What Beatles releases are coming out ? Anything new or special editions like  a 50th anniversary edition of The Beatles (White Album) ?

I'll put it this way, so far we have two confirmed projects

John  Lennon's Imagine book and possible deluxe set

          Ringo Starr's new Genesis book

and then rumored but from good sources

          beatles WA 50th deluxe set

          Paul McCartney's new album

          Wild Life Archive

          Red Rose Speedway  Archive

so up to 6 rather huge projects by end of the year or beyond. We will have to wait for official announcements to know for sure

And let's not forget a new restoration of Yellow Submarine, which is going to be screened in cinemas before coming out on disc.

There's definitely a 50th anniversary White Album in the works, once again with Giles Martin in charge of the remaster. I assume there'll be a 5.1 mix as well, like the Pepper anniversary release.

Good to see Wild Life and Red Rose Speedway on that list - long overdue for the deluxe treatment.

I would expect the Archive releases next year at this point.

That Norwegian website shows a 12/07 release date. Very excited about the Archive release of Red Rose Speedway. One of my favorite McCartney albums for sure!

Its going to be interesting to see how the 'rarities' are going to be split between Wild Life & Red Rose Speedway as there's a lot of extra recordings / films associated with the latter but not much with the former !!

So, can someone explain the logic to me that ZERO songs from the brilliant Flowers in the Dirt album was on the  Pure McCartney compilation album, with the supposed explanation that FITD would be out soon as a deluxe/remastered album??

Why didn't Paul release the RRS double album? Wasn't that his original intention? Did the suits talk him out of it? It's too bad as there is high quality material over both albums. Man, Night Out is one of Paul''s best tunes. It's a shame.

I think it was Paul's US business manager, Vincent Romeo, who persuaded him to cut down the double 'band album' into a more of a single 'solo album'.  Part of their thinking  was that Wild Life had failed because people weren't associating Paul McCartney with the Wings name, instead of  realising  that it failed because it wasn't very good. Subsequently Red Rose Speedway was issued as a Paul McCartney and Wings project. Ironically, Red Rose Speedway wasn't very good either although it sold better.

                                            Years later Paul would comment:

"Red Rose Speedway was the live act. I mean, the albums okay. It has its moments but nothing approaching the impact of the band in person. After I had heard Wild Life, I thought, 'Hell, we have really blown it here.' And the next one after that, Red Rose Speedway, I couldn't stand."
