Fantastic show. But of course, we all knew it would be. I was sitting next to the "other" Paul. Next to him is a client of my old firm, Lorne Michaels.
-
that's what I figured, i actually saw Bloomberg. the brooklyn bourough president was there too. Stella was there; she tweeted a pic from backstage before the show. Supposedly Barbara Walters was there (Nancy's cousin as we all know) but didn't see her; someone I know thought she saw her; guess we should watch the View tomorrow to see if she mentions it. Tommy Hilfiger was there. Cameron Diaz was sitting at the end of one of my friend's rows.

Has Paul kind of stopped bringing people up on stage on this tour? I haven't really heard of many people being called up recently for tattoo signatures, etc.
there were plenty of SIGN ME (MY WIFE, MY DAUGHTER, FILL IN THE BLANK) kind of signs last night and he ignored all of them (including the one in front of me, he def. saw it as the gal was most persistent to the dismay of the people behind her who were getting quite angry). The one he did comment on, "sign my wife" he mentioned it and said something like, I can't sign your wife at this point of my career.
Yeah I was actually wondering if people had just stopped bringing those signs to shows but now I know that's not the case. Perhaps he just doesn't want the idea to become too predictable.

Anyone know how many rows are actually in the front section? With the riser in front of the stage, the front row is pretty far back.

Bloomberg walked pass me twice and my friend was laughing because he's so short. In fact, my friend wanted me to take a picture standing next to Paul Simon because he's a foot shorter than me. But I didn't go for that one. Paul Simon was very low key throughout the whole show but was very gracious to everyone that came up to him. Whether people wanted to shake hands or take a picture, he obliged. He didn't even stand until Hey Jude and was probably the only one not singing along. I told Lorne Michaels to get him to sing but he just laughed.

Just heard a live Rusty Anderson interview and he said they would only do Hope of Deliverance in South America and places like Germany because that's where the song was a big hit.

Anyone else feel like that venue has a complete lack of atmosphere? I don't know if it's different on the floor, but up in the bowl seats it was very "stale". Like I KNOW the crowd was loving it, but you couldn't hear or feel it at all, compared to venues like MSG. You know what I mean?

From the floor I couldn't disagree with you more...it was "electric". In addition, the staff at Barclay's were extremely outgoing and friendly. A great experience all around!

Who just walked in causing a stir down below???
It was Clinton. Which also is the reason there was heavy security on the floor. He was 10 rows back in the center.
Did you actually see Clinton? I was sitting in the first rows of the second section and I saw all the security coming in with the Mayor and that created quite a stir. The bourough president was there too. Didn't see Clinton.
It wasn't Clinton. It was Bloomberg.
Yeah, I was going to say that I zoomed in with my camera and saw Bloomberg there, and I couldn't identify who he was with that got people around them all excited, but I sure would have been able to identify Bill Clinton.

Awesome show last night. I also felt that the show was more toned down, not as much excitement as the other times I've seen Paul, but I loved it anyway. Hi Hi Hi was a lot of fun!

What a show last night at Barclay's!! First the soundcheck...Paul was wearing a jacket and tie. Songs played (15) were posted earlier. Great to hear Twenty Flight Rock after so many years...I believe '89 was the last time! He also did Bluebird which was also great to hear. As far as the show, Paul wore the "new" long dark coat which looked similar in style to the ones worn by Wings on their '79 UK Tour. I thought everyone of the "new" songs for the Out There Tour were amazing! I especially liked the opener Eight Days A Week, Lovely Rita, ...Mr. Kite, Your Mother Should Know, and Hi Hi Hi. Loved hearing We Can Work It Out with the full band treatment as well. But, the real highlight of the evening, in addition to seeing so many fans again, was Paul mentioning my son's English Bulldog, "MACCA"....see link:
A FANTASTIC SHOW...can't wait to see it again Monday!!That was great about your dog, he is now a celebrity in his own right!. Have fun at the next show. I hope to get out there soon.

I'm going tomorrow night. What is the situation with bringing in a camera. Not a big, professional camera with a 300mm lens LOL, but an amateur camera? Thanks.

The usual: no cameras with detachable lens. Your bags will be checked, and they use a scanner on you. Also had cops with dogs. Probably the most security I've seen at a Paul concert.

He hasn't signed anyone at the shows I've been to, nor has anyone gotten on stage. At one of the Orlando shows, two cute girls had a big, bright green sign that said they were "friends of Harold ( the grasshopper ) and also asked for tattoo sigs.. He saw the sign and commented on it, and told the Harold story, but th didn't call them up on stage.

Love Twenty Flight Rock. He has been sound checking it more often.
