Paul's New Album-- "New"-- CONFIRMED
-
About bloody time too best news I have had in a long long long time. Played NEW 3 times, initial impression pleasant and not bad but being an old fogey, I am never sure about hearing stuff off the pc. I am so glad that he hasn't used the techie stuff to cover up the inevitable ravages of time on the vocal cords. I am still liking his singing after 50 years. Bugger I hope he doesn't do any signings in England as I cant bloody well go this time, not sure this time I could stop meself from asking for Mary's and cilla's numbers.

Due out Oct. 14th. 14 songs. Entitled "New". New single out on iTunes UK! Also called "New"
So since I don't use iTunes I can't buy the single?
Actually I say this but I already got someone else to download it for me! Don't like the dominance of iTunes though. And it won't even work on my Linux machine...

Eeee Cor Blimey:
i do worry slightly that the critics will have a field day (in a bad way) saying Paul is living off past 60s glories and can't do anything "new" (pun intended!) I like the single But i do prefer "fine line" as a lead off single, chaos and maf were so so so so so good to me i worry that for once i won't be blown away by a new album. But i hope i will. re the single on i tunes then - does this mean we've finally hit the point with Paul where there is no physical single release?
err (rude word inserted here) the critics. I stopped reading them ie the MM and NME in 75 when I used 3 dictionaries 15 times ( or so) for one paragraph and it was still garbage, no it wasn't a Beatle review. Lol love the spell check made beatle into Beatle

I'm unable to get to the interviews. Did he talk about the inspiration for the song at all? I'm going back and forth between Nancy and John but when he says "I was searching for a rhyme" it reminds me of the backstory to writing I Saw Her Standing There ("she was just seventeen, she'd never been a beauty queen" changing )

listened too it all day and like it more everytime i hear it for me its the best lead off single since My Brave Face ps little sad it likely wont be issued as a CD Single have some nice memories of buying Paul's singles That Way

Hopefully, 'New" will outsell 'Silly Love Songs". It should be a big hit in the States anyway.
I wouldn't expect much chart impact...regardless of how catchy it is and enjoyed amongst *most* fans. Paul just doesn't make that dent on the hot 100 charts here anymore... DRIVING RAIN -From a Lover to a Friend...didn't chart -Freedom...#97 CHAOS AND CREATION -Fine Line...didn't chart -Jenny Wren...didn't chart Memory Almost Full -Dance Tonight...#69 -Ever Present Past...didn't chart
Paul's singles have fared a little better over here in the UK over recent years, but only in the top thirty of the chart. Paul's last top 20 hit over here was Fine Line at number 20 in 2005 and Young Boy made 19 in 1997, but fans just don't buy his singles anymore. The weird thing for me is that 2013 is the year that marks 26 years since Paul had a UK top ten hit, that means his had more lean years now that hit years which seemed inconceivable all those years ago.
The singles charts here seem now to be the sole territory of the "young" bands and X factor winners rather than serious artists, maybe as i get older i notice it more but i dont know.

There's always been crap on the charts, from "Little Green Apples" to "Disco Duck" to "I've Never Been To Me" to "Harlem Shake", and Paul has always been better!

I would not pre-order ANYTHING until it is all out there on the main site. I may not pre-order anything at all, unless there is a perk to it. You never know what they may come up with before the release.
I pre-ordered the deluxe version on Amazon today. Super easy to cancel order if needed and they will give you the lowest price if it changes before the release date.

Disco Duck? Had forgotten that silly thing existed! What a waste. New is racking up the hits on Youtube. I love the little false ending that comes back, very clever.

Am I allowed to post the link to the title track in here? I am VERY excited. This is probably his best work since Flaming Pie...and I'm just saying that based off of one song. It sounds SO much like The Beatles but it sounds well...new I'm loving it very much....Love the title too!
I'm a little disappointed in the song, to be honest with you. I'd give it a 7/10, and that's OK. It's a perfect album track, but I can't believe that this is the best song on the album. I just have this feeling there is going to be a track that stands out even more. He's done this a few times in the past 20 years - picking singles that shouldn't have been first singles. See From a Lover to a Friend and Fine Line. Like I said, it's OK. But it doesn't make me go wow. And I wanted to say 'wow' when I heard this. I guess I have too high expectations.

What did Amazon say the DELUXE Edition included. How much was it to pre-order?

Great single. Horrible song/album title. C'mon...are there any competent Marketing people on Paul's payroll??
It's a bad album title in the respect that we are doomed for tons of 'new' puns. Here comes Paul's 'New' album, etc. Album cover is nice. It's growing on me.

It's very good, I haven't been hooked on a song immediately since... well, since eighteen months ago and My Valentine but really as a lead single off of a proper album it's better than, oh, all of them for about 25 years or something close to that. It's New. Thankyou Paul.
The last great song to lead off an album was In the World Tonight/Young Boy, depending on what country you were in. IMO

This new song sounds to tame and safe to me. I was hoping for something more exciting and energetic. I hope this is just a preview and not the first single.
It's the first single, but I approve this post. I agree, it just seems too ... safe. Just like Fine Line (should have been Promise to You Girl) or From a Lover to a Friend (Should have been About Your or Lonely Road first).

My thoughts on the song: 1) I love it, but it doesn't feel like a single for today's market. I can easily hear it piping out of office speakers and malls, etc., but it doesn't fit into today's charts. Someone brought up Bublé's "Haven't Met You Yet"; yes, similar thing, bouncy and fun, but didn't hit the top of the charts, although you can hear it everywhere you go. 2) I notice it's on iTunes only as an album track, and not as a stand-alone single too, as you would expect for a true single, so maybe this is more of a "preview" track after all. 3) Seems to function the same way as the title track of "Flaming Pie": a jaunty little self-referential number, tucked at the end of Side One. (Yes, I do think there'll be vinyl of the 12-track album!) 4) People keep mentioning the Beach Boys in the harmonies at the end, but I don't really hear that so much. They were more about a laid-back California vibe; this seems more like olde traditional English, like a cappella caroling almost (kind of like what "Glee" does in between scenes), and certainly Baroque touches! 5) Again, I love it! It's aimed straight at Paul/Beatles fans, and it's instantly memorable!
Indulge me! No one refuted any of this.

ok, listened to it a couple of times...not really thrilled, from that similar style I preferred "Fine Line", the "horns" are a nice touch though. George and John's "granny" music, eh? The biggest problem of course is his voice, so hoarse, a tad painful to hear...odd they couldn't make it sound better in the studio? Well I guess they didn't cheat at least.
The song is okay but the production is awful (seems to be a drum machine and synth horns and strings). And his voice isn't good either. No doubt I'm in the minority. Does not bode well for the album in my opinion. Hopefully, I'm wrong.
Seriously, what is it with the synths? Hire someone to come in, or people will volunteer for free to play with McCartney. NO EXCUSES why he shouldn't have horns/orchestra in studio/in concert anymore. It's just lazy.

Not much. But the iTunes Brazil deluxe edition that some people were linking to has 14 tracks instead of 12. Here's the Amazon link: http://www.amazon.com/New-Deluxe-Edition-Paul-McCartney/dp/B00EUS9JF0/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1377828394&sr=8-4&keywords=paul+mccartney+new+deluxe+edition parlance
