a stroll through this board occasionally....

Hmm, tricky question. I'm seeing Paul for the first time in December so I'm nowhere near tired of the setlist. Here are my picks: 1. The Back Seat of My Car (apparently they've tried it and Paul isn't keen) 2. Get on the Right Thing 3. Turned Out Being a Paul virgin, I also don't know the ins and outs of the set this time but I can guess the majority of it. However, I have heard of one or two that I'd be glad to skip in favour of others: 1. Temporary Secretary 2. Being for the Benefit of Mr Kite 3. FourFive Seconds (man, I hope that's gone by December)

It's not that we don't appreciate Paul for still touring (we love the Man!) but as Paul always intimated throughout his career when doing a new album or writing a new song. He always was striving to do it "better". The same should apply with his tours. This thread is showing how this Setlist could be so, so much better. Love so many of the choices so far. Here are a couple more: *This One - since so many have listed FITD songs, how about this great Pop-Rocker with excellent lyrics. Another song where the Band can really join in. * Day in the Live - Right after the Sgt. Pepper reprise just like it is on the album. I'm all for Paul doing more Solo songs but how does Hi-Hi-Hi "connect" with the Sgt. Pepper Reprise as its follow-up. Again, it baffles me. Just seems like a lack of thought. And Hi-Hi-Hi has been done enough. *Give Peace a Chance - Right after Day in the Life just like Paul did it in 2009-2010 (if my dates are wrong, please correct me). Another song where the crowd joins in and gives Paul's voice a breather. I want Paul to continue to tour until he reaches 80. He needs more sing-alongs (like Love Me Do, Ob-La-Di, Hey Jude and my other suggestion...When I'm 64).

______________________________________________________ He's done Michelle quite a bit but O Darling is an interesting pick. Today, he couldn't do the screaming version a la Abbey Road, but it might be great in a "Bluesy" guitar rendition. I've seen a couple You Tube cover versions of "Darling" sung in a bluesy style with just a guitar. I think Paul could do it well this way. The big plus would be that it be a different arrangement that could be great similar to the "new" treatment given on "You Won't See Me". This is exactly the kind of imagination and creativity that I wished Paul would give to his live shows. Not the "signature" songs but to the rest of the setlist.
