SECOND SINGLE FROM "NEW" - "QUEENIE EYE"
-
So I take it going to all the trouble to have stars in the video was only for it to go viral on YouTube and not to be played on TV in aid of pushing the single in the charts? I would have thought it would chart in the UK as a few of his recent singles including Tropical Island Hum hit the top 20

Fly Paul.... I have seen nothing in Australia promoting this album... that being said, I don't watch a lot of free-to-air TV. It's all X-factor, Big Brother, Home and Away, The Bachelor crapola.... I'm consigned to cable. I remember George being on The Ray Martin Show promoting Cloud 9... I might even have it on an old VHS tape.... might be on the same tape with Murray Wrenstead missing that goal..... (As Max would say, sorry about that)... But we have no equivalent for anyone to plug anything. I'll tell you one thing.... I've got a gut instinct that Paul will announce a tour to Australia real soon.
-
I had felt it in my waters for many a year, but at age 71 you feel he would do perhaps smaller tours in countries he hasn't done as art of a world tour, it would be fantastic to farewell or welcome again Paul, it wont sink in what we have had for 71 years until he is gone for many

"Queenie Eye" should be longer, in order to prolong the pleasure I love Queenie Eye Makes me wanna holler! Go "Oh My Macca" (LOL) instead of "Oh My Papa" by Eddie Fisher, which I've never actually heard. I read Eddie's autobiography.

This came out even before I was born!

As I just noted in another thread, Queenie Eye has finally made an appearance on the Triple A airplay chart in the U.S. Not exactly a big radio hit, but small glimmers of life: http://www.fmqb.com/Article.asp?id=255603

Kind of random, but I'm wondering if "Queenie Eye" is where the Beatles got that line in "Christmas Time Is Here Again" from..."O-U-T- spells out"... I knew it sounded familiar...then I finally remembered where I had heard it!
Any British folks on the board play this as a kid? It is an elimination game, so you do get out as you go, but I don't know if they spell it.
Somebody earlier in this thread said that they used to play it, but would say "Queenio, Queenio!"
Yep it was me Nancy I still play it with my grand-kiddies http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queenie,_Queenie,_who%27s_got_the_ball%3F

Queenie Eye doesn't seem to be picking up much airplay in the UK, is it actually an official single or just a featured album track? Also, just found out that 'New' reached number 9 in the Japanese singles chart...

I'm not sure what you mean. In 2013, a single is a featured album track that's promoted to radio, etc. Physical singles are sighted slightly less often than the Loch Ness monster these days. But in all the announcements for the video, etc., it's been referred to as the new single.

However, on iTunes they do sometimes pull a track off an album as a separate "single" that you can buy on its own, with its own artwork. They do this all the time with new artists, such as Lorde, Jake Bugg, Frank Turner, and others; and occasionally with older artists like Eric Clapton. The upside of this strategy is that it gives a bit more visibility to the track, but the downside is that then the sales get split between the album track and the single, and they chart separately on iTunes. Yes, I know, a lot of people here don't use or care about iTunes, but there it is!

Unless it was delayed I think Queenie Eye was released as a single on 24th October.

I'm back to sing the praises of "Queenie Eye".... For me, after almost a month of listens, this continues to be the standout track on the album. This song continues to stand above a very well made crowded group of songs. It captures the "magic" of Paul, the Beatles, Wings, Solo efforts etc. Its rare for any one single song to do that, but this one does. I think we are very lucky to have this one as I see it standing amongst his best from his career. What a treat! On a side note, my youngest, who is about 6 years old, loves this one too. Maybe its the spelling part of the song, but he loves it. Its beyond a joy to see him, the next generation, enjoying and embracing the same music I love. I'm sure that won't last forever, but for now its a true treat.

Yes I agree I teach drama to children and have introduced the Queenie eye game as a warm up I played the song a couple of times in classes and they went wild for it!! Just such a shame it can't get airtime think younger people would download it I'm sure
