Paul's upcoming album review they say its HOT!

*Perry*:
I think Helen Wheels is an ill fit on Band On The Run****, there's a certain thematic thread that goes through all the tracks and Helen Wheels doesn't uphold it, despite the Sailor Sam reference. I guess if it's always been there then you're going to think differently but it does disrupt the mood of the piece somewhat and I'm sure Paul would agree.
Maybe, but it gives the album a nice jolt of energy and seems to be placed well on the album. I'm pleased it was added.....by whomever it was that made that decision.

I'm assuming the silence about the new album is due to his marketing machine carefully focusing on whatever the priority is at the moment. They wanted to be sure to sell as many WOA reissues as po__ssible without the distraction of a work-in-progress. I'm sure that he does set preconditions on interviews (like Rolling Stone and Stephen Colbert) to stick to the current topic. In recent years especially, they do their best to make every McCartney project an event. Mark my words, there will be a marketing bonanza around the new album, then probably further reissues starting next year... unless he puts out another live album first!
oh yeah...I see those WOA commercials all the time.
Well, that's not what I was saying. I'm saying the marketing machine for that has been aimed straight at us, via emails and the website homepage and that kind of thing. The new album will be marketed mostly to us, too, I think, as far as singles, deluxe versions of the album, etc. Still, I expect he will be blitzing the talk shows, the morning "news" shows, radio stations, and so on. The album won't sell in massive amounts, but it could hit #1 if the timing is right, and let's face it, Paul likes the publicity. Even for "Electric Arguments" he did "The View" and that outdoor concert for David Letterman's show. He certainly won't be hiding himself this time, even if the majority of young people completely miss it.
Recent McCartney records have charted pretty high the first week of release but drop real quick after that unfortunately.
That's the standard pattern with established artists. The fan base all buys the album the first week and then sales trail off. Radio play, touring, TV appearances and viral videos can help keep things going. It's hard for older artists to get on the radio, but it would help if Paul managed to release a single and video of the same song at the same time, which they didn't do for MAF in the U.S. (where we got Ever Present Past as a (fairly successful) radio single and a simultaneous video for Dance Tonight. I don't get where people are coming from saying there's a lack of promotion for the WOA reissue. He's touring and went on The Colbert Report, one of the hotter late-night shows. That's pretty decent.
IMO- McCartney could have the greatest marketing team in the world and I don't think it would matter with sales of his new records. Like you said, people into his new music will buy it early but most of the people attending his concerts and on this website just care about him playing his Beatle hits live. CHAOS got critical acclaim (even RS - lol) and McCartney went on TV and toured with it. CHAOS also was nominated for major Grammy awards and McCartney played "Fine Line" on the award ceremony show. With all that, the record sold decently but was nowhere close to being a blockbuster selling record.
What was even more depressing was that he lost to Kelly Clarkson, an American Idol winner! Yes, she's a good singer, but to beat Paul McCartney on one his best efforts ever, was humiliating...to me. The voters were just being nasty jerks, much as they were during the Beatles' days when the voters rarely honored them.
-
...and she'd conveniently "forgotten" to thank the show that was responsible for her fame in her speech. And Bono, when accepting U2's Grammy, said to Coldplay (who were in the audience): "Next year, it's going to be you guys." Um...excuse me...Paul McCartney was in the friggin' room, ya' know. Oy vey. Just when I thought I was over the '06 Grammys. All the pain is coming back.

I Like to see him on Graham Norton....
Rod did it, so you never know
-
Well I hope I'm wrong but these endless delays and apparent lack of interest by Macca himself (can't contain himself after playing with three guys from Seattle no one would recognize in the street...don't get me wrong I like Grohl/Foo Fighters but come on...) remind me of the "Press to Play" situation and that's not a very good thing!
-
I don't think I would say Macca's total lack of interest. But I do think that they are juggling too many balls at once. I think the main problem is that every little detail must be approved by the man himself so with him out on tour, it makes it very tough

I bet Graham would too!

Another reason Paul's album is sure to come out this fall: Can you imagine the media blitz coming early next year for the 50th anniversary of Ed Sullivan and the invasion of America??
-
And because of that significant anniversary, I predict that "Eight Days A Week" will be replaced by "I Wanna Hold Your Hand."
-
Doubt you'll hear I want to hold your hand this year. If anything gets changed, It'll be to add the new album songs into the set IMO. Makes more sense to promote the new album. Next year, I doubt you'll see anything until at least April or May again as has been the model for awhile now. Again, hope i'm wrong but this is the way he's been doing things.

Going to the grocery store awhile ago, listening to you know who, and had the following idea: Put out a double album this fall, the first CD being the long awaited, much anticipated new studio recording. The second one various live tracks from Out There that he has either never done live before this tour either away from the Beatles or at all (Eight Days A Week, All Together Now, Mother Should Know, Lovely Rita) or kept on the shelf for quite some time (Another Day, Listen to What the Man Said, Hi Hi Hi). Plus toss in My Valentine and Mull of Kintyre since a live version of that has never appeared on an album before (one did come out on the All My Trials CD single in early 90s) Put in 1985 and in Ob-La De Ob- a Da as those hit the stage after the 2009 live New York album. Heck, let's add Come and Get It from those European dates a few years ago, those of us in the States missed that live. Then, there we have it, Paul In There (studio) and Out There (the road). Make that the title... IN THERE AND OUT THERE P.S...Something like this was the original idea for Red Rose Speedway, one studio LP, one live and as you all know we only got the first LP.

Though my thinking it would help sales wise? Maybe? Although unfortunately the established artists, like others have already mentioned won't get the sales of a newer artist.
