Yeah the places mentioned were Alabama, Tennessee, and Georgia. The woman who posted didn't appear very legit, though. She may have been kidding.
Alabama is the only one of those states that has yet to see the "Out There" tour...so if things were to go this route...perhaps we're getting a New tour this summer?
Thought so too. Alabama stuck out in my mind. I don't think he's played there recently, if ever. A new Tour would rock!

I was thinking: if the Firefly rumor does come true, it looks like a new pattern: one festival appearance per US summer tour, after Bonaroo in 2013 and Outside Lands in 2014. If that's the case, what other big US festivals are left for him to do in the future?

Hangout, Lollapalooza. However, Outside Lands was in 2013 also.

You're right, both were in 2013. I guess it's not a new pattern after all. Lollapalloza would be an interesting choice.

I don't really understand the appeal of the festivals considering the majority of Paul's fanbase seems to be individuals who are NOT the festival going type. So when they do go to see Paul, it becomes quite the eyeopening experience.

I think you kind of answered your own question. I think Paul plays these festivals so that he can bring in new fans who wouldn't necessarily go and see him at one of his stadium gigs.

Definitely true, but do you think the festivalgoers continue going to see Paul? The vibe I get from most people attending festivals, is that they go simply because it is that particular festival, not really based on who is there.

And why do it now? At 72?? This guy can get 30,000 to 50,000 people to see him in a stadium. His fan base is set. And huge. Nothing to sneeze at. Like U2 or the Stones.

I think it's more about Paul wanting other audiences to see him. And I agree, must of the festival goers probably check it off of their bucket list and won't go to see him again at another concert. On the announcement of shows... I had to submit my semester travel abroad application for school. I debated back and forth between picking spring over fall semester - on the off chance he does some shows in Nov/Dec in the UK.... All while kicking myself for not having found out about NY in time to take a bus there (I'm in Massachusetts)

Ouch. Even I (40 mins from NYC) couldn't reach Irving Plaza in time to get tickets. I showed up to Irving Plaza 20 mins. too late. It was announced on the web at the same time it went onsale at the venue.

It seems to be a bit of both. I do think some people will go because it is a particular festival, but I saw a lot of very detailed discussion on that InfoRoo board about the Firefly lineup and people's opinions of whether it was good this year, or people deciding on whether they should attend Bonnaroo or Firefly based on the lineups, etc. Quite a few posters mentioned that the lineup without Paul was disappointing and that they were looking forward to seeing him if he was going to play. Whether or not they go to see him again is another story. Could be finances - festivals are a way for people to see a LOT of bands in one place for one price. Maybe they don't go to arena shows or separate concerts anyway. As for Lolla - it is one of the few large festivals that he hasn't played yet, so I would not be surprised if he does play it someday. Now - about those "southern" tour dates---I would still like to find more "inforoo" about those!

The Firefly lineup was just released, but curiously, one of the headliners was blurred out. Perhaps it's Paul? http://s2.postimg.org/q0jgabahl/11008386_10206468452133391_2079938696782034469_n.jpg
Wow. Just announce it already.
Don't even announce it. Have it be a surprise the night of the show. Right before the final headliner then play, "And in the end....." *lights out* EPIC.

Now I don't know who you are, but that was damn funny

For the sake of our European friends, I hope he will do a few shows over there in early June, even if just as a warm-up for the US tour.

It'll probably be like 2013 with US Shows in late May/ early June...with a short number of European gigs at the end of June...and then back to the states for July and August.
-
Fuck that, he should spend the whole year in Argentina. He was away from us long enough.

Not saying I agree with it!....although I'll certainly take it!
-
While I do hope it's him, I would not go. I've been to see him at two General Admission shows. I prefer to have a seat. Even if I'm not in it the whole time.

I just checked the schedule the three european gig's 2013 were announced. It was 20th march. Should history really repeats again it could be around a month till we know what, or better if something, happens...
