THE NEXT DELUXE/REMASTERED ALBUM FROM PAUL
-
I have a feeling that the next reissues will either be London Town and Back to the Egg or Flaming Pie.

You mean after Flowers in the Dirt? Because FITD was officially announced as Paul's next 'archive' release...you can see pictures of the set on Paul's home page as well as on Amazon (as a pre order) and other places. There's actually a pretty good discussion of the details of the release one page back in this very thread

Why would he release deluxe editions of live albums? Doesn't make sense to me.
Well, he released "Wings Over America" as a deluxe edition in 2013.
As an aside, good to see you posting - hadn't seen you in a while

Rich, I think FlowersOnThe Run meant the next reissue after FITD.

On one hand I am happy I didn't part with my late 80s Cd singles but I am still upset about the download-only tracks on the set. I am pretty sure that disc 2 & 3 of the deluxe set would fit on a single CD and they could put the download tracks on the 3rd cd. That way they would not spend the extra 15 cents on another pressed disc!
Indeed, you are probably right. If all 18 demos were four minutes long, that would total 72 minutes. CDs can now easily fit 80-81. It's a really shame the b-sides aren't going to be on a CD. Especially at that price, and how great some of the b-sides are. Sadly, this is the kind of thing that just encourages piracy and illegal downloads. This is one of my all-time favourite McCartney albums. The Deluxe edition was a no-brainer for me until I learned the b-sides are download only. Now, I'll have to wait & see. Every Deluxe Edition so far has appeared in a couple of the used shops in my neighbourhood. That may be my best option. If the b-sides were on a disc, well, that would have been a day one purchase.

I am sure someone at the record company is listening to all the complaints and petitions and is currently pressing a CD with the B sides and remixes to be sold as an Amazon or Best Buy Exclusive

Here are my thoughts: WOA was an iconic live album that hit #1. None of his other live albums have come close in the public imagination, and it'll be a while before we see them rereleased, if ever. The "Veronica" demo, as someone mentioned, does not feature Paul. It features Elvis Costello harmonizing with himself through the magic of overdubbing. And while it is sometimes lumped in with the unreleased Paul/Elvis demos, it has been officially released on vinyl and CD over the years. I don't really see the FITD set as having 18 bonus tracks, but more like 9 songs twice. Still, I understand the marketing angle. Fans of both Elvis and Paul have been clamoring for an official release of these tracks for decades, so why not give both artists' fans what they want and make that the centerpiece of the set? Then you get fans of both artists motivated to buy the deluxe set. Perhaps? Call me "demented" if you wish! IF the Archive reissues continue with Capitol as they have so far under Concord, I would expect the next one to be "Flaming Pie." I've said it before, and I'll say it again. They're favoring the ones that Paul is most proud of, and as much as we love "Back To The Egg," it's not high on Paul's list. I still think this new set will be worth buying, however, just for the record, much as I would love the downloads to be an additional disc. I do notice that the official announcement mentions that the songs on the physical discs will be available as "hi-res" downloads, but the "download-only" tracks are not mentioned as "hi-res" at all, for what it's worth.

We both must be demented!

Wings Over America was a no. 1 album in the U.S., and spawned a top 10 single with Maybe I'm Amazed (live version). The other two live albums were nowhere near as successful.
-
Yep, Wings Over America.... do live albums get much better.... note no use of a question mark... Not to mention the film. A wonderful moment of Paul's career captured in both forms. The "Star Wars" of rock concert films.

That's what I was originally thinking when I spoke about live albums, even though WOA being released as a deluxe had slipped my mind, I was thinking about Paul Is Live and Back In The U.S. or Tripping the Live Fantastic. Here's all his live stuff: [aul_McCartney_live_albums" >https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Categoryaul_McCartney_live_albums](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category<img src=)

If there was some 'full show' version of Paul is Live, I'd buy it...a lot of songs omitted...the excuse was that there were a lot of duplicates from 1989/90 and it was the same band...but there was a lot left off...both new (at the time songs) as well as early solo and Beatles songs that were not performed during the 1989/90 tour (Off the Ground, Fixing A Hole, Every Night, Another Day are just a few that weren't dupes from Tripping the Live Fantastic, but left off nonetheless)...I'm pretty sure Live and Let Die was the only duplicated song.
-
I really wish there was a demo of Paul and Elvis doing Veronica.... I bought that song at the time pretty much on the back of the fact it was co-written by Paul.... And I always loved it..... and listening to it again, and watching the video, and knowing more about what the song is about.... it is a brilliant and poignant pop song. And I know it's predominantly Elvis, but it's the best of their collaborations. For me. It sends my heart northward on every listening.

Live After Death by Iron Maiden or Status Quo' s 'Live' recorded at the famed Glasgow Apollo are amongst the very best live albums it there. On par if not better than WOA, I'd say.

Add me to the chorus. Would love to see those two get the full treatment. But I expect if there are more Archive Collection releases after FITD that the next release will be Flaming Pie. It seems the releases are moving chronologically.

Not really. Band on the Run was the first in the Archive Collection, and it was originally released in 1973. Then McCartney (1970), McCartney II (1980), Ram (1971), and so on.
