"Off The Ground" re-release

The Bob Clearmountain mix of the title song is a ripper!
...overall I enjoy the album, but as someone posted, Peace In The Neighbourhood is pretty lame, and the production lacks something: other than that, I like it!I wouldn't say "Peace" is so bad. It has a nice bluesy guitar solo and the lyrics are OK too. The version on Paul Is Live is great! Both Flowers in the Dirt and Off The Ground launched huge tours by Paul. I like 'em both!

Will it have "Long Leather Coat" as a bonus cut? That song should have been on the official album. I really did like "Hope Of Deliverance". I found his fondness for "Biker Like An Icon" baffling...did it on SNL. Just thought it was a dumb song. Ditto C'Mon People. Went on way too long and was a bit too obvious and, in the end, embarrassing in its simplicity of sentiment. IMO. The title cut was good, however. And Paul does that gift for melody. There are some other nice spots. To me, it was FITD, part 2.

That's a pretty good summation of just about every Paul McCartney album! I actually kind of agree with you, except I really like C'MON PEOPLE and thought it every moving live. Yeah, and BIKER LIKE AN ICON, I think it was 'meh.' Sounded like a jam more than a strong McCartney song. But I can find that on all of Paul's LPs since 2002, including NEW.

Love that song - also loved 'Kicked Around No More...this is why Off the Ground - Complete Works was mentioned earlier in the thread...Some of these bonus cuts would've added a lot to this album...hard to say what I'd cut off the album in return for these songs...I'm not anti-Biker Like an Icon like a number of people seem to be (and no, I didn't find Vanilla Sky, which I didn't care for so much, to be some reworked version of that song - as some pm.com members had opinioned at the time)... I guess the songs I skip the most include Peace in the Neighborhood and Get Out of My Way...I'm on the bubble with I Owe It All To You - probably, as far as Paul songs go with me, one of his songs that I've changed my opinion back and forth on the most...right now I'm luke warm on it...LOL

I would have bought this if they decided to reissue and remaster The Complete Works.

Looks like no bonus material at all, unfortunately.

I like the album, although the production could have been drier.
Yeah, it was really wet for me too. sorry, wtf does "drier" mean?

Wasn't Biker a one take job? That might explain the jam vibe about it, I can see where you're coming from.

How about we take some dry and some wet and call it a cement mix? :

In general, "wet" has more echo, "dry" is more intimate, vocals kind of right in your ear (see "Yesterday").

Why is 'Biker' a dumb song? I've always liked it.

It's not...and I like it as well (will mention that I prefer the Paul is Live version though...but still, I like the album version too)

Nancy, Are you a "stand-up" commedianne? At least once a week, you make me roar with laughter. We all need that! If you are ever appearing around the Tampa area, let me know. I'll be first in line.

Thanks BJ! (btw, I hesitate to ask, but what does BJ stand for?) ops: No, I'm not a professional comic! I'm actually an RN in the operating room, and we joke around a lot to relieve the stress!

__________________________________________________ Now you're making me laugh again. Just stands for my first and middle name...Bernie and John. I see you've attended most/all Paul's tours/concerts in Atlanta over the years. I've done the same in the Philadelphia Area. I now am retired and snowbird between Philly and the Tampa area so I am hoping to see Macca at either location (or both) in 2014. I really want to hear those "NEW" songs live. I know I'm dreaming but I'm hoping he does 7-8 songs from NEW. Being in an operating room does seem like a lot of stress. Maybe you should be a comic. I've got the time so maybe I can be you're manager.

Right! I can do that in my retirement! (I just went part-time to evenings so I can stand to work for another 5 years or so until I'm 64!) Yeah, I missed the 2005 tour (2 kids in college!) and the 2009 one-off show in Piedmont Park (too f-ing hot out and I can't stand General Admission) I hope Paul makes it back to Atlanta so I don't have to travel and pay for hotel room--makes the $1500 for VIP seats much easier on the wallet! (I only did that once in Memphis)

I was puzzled as well when I saw it in Newbury comics (local cd/dvd/pop culture chain of stores in the boston area) as well. Why not put it in a deluxe version if you are going to re release it?

I guess the answer is they didn't think enough people would buy it, and it probably wouldn't get much press coverage. Which is not to say I don't think they should have released it with the "Complete Works" bonus disc, because I think they should have! Anyone who's going to buy this album at all probably wouldn't mind paying for that extra disc, right?

Right! That's the ONLY reason I would buy it!!
