What is going on, on the board lately? Let's attack the UK for not kissing Paul's butt, then let's attack the US for whatever idiocy was posted above. Are we devolving into the comments section on the Daily Mail or USA Today website? : Hopefully the moderators will speak to a few folks who need some help understanding how to communicate on an international board.
It's because the setlist discussions always end up in personal attacks, even gang attacks against an individual (as ab0ve) simply because they defend Paul, or criticize Paul, or take a different opinion than the tack of the thread. It's happened countless times over the eight years I've posted here. I've seen posts removed, warnings from Moderators, whole threads locked or deleted, all because people don't know how to have a rational discussion and let their emotions totally take over. It's ridiculous, but no matter how many setlist discussions get started here, it always happens. Always!
and now we can add name calling.

This is not the place for racist remarks! :
Woah woah woah, where do you read those?
Maybe you didn'y mean it that way, but that is how it came across. World English dictionary Racism 1. The belief that races have distinctive cultural characteristics determined by hereditary factors and that this endows some races with an intrinsic superiority over others
Overreacting much? I think you just may have been reading too much into it, love
When you group people by race, or country what would you call it love?
I'd call it human instinct. Certainly not the best one, but still...! Anyway, this really isn't worth a conversation

Ahem. Back on topic ... I was just reading a Beatles examiner story about how Paul really really carefully rehearsed this exact set list when he was with the band in LA. It's kinda endearing thinking about Paul being so cautious and nervous and wanting it to sound just right. Perhaps he just needs the set list to be in a certain precise order so that he can remember how it's all supposed to go. It's hard enough for performers at their peak in their 20s and 30s to put on such a huge show. It's easy to forget that Paul is doing all this at nearly 71 years old! My mother (bless her) can barely remember where she left her keys. In the spirit of positivity, then, rather than be snarky -- as is my natural inclination -- I would like to propose one other little change to the set list that I wish Paul would consider. I love Hey Jude. I want to hear it in July. But I wish he would drop the boy-girl singalong and just do the song and let us all join in.

Funny you should mention that. I was thinking about this idea for "Hey Jude" yesterday: This may be cheeky, but I think Paul should expand the sing-a-long. Seriously. "Now it's the veggies' turn!" "OK -- now only the sexy people." (a concert can't-fail tactic ) "OK -- the Wings fans." "And now THE BEATLE fans!" Change it up a bit.

Nothing to do with his age, it's just how Paul is. He's always been a perfectionist when it comes to concerts. Years ago he never even had an A night/B night set list; if you saw two shows in a row, you saw the exact same set both night.
I love Hey Jude. I want to hear it in July. But I wish he would drop the boy-girl singalong and just do the song and let us all join in.
I seem to recall that back in 89/90, he used to do the singalong by sections "people on the left side, people on the right side, now the people in the middle." So I think he just likes to direct us.

I've seen a few people saying that they think Paul will take out Hope of Deliverance in the states, you guys think there is any chance he replaces it with A Day in the Life?
If he's going to replace it - just because the US audience needs to be spoon-fed and can't handle a good song which coincidently wasn't a huge hit in the US : - it will be swapped with one (semi-)acoustic song: 'Things We Said Today', 'I'm Looking Through You' or 'Two Of Us' again. Or something else.
You know, the funny thing is the last time he played for the Dutch, Hope of Deliverance wasn't on the setlist http://www.paulmccartney.com/live/gigs/10760-arnhem OOPS, make that the last two times, no Hope of Deliverance http://www.paulmccartney.com/live/gigs/10689-ahoy I would appreciate it if you'd keep your snide remarks about the U.S. to yourself.
LOL what is this. Are you missing my point or what? Read again, I meant my post in a 'like the US audience needs to be spoonfed'-way. "OOPS" indeed, my friend.
Your post doesn't read like that, actually. Look at your wording. You may have meant your post to read the way you stated above, but it really is not clear at all. OOPS indeed.
Lol, then use common sense. Why would anyone think I would have to nerve to attack a whole group of people out of the blue...
Have you not been on the board long, then?
Fair enough, I guess sarcasm doesn't always translate that well to US audie... errr on the internet ;). I should have know better. Now, talking about Lennon-songs McCartney could sing...
Sarcasm is a wonderful thing, but perhaps you could use a little common sense and not use it in posts? And again, feel free to stop taking swipes at countries that aren't your own.

Would love to see how many guys would join in on the "only sexy people" - lol

He could do a special version for the forum: "And now the folks that think I play South America too much!" "How about the folks who hate that I tour the US so much!" "Everyone still bitter about the Premium Membership fiasco!" "Now the folks who are in debt because of me!" "Everyone who thinks my voice is going!" "And now the folks who think I should stop dying my hair!" "How about the banned members?"

If this is the case maybe Paul will keep the same set right through to August?!

Well that would be fine with me. I'm seeing the show in July and 19 of the songs will be ones I didn't hear the first time I saw Paul in concert in 2009. Unfortunately I don't have the money to follow Paul around on tour. He has to come to my town and he finally is again. I don't think he'll do any more new songs in Brazil. There's no point. He's gotten a lot of press from the Brazil shows. I think he should save the next few surprises to generate some headlines when the tour arrives in Florida.

My biggest worry is that the US "surprises" will be changing out some of the new songs (and probably dropping HOD) for songs that aren't quite as new...
-
I'm seeing him in Brooklyn, having just seen the St. Louis show last fall, and I don't think there is a chance he plays Hope of Deliverance. Frankly, Off the Ground is one of my least favorite McCartney solo albums, and less then 10% of the audience would have a clue what he was playing. Generally, when he plays more obscure material (relative to his songbook) like Calico Skies, Only Mama Knows, etc., he plays it within the first third of a show. (C-Moon 2001 excluded). HOD seems like one of those regional songs like Michelle and Mull of Kyntire, and its placement in the setlist indicates to me to expect an acoustic Beatles song in its place in the US.
-
would be a thrill if he sang "Help!" it occurs to me, I thought maybe they shouldn't have done that silly movie "Help!" but the songtrack redeems it "Help!" sounds like sort of a cool rockabilly-influenced number to me, kind of folk rock too, and kind of another genuis song Was surprised that Paul did "Hi, Hi, Hi" in concert in Brazil and hope that continues. Isn't it a bit of a vocal chord shredder, though, maybe he's found a way to render it less so, less hard on the voice, so he can thrill with that one again and again I imagine he tears up "Lovely Rita" in concert, too, in fact I'm fixing to put on headphones right now

For me it'll be 10 new songs, would be great to hear 'Hope of Del' but if not then a worthy replacement! glad he's bought back 'We can work it out' into the show
-
I'm looking at 11 new songs and I'm very happy about that!!! I don't even know what I'm most excited for...he definitely picked all the right songs for me!!!

No, no, no, no, NO! He does not need more Beatles songs weighing down the set. He needs to delve into his more recent work and stop harping on about the Beatles! Besides, the solo stuff is as good if not better than the Beatles. Less Help, more Hope (of Deliverance!)
