Paul McCartney 2015 Rumors
-
No chance whatsoever he plays that live. Happy to wear egg if I'm wrong. That's just PR Paul dropping the title so people will have to look it up to play it...or read about it. I know you Pauly! I know your sly PR tricks!
-
Yeah i cant ever see that being part of the main set list,a little bit 1970's with it's lyrics hehe, but Paul is Paul,oh come on who are we kidding that song wont be played live,Temporary Secretary played live,my oh my the PC brigade would eat him alive they really would. And going back to the tour name, who cares, really it doesn't matter nowadays does it?and given someone like Paul who's on a seemingly perpetual tour a name is frankly meaningless because we go and see him anyway.

...but I think it's a safe bet that a change of tour name wouldn't hurt ticket sales and would almost certainly help.
It's Paul McCartney in concert. Nobody cares what the tour is called.
They will only care if it's called "The Farewell Tour" LOL

Good point. He is always touring playing the same core set list. He just need to perform and announce the dates! No need to name the tour anymore. It doesn't really mean anything.

Paul also mentioned in Bass Player magazine that Silly Love Songs is one of the most enjoyable bass lines to play live. Yet he hasn't played it live since 1976.
It has been rehearsed (Wix told me that last month), so I'm betting it will be done live within the next couple of years.

During his latest interview, Paul seemed genuinely interested in doing Temporary Secretary live. He said that he had been discussing it recently, quoted some of the lyrics by memory and even mentioned it would be possible to recreate the sequencer parts. Have a listen to his remarks on the subject, from 1:15:27 to 1:17:06 in this link: http://www.nerdist.com/pepisode/nerdist-podcast-paul-mccartney/ Even if it's not included in the main setlist of his next tour, it can still be done at soundchecks, or perhaps just once at some special event.

Paul has mentioned that he would like to do Temporary Secretary live. That would be an awesome surprise.

Check out the interview: http://maccaboard.paulmccartney.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=89768
Yes! Nice! His best one in tiiiiiimes. Very offbeat and personal. Also, on topic, comment about the upcoming shows in Japan.

That is a more likely IF it happens. As another punter said...IF it happens it's certain to knock off a great Wings song...whereas Rigby, Let Me Roll It, LAWR, Here Today etc all keep their spot. Why the hell is he suddenly aware of Temporary Secretary anyway? I bet a young hip muso told him it was considered a "classic." LOL

I haven't listened to Temporary Secretary since 1980. It really is Paul trying to latch on to the New Wave music of the late 70s, and sounds so dated. And not natural. If he wants to do something from McCartney II, why not a bluesy, heavy rendition of On The Way?? Or Waterfalls?
-
I thought Paul was slightly ahead of new wave with that track... ...and he nailed it (although I was hoping the vocal in the chorus would be mixed down a bit in the 2011 remastered release).

Really? Ok, so it sounds like 1981. It has a Talking Heads quality to it. Which is the last thing casual fans at a McCartney concert want to hear. I think.

Casual fans or not, people do hear the song as part of the pre-show music before the concert starts.

I would not want to hear that song in concert. But if he plays it, cool. Whatever.

Not sure if the Yanks know him, but Temporary Secretary is a blatant rip off...ahem...channelling of Ian Dury.

Yeah...nah.

That would be one of THE most under-whelming solo additions to the setlist possible...yeesh... :
-
I'll take it.... certainly something different. Although one can only imagine the main "riffy" thing will certainly be pre-recorded, which detracts from the live experience. I thought the song was dated when it was current! But I've really grown to like this song.... But given the unparalleled times Paul has graced an Australian stadium in the last 20+ years, I'd take a live 20-minute extended version of Kreen-Akrore!

"On The Way" is a great idea, I think. It would be a chance for some stretching out on guitar, maybe in place of doing the "Foxy Lady" thing after "Let Me Roll It." I think the show would benefit from a bit of that earlier in the set, instead of having to wait all the way till "The End." I would personally love to hear "Temporary Secretary," but it seems like a long shot, since people are so polarized by the song. Maybe okay for soundcheck. If he's gonna do something electronic in the main set, why not "Appreciate"??
-
I can think of at least 300 Macca solo songs I'd rather hear live instead of TS.

I'm getting a bad feeling re: Temporary Secretary...and Japan...and that bloody robot.
