New in the Charts Thread

Billboard just announced a top secret Beatles project coming soon, I believe I called it Jaw Dropping, the other day. Sadly the engineer said he wasn't allowed to talk about it yet, because it was top secret..
Maybe the long-awaited and oft-rumored "Carnival Of Light" release? I'd rather get some unreleased tracks, if any even exist anymore.

Is the "new" show playing in Canada? :
-
Could the "secret" Beatles announcement be the: **Rerelease of the Beatles' Love Songs Album (I think it had a brown cover) If I were in charge of Beatles Marketing team, I would add 2 Love Songs each (great ones) from John, Paul, George and Ringo's Solo Career as Bonus tracks. Now that would be a great package of Love Songs by the greatest Pop/Rock Band of all time.

Do you get either of these stations on your cable/satellite? Palladia or VH-1 Classics? It is on VH-1 Classics Dec. 13th at 9 pm.

By the way a million units sold now, is about the same as 2 million units 15-20 years ago, because the record, and cd business has shrunk in half, during that timespan.
It better be a big bump : NEW down from 94 to 120 in its 7th week on Billboard.

I don't see the Beatle 50th translating into major sales for NEW. It's not a Beatle CD.

On the bright side, Cher fell from 36 to 122, so he's holding better than that!

I only mention it because there has been significant discussion here about her album doing better than his. Certainly not equating them, other than they both gained fame in the sixties.

The album is doing better globally ay, all the more reason to treat the non US and UK fans to his live shows

It is interesting that I am hearing more New songs on Sirius XM lately. I don't listen to any local radio. New is still being played on Channel 16 The Blend and it hit #1 on The Spectrum's (Channel 28 ) Bakers Dozen weekly countdown a while back. Queenie Eye is #8 currently on the Baker's Dozen and rising. And, I heard Appreciate yesterday on The Loft (Channel 30). I almost drove off the road - could not believe it. Gotta say it sounded awesome coming over the radio. I think it has a future. Good to see Paul still getting good satellite airtime, as well as many of their DJs (including Alan Hunter) absolutely loving the album.

How can he sell without any promotion. He promoted before the album came out. Huge mistake!!! After that he promoted in Japan and the album did and is doing very well in there. Just wait for his shows appears and the album will show up again. But Linkin Park sold 33.000 in their first week. Avril sold about the same in her third week. Celine Dion, Eric Clapton, Elton John, Cher, all big names, and all of them sold less than New. But they are promoting his albums, Paul are not. If he wants to sell more he will have to come back with his tour. But c´mon, relax, selling cds these days tells nothing. I know many fans of him who didn´t bought and some of them didn´t even knew about the releasing. But some of them still planing to buy. I bought one to give as Xmas present. So, when he comes back touring (his tour is always number one in charts) the album is gonna be heard and people will get curious. Just wait. So, with no promotion at all, and the album selling more than lots of big names, NEW is showing a little power, only needs to be heard on live shows.

Wouldn't the Something New special be considered promotion after the album was released?

And with reruns such as recently on Jimmy Fallon, Mc. can promote the cd without even being there!

I haven't kept up lately, I reckon McCartney must getting very close to half a million units sold worldwide. He was about 400K last time I checked and that was over a week or ten days ago I think. So yeah, when he tours the states, UK and Europe, does some additional promo, and just the Holidays I imagine he will sell an extra twenty thousand copies over the next couple weeks for people getting their spouse, significant other, parents, sibling a copy of NEW for the Hoidays Don't forget the Beatles have a lot of big releases scheduled for 2014 for the Beatles 50th anniversary, in the USA< so there will be tons of extra news coverage and free promotion. NEW is a funny album, the way the sales figures are going, and the timing, not so hot in the USA, but generally good numbers worldwide, some big promotion snafus, bad timing, He'll get there, I dont know if he can still sell five or six million copies as a solo artist at this late date, but he can certainly still sell one or two million, and thats not bad fora 71 year old guy. As a live act, I think he is number one in the world for the last five to ten years, and he should be able to maintain that for a few more years. All the money is in live concerts for him right now, if there was more money in albums he'd be pushing it harder. The big Beatles push will refocus more people's attention on NEW and the Beatles I think

I Liked Something New ....should have called it 'Better Late then New"
