Yeah! I'm old enough to remember the first song/video played in 1981! (Video Killed the Radio Star)

And here's footage from MTV's launch date:
The only bad thing is that they refused to play black artists for their first two years. : -

So now Paul has crept back into the top 100 on Billboard, moving from #106 to #98. Not gangbusters, but much better than dropping further! He could actually get a further bump up in the next couple of weeks, as all the Christmas/holiday albums currently flooding the chart above him start to drop off.

________________________________________________ Wow, this is a pleasant surprise. Because there has been very little (if any) concrete US promotion from Paul and his team since NEWwas released (October 15) this shows that "word of mouth" and all those favorable reviews are paying off. The quality of NEW continues to gain positive recognition and many of those "baby boomers" out there are starting to buy. If Paul does decide to tour America again in 2014 and plays a healthy dosage of NEW songs, NEW will stay strong on the Billboard Album Charts throughout the NEW YEAR. That would be pretty great.

It's conceivable he could bounce up higher again next week, since there are so many holiday albums above him that will inevitably start to tumble off the chart.

End of year Global Album Chart sales are out and they show what a shocking year it's been for album sales only three albums out of the top 40 manage to get over 3million . David Bowie's The Next Day comes in tops for the older guys with a respectable #28 and 1.2million sales , I still say Paul should have released NEW earlier in the year like Bowie . http://www.mediatraffic.de/year-end-albums.htm

A 'concept album' is almost a thing of the past.... Unfortunately the concept 'album' is heading the same way. It's all singles and downloads these days.... although I fling my hat at a rack and I hope that both will come back into fashion. I do hope the tide will turn. And it surely will... That being said, I don't own a hat.

Bowie's album came out in March so seven months ahead of NEW, so it will be interesting to compare NEW's sales further down the line. As many have said Bowie being away for a decade helped too.

The CW is re-airing the iHeartRadio Festival this coming Monday and Tuesday, which might help some as well. Glad to see the album is continuing to have a commercial life, even if it's not quite at the top of the charts.
