Paul McCartney 2021 - Rumours
-
Is it too early to discuss plans for next year? Well, this is the first rumor about Paul in 2021...
"According to the journalist Armando Gallegos there is the possibility that the new stadium in the Tlalnepantla area is open to the public by 2021.
The McCartney concert agenda is very extensive, they requested it between March and April 2021, when they will open the doors of the Cruz Azul Social and Cultural Sports Club."

Yeah, probably a bit too early. I'm still wondering if he's going to announce any more shows later this summer or fall. Fingers crossed.

Same. I really need something to look forward to this year, otherwise it's going to be super boring.

Now that the 2020 Tour has officially been cancelled (we have all known unofficially since March) lets focus on 2021. When do you think the earliest new tour could begin in 2021? My guess is very earliest - May 2021. But where???
I would expect a lot of challenges for next year, with all concerts and sports having been cancelled or postponed for an entire year.
In North America the following logistic challenges exist...
Scheduling:
NHL/NBA Arenas are going to not know there schedules for nex year until late 2020.
All concerts that were postponed will want to reschedule (only so many dates available).
Any rumours, thoughts, or insight??

It would be unfair to do another tour on another continent next year....

He took one year to rescheduled the Japanese and Korean dates in 2014. In 2012, the shows in Denmark were postponed, but we never got new dates. And now that the shows are really cancelled, it wouldn't surprise me if he starts a new tour or a new leg of the "Freshen Up" adding some shows outisde Europe (maybe in the US).
I think he is not going on tour until we have a vaccine or some kind of treatment for the Covid-19. Praying for a cure as soon as possible.

Yes, I do remember about never rescheduling the "postponed" Denmark shows in 2012 but going on tour in the US that year in the fall/autumn. So it sure wouldn't surprise me if he went on tour in the US or South America next year....

I'm afraid that if the tour was cancelled, it's because Paul is not sure if he will want to tour next year and doesn't want to be bind to it.
Said that, I think the fair thing would be, if he tours, try to play in the palces where he was supposed to this years.
I'm very sad now, because I was going to take my daughter to see him and she may have lost her only chance to see a Beatle live recently after she had asked me if she would never bee able to see them. It was a big happiness when I managed to get some good tickets for taking her to see him and now we lost that chance. She's angry.
I understand the cancellation, but I would not understand, if he tours again, to tour to a totally different part of the world before the places where he was supposed to go.

If Paul does tour again next year, then hopefully he'll scale things down, keep things low key and just tour the UK. As he reaches his 79th birthday, it would be rather fitting to complete the circle by finishing off his live career in the way that it started, by just doing smaller intimate gigs 'locally'.

Good idea.

I always thought it would be cool if he did an acoustic tour kind of like Springsteen did years ago. Why not end live career with acoustic concerts in smaller venues in UK with concert being at most 60-75 minutes long. Of course, film it and then sell the DVD's of the concert to the rest of the world.

It will be difficult for any performer to tour in the near future even if there is a cure/vaccine. 30 million people have filed for unemployment just in the USA. It would be hard for him to tour charging $600-$700 for a pair of face value tix or $3,000 for a pair of soundcheck tix. 2022 at the earliest if he chooses to play live again IMHO.

Agreed.
Plus I really doubt he will feel like putting up big shows again moving ahead. He's turning 78 in a month and you can really feel he's been aging lately.
I have a feeling he will focus on different things and drop live performing (one off shows still possible/likely though) - which is totally understandable IMHO. -

I don't think any artists are going to tour in 2020.

I almost wrote the acoustic idea in another thread but erased it. I think that it may highlight his voice a little too much. I think he needs the entire band & electronic instruments. A lot of people criticized him for his recent Lady Madonna performance.

You may be right and I was one of those who criticized his voice for his recent performance. I think with time to prepare, concert being in a concert hall and not his house, the right selection of songs for his current voice and a much shorter concert he could pull it off. My point was that he will be 79 next year and this type of show may be easier on him than his tour shows. Ideally, an acoustic show would have been much better if he did it 10 years ago but oh well -lol.

Hold on, there is a big difference between "difficult for any performer to tour" and "hard for McCartney to charge 700 dollars for a ticket".
The latter is the result of the bloated industry and silly people willing to pay for that. The good thing is that will be normalised after this crisis.

Why is there no Europe on the poll ? Hope they come up with a medicine that can knock it out. Thinking optimistically. A vacine could take a while longer. Germany did really low numbers with all their early testing. Iceland, New Zealand, Germany and So. Korea should be doing well by this summer. They had lots of testing!

So you're saying that when Paul tours (eventually) he won't charge as high ticket prices? This I have to see!
