Paul's New Album-- "New"-- CONFIRMED
-
Just heard the "New" single on BBC Radio 2 breakfast show (with a short interview with Macca). Well I thought it was brilliant!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Paul back to Beatleesque music..Love it, love it love it
-
OOPS1 I started a "new" thread on this before seeing everyone is discussing it on here....perhaps the Mods can merge my "new" thread into this one. I think this is Macca at his pop/beatlesque best. I know others will disagree but this is the best thing he has released in since MAF.
-
Just heard this as well, its a very catchy song. Good interview with Paul And the albums out on 14th October, can't wait for that.
-
It's so 60/70's which is my favourite era of Pauls......................hope the rest of the album is like this......................cant wait
-
left hand man:
This new song sounds to tame and safe to me. I was hoping for something more exciting and energetic. I hope this is just a preview and not the first single.
it's more than safe actually, it's pretty and catchy like "ever present past" or "Dance Tonight". but I agree it can not fit as a first single from a long waited album, a track that can jump to at least into top5. I think the album would have a more classic type McCartney. we are blessed to hear a new material from Paul.

i do worry slightly that the critics will have a field day (in a bad way) saying Paul is living off past 60s glories and can't do anything "new" (pun intended!) I like the single But i do prefer "fine line" as a lead off single, chaos and maf were so so so so so good to me i worry that for once i won't be blown away by a new album. But i hope i will. re the single on i tunes then - does this mean we've finally hit the point with Paul where there is no physical single release?
-
Well the critics will always slag him......who cares its the fans that count.....and we want MORE
-
hmmmm...... i'm on my 4th listen and i love it more already! 1st listen = i had reservations... by the 4th listen = happy music!!

Sir Paul is going to be speaking live on BBC6 at 9:30 London time this morning, which is in half an hour. (It's the middle of the night here in the states, but I'm staying up!) http://www.bbc.co.uk/6music/on-air

Love It Very catchy great production too cant wait for the Album

So the news has dropped, never been so excited to read a "What's New With Paul McCartney?" email So "NEW", eh ? Reminds me of the "Press to Play" concept, hopefully the album will be better! Can't wait to hear the song now, the email linked to iTunes but I can't find anything there, hopefully it will make it to YouTube soon. OK, it's here :
-
ok, listened to it a couple of times...not really thrilled, from that similar style I preferred "Fine Line", the "horns" are a nice touch though. George and John's "granny" music, eh? The biggest problem of course is his voice, so hoarse, a tad painful to hear...odd they couldn't make it sound better in the studio? Well I guess they didn't cheat at least.

A BEAUTIFUL SONG OF PAUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The song is okay but the production is awful (seems to be a drum machine and synth horns and strings). And his voice isn't good either. No doubt I'm in the minority. Does not bode well for the album in my opinion. Hopefully, I'm wrong.

A disappointment for me the song (and when you compare it to say My Valentine it cant hold a candle to it),over produced but undercooked if that makes sense, half a dozen listens in and still feel the same, hope the album is better than this.
-
Yeah, the song is ok and the production decent (not great), so on par with "Young Boy" I guess but not with "My Brave Face" or "Fine Line" for sure or even "Ever Present Past". One of the problems (other than the voice but it is what it is at this point) is the silly/uninspired title, brings back bad memories of "Press to Play"/"Press", you'd think he'd want to stay as far as away as possible from that fiasco (sales, Eric Stewart credits, etc...) !

This is a 'shuffle beat' song. Shuffle Beat songs are instantly catchy regardless of the tune. You could do 'Three Blind Mice' as a shuffle beat and it would be a hit/commercial. So it's kind of cheating in my opinion (an easy hit) - notice how many recent chart hits have been in the shuffle beat rhythm, it's a bit of a trend at the moment - they are usually assured at least airplay hit status if the artist is an established name. Having said all that, I really like 'New', and Macca hasn't done too many shuffle beat tracks over the years. Great composition by Paul and production by Ronson, and Paul nails the vocals. I ALWAYS miss Linda though on BVs, still can't get used to her missing from the mix!
