The article says it's not known whether Paul's song is pro- or anti-Trump. I think we know.

Shows you how lame the media can be, like everybody does not know it will be anti- Trump and McCartney loved President Obama. I am sad to hear he is doing this, all anybody will talk about on this new album now is him Trump bashing.

This may have been discussed in another thread, but was wondering about people getting a message that they'd receive a copy of the new album with their purchase of a ticket to one of his concerts. Was that just for people who purchased through Ticketmaster and/or American Express? The ticket I purchased was from the venue itself, and not a re-sale ticket, and I didn't get any message about receiving a free copy of the new album. Is it assumed that everyone who purchased a ticket that wasn't a re-sale is entitled to get a copy of the new album? Just checking. It's possible since tickets through my venue were through "Select-A-Seat" and not Ticketmaster, that could be the reason why some ticket purchasers didn't receive that message.

I'd rather Paul NOT do an anti-Trump, anti-Clinton, or anything that is an anti-America song. We live in a democracy here and I hope he respects that. Yes, Trump is a huge jerk, but he won the election. Our government is not perfect, but compared to most of the world it ain't so bad. All the bashing the current president hasn't produced one positive thing so far. God bless America.

I agree. This is one song on the new album I will probably skip. There is plenty of other places I can hear about Trump being a jerk, don't care to hear it in a song by my favorite artist.

Trump is anti-American.

An essential part of democracy is criticizing officials when they do wrong. As Trump has shown and behaved with nothing but disdain for American women, minorities, our military, our intelligence officials working on the frontlines, workers of all types, parents, children, past presidents, our elected officials, and on and on, then I can few of things more fundamentally American than speaking out against him, as he is currently the biggest threat to our great country.

He lost the popular vote by millions and only won the electoral college thanks to his collaboration with the Russian government in hacking the voting systems of several states.

I mean, I get it if you happen to be a Trump and a Macca fan. But since I hate Trump, I'm happy about the song. Make it the lead single.

LOL! At the end of this report may be one of the smartest thing Trump ever said...(about HM)

Trump, no doubt, really earned Paul's enmity by Trump's plans and efforts to harm and ruin the environment and strip it of natural resources, and his stupid denial of climate change--here in North Carolina, Trump demanded the coastlines be drilled for oil, which would hurt the beaches and tourism, and is not necessary as the U.S. is rich in oil. Our Democrat governor responded "NO!!" And there are many other things which would offend Paul, about Trump and the GOP. His protest song is A-OK with this American.

Remember "BIG BOYS BICKERING?" About George W. Bush. Cursed in the song.

The notion that an anti-Trump song is anti-America is ridiculous. As Mark Twain said. "The only true patriotism, the only rational patriotism, is loyalty to the country all the time, loyalty to the government when it deserves it." I hope Paul goes for the throat on this one.

Please provide any proof of Russian government hacking voting systems. This investigation has been going on forever, and there are zero parameters into where they can look. That is so not how independent counsel investigations are supposed to go, but after all this fishing, there has not been a shred of evidence to support this. Sorry...just tired of hearing all of this, especially after all of the Hillary blatantly criminal activity was largely ignored by our media. Things that actually put our country at risk. Deleting 30,000 subpoenaed emails, having such computer hardware destroyed, etc. FBI director Comey looking the other way. The popular vote/electoral vote thing is also irrelevant. If I'm a candidate, and I know I had absolutely no chance of picking up electoral votes in a given state (i.e. Trump in California), I wouldn't waste any money or time trying to sway as many voters as I could there if it was a lost cause. That may cause the popular vote to not go my way, but that isn't what determines the winner. I'd be placing my capital where it helps me win. All that being said, if Paul wants to do such a song, he certainly has every right to. I certainly cannot support everything the Trumpster is doing, and some of this he has brought on himself, but the onslaught from his opponents and their accomplices in the mainstream media from day one is something the which we have never seen and hopefully never see again.

I'm a Paul fanatic, but I cringe every time he tries politics. He's best being the elder statesmen, above the fray, rockin and playing the ballads.

You can start with the Department of Homeland Security's finding that 21 states were targeted by Russian hackers, then continue with the state reports of voters abruptly stripped from the rolls. (You won't though, because as a Trump supporter you deny reality and truth.) That's just the tip of the iceberg, we won't know the full extent for years, especially as the Trump administration is deliberately trying to prevent investigation.
Iowa Hawkeye Beatlefan:
This investigation has been going on forever, and there are zero parameters into where they can look.
Trump has only been president for six months and we've already found out that Donald Trump Jr. and Jared Kushner took meetings with Russians they deliberately didn't disclose and lied about; Paul Manafort, Trump's campaign manager, received large payments from the Russian government; Trump's national security advisor was forced to resign after having undisclosed meetings with the Russian ambassador promising the end of Russian sanctions; Trump's attorney general lied to Congress about having no contact with Russians when he actually met with them twice; The Trump Organization has received large amounts of money from Russian ogliarchs; a Trump campaign computer server had repeated contact with Russia during the election; British intelligence discovered that Russia has videotapes of Trump's sexual activities in Russia so damaging that our intelligence agencies agreed it subject Trump to blackmail; Trump met with Russians in the Oval Office with no records taken and American press present; Trump met with Putin with no American press present; Trump had an undisclosed meeting with Putin. All of that is aside from the fact that Trump has refused to ever criticize Vladimir Putin, quotes propaganda from Russia Today, makes sure his foreign policy aligns with Putin, publicly asked Russia to hack Hillary Clinton, refused to disclose his tax returns and financial information which his son admitted show large Russian investments, and that Trump publicly proclaims his complete trust in Vladimir Putin over our own intelligence agencies.

____________________________________________________________ I agree 100%. Political/Protest songs has never been one of Paul's strengths. The only one I liked was "Give Ireland Back to the Irish" and that was mainly because it was a damn good rocking number. As many of us will agree, Paul is the master of melody. But Paul can also write some very good lyrics. Many of Paul's greatest lyrical songs however are based on "universal themes" like love, marriage, parenting, death, perseverance, prejudice against being different, racial bigotry etc. etc. He has written many great songs (Beatles, Wings, Solo) that cover these themes in an intelligent and simple but deep manner. In fairness, no one has heard this song yet. But if it is one of these "all too simplistic with little to zero solutions to complicated subjects or filled with trite and angry lyrics, Paul might have just eliminated 50% of the potential US buyers of his new album. Currently, people are so fed up with multi, multi millionaire celebrities, actors, musicians trying to tell average working Americans how to think etc etc. Unfortunately, Paul will just be thrown into the mix of yet another very, very rich celebrity trying to tell average people how to live, and what they should believe. Worse yet and as Yankeefan points out, this will be "the song" that will get all the attention. A terrible idea in my opinion. If it is a bad song in general, the huge majority of people won't be interested in the rest of the album. Again, if this song doesn't have intelligent lyrics and is filled with trite, overdone, unoriginal cliches, the whole "getting free publicity" will backfire. One thing I have loved about this Site is that it is generally anti-political. If this song (and its repercussions) is going to turn Maccaboard into a political social network, than I will gladly leave.

Rich celebrities that tell people how to live... like TV star Donald Trump? I still think Paul has nothing to lose. He does tons of promotional stuff when his albums come out and he can't even get to #1 anyway. So, yeah, I'd be advising him to get as much publicity for this song as he can get. There's a lot of upside here. I'd hate, though, for some of his supporters to become the 2017 version of the US Southerners after John's "Bigger than Jesus" remark.

BJ, I'm sure the Mods will require a separate thread for discussing this new song and the political aspects of it, so just avoid that thread. No need to leave the entire forum!
