P.S. How do I add photos directly here?

Green (spotify), blue and orange (mccartney.com), and red (B&N). Are there more?
I've got the Blue/Orange vinyl on on the way! May pick up the Target CD Friday also.

London Sunday Times feature on Paul and Egypt Station
The first single, I Don’t Know, features his best melody in years.
Given that I can't remember it that's a bit of a worry.
You just never warmed to the song, Kestrel; I remember its melody quite well, can hear it in my head right now. I don't go by reviewers, even The London Times; art appreciation is subjective. It's still fun to read the critics. Sometimes you think they got something very wrong, but it's interesting to discover different takes on the same song and other perspectives than your own, I find. One of my sisters claims that to her, "all Taylor Swift songs sound alike." Ouch. (I can differentiate at least some. That mewing, purring wispy voice of hers can render her fare "samey.") Anyway I doubt many would make that same damning charge about eclectic Macca's, with all his wonderful variety and lauded mastery of melody (smiley face).
Very good points, Susy!

I can't see anything with the link you posted. To post a pic here it should be at a photo hosting site or you can use postimage.org. What's a MTA card?

Maybe my Instagram will work:

MTA is a Metro card (Metropolitan Transit Authority - Nancy Shevell used to be on their board) in NYC. You need to log into Facebook to see what he’s talking about.

Is there a deluxe version CD of Egypt Station with bonus tracks ? Somebody posted they were ordering deluxe version.
-
It's funny a new song on Egypt Station is titled "Naked," makes me remember his cute impish throwaway line on an Electric Arguments song, "oh I feel naked" LOL

Heard a few of the new songs on Sirius radio today on both the Beatles channel & also on the Classic Vinyl channel. Classic vinyl is doing 3 songs from Paul every hour.

As a 50 year fan of McCartney (got the White Album for my 11th birthday), I'm just not getting the debate over "Fuh You" and "Come On To Me". IMO, these two songs just blast into my headphones and make me realize why I have loved his music for half a century. They are loud, fun, risque, and just plain rock. And as always, I go to my twenty something children. My daughter told me yesterday, "thanks Dad, I can't that "Fuh You" song out of my head". I really respect everyone's opinion on this site (even Bruce and Kestrel), but don't understand the negativity surrounding these two songs. I love them.
Wingsoverkc,
Very good post. It makes me feel good that you and other fans here (and especially your 20 something daughter) are liking "Fuh You". For me personally I can't wait to see how I feel about the whole album and how the songs jell together including "Fuh You". As I said in my reply to Susy above, it's not that I believe "Fuh You" in itself is a bad, terrible song. Having heard it a few times (even on Sirius Radio in the car) I just wonder how it will work against a backdrop of typical (and good) Beatlesque and Wings' style songs judging by the early reviews we've seen so far. Fuh You's production just speaks today's Top 40 music and looking at Bruce's post, it's not making any dent on the charts. "Come On To Me"while also "modern" sounding does have a Wings' feel to me and maybe not surprisingly is doing relatively well (for an older artist like Paul) on the Adult Alternative charts.
Will "Fuh You" stick out like a sore thumb on the album and sound totally out of place? Will I be skipping it because I like the other songs so much better? I Don't Know (pardon the pun) at this point. These are some of the questions I have. At a tad over 3 minutes, I might find that I like it as a "brief detour" like the reviewer from the Morton Report said. I might find it refreshing and fun. The fact that it is not too long (Something that Paul on some Solo songs is guilty of) is a good thing. I won't know until I get the album and listen for a few weeks. I'm so anxious to get this album and as a huge Paul fan, I will certainly be listening to the whole album (including every song) on the first few listens.
From the reviews I have read online, it appears the reviewers seem to like "Fuh You" - lol.

For those with SIRIUSXM, they're playing the entire album track by track interspersed with the descriptions Paul put on youtube.

Heard Despite Repeated Warnings on Sirius Beatles channel....
Trying to wait until Friday, not easy!
So far 4 for 4, I’m loving what I just heard...
-
Just heard "Despite Repeated Warnings" on Sirius today. Whoa. Very cool tune. Kind of a mash of 'Live and Let Die', 'Backseat of My Car', and 'Rockestra Theme'. Agree with Steve; definitely four for four so far. Come on Friday!!!

Anybody know enough about the 2 bonus songs on the Target cd to know if they are worth tracking down? The pre-orders for Target are sold out, and Amazon is just easier in the first place. Thanks!

Just read a review from CrypticRock and it is the most positive review I've seen so far. It was very detailed (for a relatively short music review) covering almost all the songs and in the last sentence it gave Egypt Station a:
5 out of 5
Maybe someone can put this review on Maccaboard. It was just put on the Internet yesterday and I found it quite easily.
I thought the last paragraph really sumarized their feeling about Paul's new album:
"It would be easy to sugarcoat and praise any new Paul McCartney music just because of who he is. That is why it is so difficult to look at any of his work objectively, but truthfully, Egypt Station is a superior piece of music. Not because this is a Beatle, not because this is a living Rock and Roll legend, but because it sincerely is well-composed, thoughtful and engaging from beginning to end. McCartney has no reason to just pump out music for the sake of such at this point in his life. That is why it is even more impressive that he has not lost touch with himself or the world around him. These songs are real, provocative at points but also blanketed in a positive sensibility about life, love and the moments in between. That is why CrypticRock gives Egypt Station 5 out of 5 stars."
They listed specific things they liked about each song. Not that familiar with CrypticRock. Anyone know that much about this music magazine. Are they pretty credible and respected? They did not have a specific person/critic listed for this review.

Try going to the store - call first to see if they have copies.
I pre-ordered mine from them ages ago. Bonus tracks are always worth it to me!

BJ, you really need to learn how to cut and paste URLs!

The guy needs a better researcher. Paul was knighted in 1997, not 2004! Jeez!

Thanks Nancy R. The check is in the mail!
Those kinds of mistakes don't bother me but I loved the review of Egypt Station. The last paragraph was especially great.
