TO MANY FREE GIGS IN USA!!

Yeah he's gonna be in Japan, so he could hop on over to Oz I would love that! It's going to be exciting to see the Japanese reaction to his huge gigs there, and would be greatly exciting too to witness the wild extravagant Aussie response--while reading celebrity biographies, every time they've played Oz gigantic uber-enthusiastic masses of fans turn out raving, I noted. They really, truly appreciate it when the greats and even not-so greats appear down there at the bottom of the world. It's marvelous to see.

The U.S.A. was like the Promised Land to the Fabs when just starting out, and was very very good to them. He's never forgotten (how could he?). Maybe he feels much more beloved in the U.S. than in the U.K. and Oz. Some sort of brouhaha with the Aussie press happened years ago, and there may be a few too many haters in the U.K. for him to stomach at times.
Well, that or $$$. The U.S. is the biggest music market in the world, after all. I think that's the bottom line (no pun intended).
yep...bottom line.

hengirl:
Playing devils advocate here but most of the big names have found their way down under to Oz,from Springsteen to Pink and shapes and sizes in between
And what's interesting about Springsteen is that he spent all of 2013 touring Australia, Europe, and South America; he did not do ANY tour shows in the USA this year! I also don't get why Paul is ignoring Australia, I really wish he would make it there and give you a proper tour.

not this AGAIN suzy?!

You think it's just me? Haven't you read all the remarks from posters about "haters" making horrible offensive comments about Macca on the British online newspaper sites, and elsewhere? And I've been reading in here for years that Paul isn't properly appreciated as a national treasure in England, by many there.
-
Going all the way to Australia just for three or four shows probably isn't all that practical. It's pointless to compare him to somebody like Springsteen who's more popular and respected internationally than Paul, not to mention that he tours far more than Paul does.

You're focusing on just one thing. Yeah, by "many" he may not be considered a national treasure, but by many he IS considered a national treasure. Those silly negative comments about Paul on newspaper websites are from people who probably couldn't even name you five non-Beatle Macca songs. They know nothing. What matters is his real fan base and it's his real fan bases across the world who deserve to see Paul play... that includes UK, Australia and many other countries. Also, I remembered reading several positive things about Paul in British newspapers on and offline. I should know. I live in the UK. Really, you can't blame people for complaining about how neglectful Macca's touring plans are. I appreciate that the USA is a huge market and there is, by population, lots of fans there, but that's no excuse to keep other countries in the dark. You'd think Paul would stop it with the supposed money excuse and realise he's a multi multi multi millionaire and go down under to play just for the sheer fun of it and for them to see him at least one more time before he gets too old!

I just can't understand how can any other pop/rock icon be more internationally respected than Paul? He should be the most respected among them all. He is incomparable and puts on the greatest shows ever!

--and is a true legend and icon, and considered the most successful songwriter of all time, has such an illustrious past and a very productive present, is still writing and performing and all sorts of great things and tries to help animals and the planet and fellow humans, is an activist and has a heart...he wouldn't have to do all that...

YET AGAIN!!!! paul has done another free gig in time square. Its becoming a bit of a joke when he doesnt even come to Australia in over 10 years. Why again does paul give the americans more free quick shows. People are desprate to see him here but oh no because the USA is the world dont bother with any other countrys and quick free shows. how many is that now thats hes done!!!! I HAVE LOST COUNT AND I AM VERY ANGRY!!!! LIKE ON PRESS TO PLAY. PS ISNT HE ENGLISH!!
I agree, he almost risks over-exposure here. One fan I know here in town said that part of what made the Fabs so cool to her in past decades was their reluctance to do any concerts anywhere. She felt that his constant touring respresented too many instances of "coming down from Mount Olympus." Here's hoping he comes to Australia ASAP.

In fairness Pauls touring makes no sense at the best of times after all he's heading to Japan seemingly on a whim with no other dates in the area is he not?and i would add you can make comparisons to Bruce because Paul HAS toured extensively over the past few years only in this little bursts of activity and mainly or seemingly at any rate in America and Brazil etc. Again i play devils advocate here nothing more

This attitude is really beginning to get on my nerves as well. It ignores the fact that the musuc press in the UK, in recent years, has been much more supportive of Paul than any press in the US. It also conveniently ignores the many nasty comments on USA forums about Paul - I have often seen the expression "douche-bag". Charming. Americans, you are in no position to be smug.

Yes, agreed. I actually find it rather offensive.

Uhh last time I checked, Paul is doing two free concerts in the UK next week....
...which most of us can`t get tickets for. But then, even fewer American fans had a chance to get to the 15 minutes long free gig in NYC.

Sorry but you are underestimating Australia a bit there mate, we have more than 3 or major cities. I am a West Australian and I am going to Bruce Springsteen's 3rd sold out show in Perth! And don't forget New Zealand too!!! There could be 10-15 shows easily in Australia and NZ Neil Young, Brian Wilson, Bruce, Roger Waters and others do it, don't give me bullshit of economic feasibility either, for Paul's wealth and age, it would probably be the last time he tours outside the US and UK so why cant it work?
