The "Ram" Remaster Thread
-
I think it's time this has it's own thread. With an official announcement looming on the horizon we have this info on the Ram reissue. Due out May 22 with: Single Disc 2 Disc Special Edition 2 Disc Ram Vinyl Limited Edition Ram Mono Vinyl And RAM Deluxe 4CD/DVD CD1 Ram (remastered) CD2 Bonus tracks (remastered): 1. Another Day 2. Oh Woman, Oh Why 3. Little Woman Love 4. A Love For You (Jon Kelly remix) 5. Hey Diddle (Dixon Van Winkle mix) 6. Great Cock And Seagull Race (Dixon Van Winkle mix) 7. Rode All Night 8. Sunshine Sometime (earliest mix) CD3 Ram mono (remastered) CD4 Thrillington (remastered) DVD Ramming; Heart Of The Country; 3 Legs; Hey Diddle; Eat At Home On Tour; a selection of Now Hear This jingles Download - Hi Res audio (both limited and unlimited) I'm very happy about this. I think they could have done better but, I knew they wouldn't but I'm very pleased with this. Very happy that we get both Thrillington and the Mono Mix. Thoughts?

It looks good - it's a little shame that there aren't more outtakes or alternative versions, but it does looks as though it is going to be in a similar amount of detail to Band on the Run - though that was 3cd for the deluxe not 2. Let's hope that it introduces the album to a new audience ) If it sounds anything like the remastering on the other albums, I'll be really happy. They sound fantastic D

Gutted (but not surprised) that CD4 is the Thrillington album instead of the 1970 Scottish farm demos for Ram. If the book isn't up to scratch then I'm going to pass on the Deluxe edition this time. The dvd looks like its only going to last half an hour too.

Any word on "Venus and Mars" yet?

This all looks GREAT! Hopingthe price is right, I'll probably sweep up the Deluxe Book to keep the collection going...and both the vinyl pieces!

Ive been buying the special edition's and im pretty pleased with this looking foward to hearing the unreleased stuff in good quality sound especially Sunshine sometime & Rode All Night

So far I have been really pleased with the books for all 3 deluxe reissues (the book for McCartney was especially good) so I have high hopes for the Ram deluxe book. And given that it's my favorite Paul album I'm going deluxe all the way. And I'll probably buy a special edition for the car. Paul is clearly taking advantage of me. I haven't listened to Ram in at least 18 months so I could bring fresh ears to the remaster. Which is crazy, I know. But I have cheated a few times listening to a few tracks on YouTube. Very psyched for this. And it's about f--king time, as Stella would say.

I was hoping the DVD would have Another Day live from 1993, Too Many People from 2005 and then Ram On from two summers ago. Oh well. I, too, have been avoiding playing Ram to make it all seem fresh and new.

I like the idea of the Limited Edition Ram Mono Vinyl, I wonder if it will be numbered.
-
i'll buy the special edition

Is there really much of a difference between the stereo and mono versions? I'm a bit disappointed with this deluxe set too. I never really rated Thrillington in the first place. Surely there must be more worthwhile gems in the archives? If these rather expensive box sets don't offer anything extra special, it just seems like an elaborate way of re-selling old goods.

Aslong as its worth it I will get the deluxe felly. I love the Mono Sound and I love Thrillington. Would hope for more rare/unreleased material and more on the dvd but will wait and see. Hope the book is going to be good too.

Are some of the tracks actually noticeably different on the mono album or is it just a case of them being mono instead of being stereo?
-
I wish there was more on the DVD.

Well we always want more! It's funny, though, I have all 3 deluxe editions and I've yet to watch the DVD on any of them. Guess I should but it's just not a big priority for me. I bought the deluxe editions mainly for the books, which have been very well done. If you aren't interested in the book, I guess the special edition makes more sense (financially). But I've been able to get all 3 for a pretty good price so I'm hoping to do the same with this one.

The books are great but the DVds are lacking. They have to have more video than what has been floating around for years. You would think they'd have better technology & clean up the old footage.

i was kinda hoping it would have ram on in its entirety with out the fade out would be interesting to hear
