Would be nice to hear new stories for the new songs he's added !
yeah...like why "kite"?
I can't remember which show it was, sorry (my "memory almost full" ;)) but I did hear him tell the "Mr. Kite" story once after playing the song - he said that John had the poster and all the words were on there, and the song basically wrote itself.

I know that story but why now? Out of all the songs he could choose, why Kite? To me...that song needs John. IMO

I read somewhere on this forum that when he does the "Something" number it's ukelele only. Is that true or does the band join in halfway as they did on the last tour? Also, does he do Foxy Lady after "Let Me Roll It"?
As far as I know, nothing has changed with the arrangements of any of the old songs.
he does this little guitar feedback-y thing at the end of Paperback Writer now, walks over to the amp at the bottom of Abe's drum riser, bends down, and plays a little bit. That's a slight change.
My recording of 'Paperback Writer', Cologne, 2011...

here's also my video of Paperback Writer from Memphis with Paul going back to the speakers for feedback at the end of the song.

Paul McCartney is a living legend. Anyone who has seen him even ONCE is very lucky, IMO.
Of course, once is one to tell the granchildren. I felt I would see him back in 2002 only. I thought I wouldn't see him agian in my entire life, but I ended up in a couple of shows, so that's really something.
KingMacca:
And those who have seen him once usually end up seeing him more than once!
If you got the money, yeah, but also, if Macca happens to come to your town. Lots of people can't afford, and can't travel because of their jobs, to other cities Paul presents.

I agree.

Am I the only one wishing "Chaos" could have some love shown?? There are some great songs on that album. I don't know, maybe they wouldn't translate so much live, but it is one of my favorite solo releases.

Chaos is a great record. Better than MAF, and Off The Ground. Some it has to do with Nigel's production.

I remember reading that Paul doesn't do Chaos tracks anymore because of the personal memories attached to those songs for him...a shame considering they are so good! I'd welcome just about any of those tracks into the show but, too many of them would definitely slow things down. Not just the lack of hits, but they are generally slower melancholic songs anyway.

Not sure I buy that reason, he played Fine Line back in 08 when the personal stuff would have been much fresher.

He explained the first night in Tulsa. Quite a few new stories. All new lights and production. Incredible.

Paul doesn't play tracks off of CHAOS for the same reason he doesn't from MAF, or DRIVING RAIN. They just are not classic recordings with staying power like BAND ON THE RUN. It is not Paul's fault, but the fickle, instant gratification, here today gone tomorrow, flavor of the minute culture we live in. The Stones don't play tracks off of BRIDGES TO BABYLON or anything they recorded in the last 15 years. Check out their set lists for their current tour, all classic all old. Paul TRIED to do HOPE OF DELIVERANCE from 20 years ago, it lasted one show on the current US tour.

Didn't The Stones do "You Got Me Rockin' " at the 12.12.12 thing?

Maybe, from 1994. Paul HAS played HOPE OF DELIVERANCE recently. At this point, seems he has no interest in anything recorded after 1976. Except for VALENTINE, which is hardly a classic in the making.

I hate to admit it, but you may very well be correct.

I don't believe for one second that McCartney drops songs because they aren't classics with staying power, I think that's a complete and total fabrication and not true at all! McCartney drops songs simply because he doesn't want to perform them anymore, it's just that simple, he may decide to perform a song again but it's totally up to his descretion. If he thought a song wasn't classic and didn't have staying power, he probably wouldn't perform it in the first place. McCartney just wants to do something different that's all. Sometimes I think people try and pass off their personal feelings about some songs onto McCartney.

I think that is a totally astute and valid observation. Especially when they think they know the reason he adds or drops a song.

Well then, I guess no one should have any opinions about Paul McCartney since no one REALLY knows what he is thinking. :
