I agree with you and others about "Let Me Roll It" and would have preferred "Helter Skelter" if he wanted to prove he can rock - lol. Then again, if he did that he would be criticized for doing another Beatle song. Personally, I would have loved something like "Beware My Love" instead of "Let Me Roll It" if he could handle the vocal. I really like the songs from "New" and thrilled he played three of them out of eight songs. IMO - the band and McCartney himself seemed to get into doing the "New" songs, obvious it is more fun doing some different songs. I
I agree with you that he should bring out Beware My Love. Don't know how much longer his voice can do Helter Skelter. That's one of the songs that I always hold my breath for until I hear him "make it". Anfd yes! It must have been fun for all of them to finally do a few NEW songs! Boy, would I LOVE to see a rehearsal video of them all learning the NEW songs!

As others have said Let me roll it really needs to be rolled away and locked in a cupboard and rested for a good while, another song that should be rested is Helter Skelter The new songs sound great apart from New which is ,to me at least a very weak song,it being sung live didn't add anything to it whereas as the other 2 songs sounded fresh but familiar i enjoyed them immensely. As for the appearance,it did its job i suppose which is to try and generate buzz for the album i suspect most of the crowd were there for other artists and sometimes thats a good thing,it moves Paul out of the comfort zone but frankly it was always going to be a hard thing to sell to a young pup an old dude of 71 singing songs that their mum and dads listen to.

Mr. Spock:
To be honest, I wasn't even crazy about the studio version of "Let Me Roll It". Always found it slow for a rock song and even a tad bit dull after repetition sinks in from a series of live performances. I think it was helped by the addition of "Foxy Lady" in Saturday. It's obvious by now that he could still rock; again, I would have preferred "Helter Skelter" or maybe "Jet". Perhaps he'll do one of them on JKL Regardless, even with my disagreement with some songs choices, it was a refreshingly surprising set list just to have the thrill of not having a clue of what was going to come next, as opposed to crossing out songs from a pre-made list. It also helped that he was in top form. Maybe he intentionally does an occasional subpar performance just to mess with us.
I agree with everyone on Let Me Roll It To You. Give it a rest. Part of the problem for me is that I tend to compare it to the WOA version which is incredible in my opinion. Joe, Jimmy and Paul really give it a bluesy rock edge and it is just the right length at 3:45. It doesn't get monotonous. Let Me Roll It To You is a great, great song but any song played all the time eventually gets tiresome. Hopefully one of the songs from the new Album will be its replacement.

I think you are missing the point - lol. McCartney wants the young pups to tell their parents about the songs they heard from that 71 yr old legend

Uploaded this one for you guys, for as long as it will last...
The 'New' songs sound excellent, particularly like Save Us the intro reminds me of Birthday/Back in the USSR. He just needs to come back to UK/Europe to we get the chance to hear them!
-
I'm hearing a strong Back To The Egg influence in "Save Us" -- it reminds me of the same edgy spirit in "Getting Closer" with a dash of 'Rockestra."

Still BTTE? It's a Fireman number & similar to Only Mama Knows. Whatever it is I love it!

Thanks for the upload. I loved the new songs. Save Us in particular. Very good. To me it sounds like a Dave Grohl influence.

Paul has made a career out of taking everyday phrases and making them into world wide hits. I love the "There but for the grace of God go I" chorus. With a little luck.....With a little help from my Friends. Put it there.....These are only a few of the many phrases have put his melodies on the minds of millions. I love it-) I think that's what makes him a genius in my opinion and don't find it lazy but brilliant.

I would love to hear "Beware My Love!" Fantastic, underrated, and a live rarity. About Helter Skelter, I actually think the reverse is true: his aging has given him more of a gritty edge which best shows itself in songs like HS. Let's also not forget "Cut Me Some Slack." I have no doubt that he can still pull off these kinds of songs with ease. Its the more vocally melodic ones that I watch for (ie Maybe I'm Amazed).

Just musing to be honest.

Save Us would be a hit tomorrow if recorded by The Killers. That's the way the industry is.

And that sucks the big one

In case anyone missed it, the CW Network is broadcasting a 2-night special of the concert 9/30 and 10/1. Each night is 2 hours, which means they won't be showing all of it, presumably meaning the TV audience won't get all 8 songs Paul did. http://www.lasvegassun.com/vegasdeluxe/2013/sep/20/celebrity-preview-iheartradio-music-festival-mike-/

Hot damn I get that channel (ain't I cool, LOL) Thanks for the tips n' hints, Bruce

My twenty something daughters love the Beatles and especially McCartney. They generally like the post Beatle songs I play around the house but don't know if they would ever think to buy some of it since Dad always does - lol.
