Paul's New Album-- "New"-- CONFIRMED
-
I don't want to wait a year to pick up the Exclusive at The Dollar Store! "What you mean we spell wrong? No, we spell right!" Podgie (I'm sure I will probably end up collecting all the international versions) Monkey

So we have to buy two copies if we want every song then. That's not so bad.
Is this serious?

Some positive feedback for Paul's iHeartRadio performance: http://www.billboard.com/articles/columns/music-festivals/5719349/iheartradio-music-festival-saturday-justin-timberlake-takes "McCartney came onstage hours before Drake and Timberlake, and treated his early performance as a testing ground for new material. The upcoming "New" full-length got three songs plopped into the eight-song set list, and while McCartney understandably wanted to promote his first new album in six years at a high-profile event, the emphasis on fresh songs was heavier, and ultimately more successful, than expected. Macca's inclusion of "Magical Mystery Tour," "Lady Madonna" and "Live and Let Die" kept the folks in the bleacher seats pleased, but new cuts like "Everybody Out There" and "Save Us" were far from obligatory. Who knows -- maybe Macca's inventive set will prevent him for being scheduled to open for Zedd next year."

Yes. I'm not going to get two though. With Chaos you had to buy 4 CD singles and the Japanese import to get all of the tracks. All of that lot retailed at more than 2 albums. So there.

anyway, KCRW is offering the mp3 for New for free on their website http://www.kcrw.com/music/programs/tu/tu130923paul_mccartney_new?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+kcrw%2Ftu+%28Today%27s+Top+Tune%29 I know most of us will be buying the album anyway in a couple of weeks but if you haven't downloaded the single yet, here it is, free and legal.

Have you noticed the new tracklisting item on the official site? Now Giles Martin gets additional production credits for two album songs, plus two of the bonus tracks are listed. And I could swear that "Road" originally had Giles Martin listed as the producer, not Paul Epworth (??). Standard and deluxe both include: 1. Save Us (produced by Paul Epworth) 2. Alligator (produced by Mark Ronson) 3. On My Way To Work (produced by Giles Martin) 4. Queenie Eye (produced by Paul Epworth) 5. Early Days (produced by Ethan Johns with additional production by Giles Martin) 6. New (produced by Mark Ronson with additional production by Giles Martin) 7. Appreciate (produced by Giles Martin) 8. Everybody Out There (produced by Giles Martin) 9. Hosanna (produced by Ethan Johns) 10. I Can Bet (produced by Giles Martin) 11. Looking At Her (produced by Giles Martin) 12. Road (produced by Paul Epworth) Deluxe includes bonus tracks: 13. Turned Out (produced by Ethan Johns with additional production by Giles Martin) 14. Get Me Out Of Here (produced by Giles Martin)

yeah but buying singles in your own country to get b sides was a great thing that everyone (and i mean everyone!) did for 40 years! You can't compare the fun of buying singles for b sides to that of hunting down forgeign imports of full albums I know now that singles are dead there is no medium for "b sides", but why not just put 4 bonus tracks on the album, or slot them into the album, not make albums in different countries have different songs on. Anyway, i'll be buying the UK one, and ripping the audio off youtube for the rest unfortunately - i would happily buy singles but i don't support this album way of doing things
-
The crazy thing is that I happily paid $10-15 for import CD singles from the UK (I'm in the US) when they were available, but now it feels unfair to buy the whole album twice, even when the ultimate price is not all that different (or cheaper, perhaps)! Still, it's much more of a puzzle to put together than it used to be, for those of us who want all the songs. And I don't have as much physical space for all these extra CDs now as I did before! Yes, Michelley, you're right: we're probably too obsessed about this.

I feel the same, it was fun to track down those singles but this an entirely different matter. It is hard to tell how much of this is truly settled when something like Secret Life of a Party Girl emerges and then (sort of befitting the song title) goes away on these listings. As with KOTB, I don't think there will be true clarity on this until the release date arrives. This album though is far more important than KOTB.

I agree: I won't feel confident about any of this until the release date either.

One thing is cleared up: the song "Scared" is almost certainly a hidden track on all versions of the album (someone added up the official track timings to deduce this). That's why some track listings say 12 tracks and others say 13 for the standard edition, and this is why the French deluxe version seemed to go from 3 bonus tracks to 2. Right now, it looks like "Secret Life of a Party Girl" is only available on the Japanese CD and the iTunes deluxe version. "Turned Out" and "Get Me Out Of Here" are on ALL deluxe versions (except the Best Buy exclusive with deluxe packaging but no extra music, and I guess not on iTunes either). Still unclear if the Walmart version actually has three bonus tracks, or if they're counting "Scared."

Amazon UK has the UK bonus tracks listed as Scared and Secret Life of a Party Girl Amazon US has the US bonus tracks listed as Turned Out and Get Me Out of Here

Perhaps the UK one should have a song entitled Secret Life of a Deluxe Version with clues as to what songs are on which deluxe versions in which countries!

Me too. I might wait until the Complete New CD is released around Easter next year.
-
I always end up getting the standard edition the day of release and then wait for a comprehensive deluxe edition to drop Anyway, I love the cover for the deluxe edition!
-
You mean the "deluxe" cover is the colorful neon one that's kind of gorgeous and the "standard" cd cover is just those stark harsh black lines???!!!??

So, on a different subject, I'm seriously thinking of going to see "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2" this weekend so I can hear "New" with proper sound, instead of my crappy computer speakers. Is this insane? Anyone else thinking of doing it? Once before I went to a movie just to hear a Paul song: "Father's Day," which used "Young Boy" for the opening sequence and "The World Tonight" over the end credits. I'd heard TWT but not "Young Boy." That opening sequence was pretty much the best thing in the movie, which achieved the amazing feat of making Robin Williams and Billy Crystal not funny.
