Because Paul seems to perform in South America quite regularly, do you suppose that they would want the same show or an updated set?
I would love to hear some obscure songs, but I have not heard complaints about his setlists over here. People seem to be so amazed by his mere presence that they don't complain about anything, actually.
-
Edith_gdl:
Oh, and another reason is that Macca has here a lot of young fans. I was one of the older people that were in his hotel and I'm 21.
That's true. Every McCartney concert I've been to was packed with teenagers and people under 30 years old.
-
DennyC:
For others, they enjoy the whole concert experience. Paul performing live is the thrill.
Very true. I remember quite vividly all of Paul's concerts: the exciting new rumours which then came true, the thrill of buying the tickets, the hours I spent in lines making new friends, the joy of running across the stadiums to be as close as possible to the stage, the surprise of friends and family when they saw me on TV, the newspapers, t-shirts and other souvenirs I got in each city... the list just goes on and on.

Indeed. Ringo and Paul were sure surprised when they saw floods of teenagers and young people in front of them instead of the usual old farts that don't want him going to South America anymore

We feel exactly the same in the US, and go through ALL those emotions too. Well, minus the running across the stadium bit, shame he doesn't do more GA. Which is why this experience needs to be shared more.

So what, you just want Paul to become a stale oldies act so you can see him twice a year?

He did a fantastic GA show in Nova Scotia in Canada, also playing "Mull of Kintyre" there which got the many people in the crowd with Scottish heritage quite misty. 50,000+ running across a park trying to get a good spot, almost getting trampled, standing arm to arm with people crunching up against you, thinking if they push you a bit harder the laws of science will disappear and they'll be able to move through solid objects...and then Paul comes out 6 hours later, after the three opening acts and all is forgiven. I would definitely do another GA show, especially another outdoor one, as this one was.

Wanting to see a stale oldies act twice a year...Pretty much the definition of an old fart, isn't it?

Of course not. I already mentioned somewhere I'd love for him to perform full albums. Many artists do it and get away with it so why not Paul? Wouldn't you enjoy hearing RAM in its entirety beside the hits and the odd new song? Why can't I see him twice a year and have new songs on the setlist? How is one thing related to the other? How long does it take to rehearse a bunch of new songs?

You know there must be something wrong with the ratio of Wings to Beatles when Wings fans are neglected to a shout-out before 1985.

I want him to sing something from RAM... I am a relatively new fan and I really want to go to see him in a good seat. I didn't have enough money to see him in a good seat the last concert and as I said, he gave free tickets in the best seats to the people who went early to his concert (I didn't because I was in his hotel waiting for him) and it made me sad. So I just want him to come back one more time to see him but this time with enough money. That's all. One more time Sorry if it is egotistical.

The Hardrock Casino show in las vegas was general admission. Never again. Paid good money for VIP tix so I could get ahead of the pack only to have them push and "dance" thier way in front of you. I couldn't breath and was tempted to club somebody if I got elbowed one more time. lol, You could see how worried Paul was. Then to add insult to injury I had to read on here when I got home that I was too old if I didn't enjoy the general admission.

There's a difference between having new songs on the setlist, and having a new show in one year. The whole topic is realted because it is about PAUL'S SHOW... : It could take a while depending on the song! Do you realize what all goes into just one new song? The band has to know it as well as they know Hey Jude, Paul has to remember it, there has to be a whole new light track done, new images for the screen, and it has to be fit into the show.

Maybe part of the reason there are so many young people is that you have General Admission there and the older fans (like me!) would not be able to handle that chaos. Edited to add: Well, I see since I wrote this that you've been discussing "old farts" in a derogatory manner! You young whippersnappers need to respect your elders! Just because we're "old" (I'm 57) doesn't mean we want Paul to just be a Beatles tribute act! We want to hear more of his Wings and solo catalogue too!

What about the thousands seeing him live for the first time? Will they think the setlist is boring as well?
Now I know I can't speak for many of us but I've only seen Paul once, Stockholm last Decembet. Of course I was so happy and thrilled about seeing him that I didn't really bother about the setlist then. But I did think that both the setlist and the stage banter was too predictable, because it was pretty near the same as dvds and bootlegs I have. Also, the whole ratio when it comes to Beatles/solo/Wings songs is terrible. When 2/3 of the set consists of 8 years of an almost 50 year long carrer something's wrong imo.

I've always said that he could do maybe 6 songs from each decade. Someone care to whip up a setlist like that?
