Yes, if you are hearing it for the 1rst or even 2nd time, the stories are pretty cool. Paul is not that naive to think everybody at the show has not heard these stories before especially in the youtube world we live in today. Is it that hard for Paul to put a different "spin" on a story he tells about a song?
I have come to grips with him playing most of the same Beatle songs because I get it that these are a big thrill for the majority of the audience. I just get tired of him playing 2nd tier type Beatle songs like "Benefit Of Mr. Kite" or "In Spite Of All Danger" for multiple tours instead of a Beatle song he has never played live.
Totally agree! With all the time off he's had since the 2019 tour ended, you'd think he could have re-learned "I Want To Hold Your Hand" as the opener and dropped the 2 you mentioned for any other John song and maybe blow everyone's minds by doing Rocky Raccoon!
Exactly Nancy. "Rocky Raccoon" is acoustic song that he would not need the band to practice it and it is easy song to sing. The crowd reaction would blow the roof off the arena -lol. "I Want To Hold Your Hand" is midtempo song that is a little over 2 minutes so not that tough to learn again. The entire band could sing the song with Paul to help with vocals because John and Paul sang the entire song together. See link below from Ed Sullivan show. Imagine the reaction in the arena if he opened with it and the media attention it would have grabbed - oh well.
Why don't the Admins of this forum/website ever read what we constantly write and get the message back to Paul?!
Because anything said to Paul about any of this would fall on deaf ears!
Sad, but true!

I agree about Rocky Raccoon!! That would be an absolute blast!!

That would be fabulous, but I don't see it happening now. The window for that was about 10-15 years ago.

I kind of laugh at people who think those who want to hear a few more solo songs in his set list are moaning/bitching. First, we are actually complimenting Paul and saying he is more of an artist than being a Beatle which ended over 50 years ago. How dare we (lol) want to hear music from the CD's we bought of his solo career music. The outrage of us (ha ha) wanting him to do a couple of great Beatle songs he never did before (Rocky Raccoon, I Want To Hold Your Hand) instead of songs like "In Spite Of All Danger" and "Benefit For Mr. Kite" on a couple of tours. Finally, the 6 or 7 of us (lol) know he is not going to change. We are just expressing frustration that he ignores so much great music he has made in live performances.
I agree and sympathise with your frustration but the bottom line is that Paul's not going to go out of his way to make work for himself just to please a tiny minority of fans, however well founded their views are. Personally I would love to have heard Waterfalls or One Of These Days played live but its not going to happen. Some time back I suggested that his entire setlist should only be made up of songs recorded since 2000 but that's not going to happen either. The current setlist is what it is. Btw, I can well do without the thought of an 80 year old bloke singing 'I Want To Hold Your Hand' to me !! I've only just had my evening meal and I wasn't intending on seeing it again !!!

Ok, so you are good with with 80 year old bloke repeating about 20 times in a row (lol), "If you come on to me
Then I'll come on to you". How about 80 year old bloke singing what sounds like "I just want to F*** you". Once again, I understand his setlist "is what it is". I am just expressing how IMO his setlist could please first timers and people who love his solo songs. -

Actually, I think that window ended 20 years ago. Paul had not toured since 1993 and had brand new (with exception of Wicks) touring band and there were no expectations about his set list. Instead of Paul playing a lot of DR songs and songs off albums since he last toured in 1993, he turned to do more Beatle hits. Once that happened, Paul would only do more Beatle songs not less. He showed he had no desire to do any type of concert with "deep cuts".
Personally, I loved the small shows Paul did to support his RDR album with a great band. Imagine if he did the entire RDR album for the first set and then did a 2nd set filled with mix of Beatle/Wings hits and some solo songs. That would have been some tour. Unfortunately, it was way too soon after Linda died for him to do anything big.

If I had tickets or attended any of these concerts, I would be cheering and enjoying the show as I have in the many past concerts. I want to say that because I am glad to see and hear Paul any time at all.
I am in this thread for the fun of it, but would get a kick out of of 3 new songs added and a few songs rotated out just for freshness. I know that at this time, Paul isn't going to make those changes. Outstandingly he still does a long show, so people would not have the "favorites and classics" removed - just a few rotated in and out for each leg. Opposite to all that I wrote a long time ago that if Paul got up on stage and let out an ooh or arrrr and oop ooop oooodle oooopp - I would be thrilled.
to stay within the subject of the thread - I thought as a guess he would have had 3 new songs as in McCartney iii... oh well it is what it is ... glad he is playing and hopefully enjoying himself and the love of it all. -
Somewhere back up on this thread someone felt Paul was making an excuse and wasn't being totally honest with saying he had nightmares about people walking out of a concert when he wasn't playing Beatles. Maybe so but I think he is suffering not only from lockdown but from the one-two Beatles punch of late last yesterday. October was the Let It Be deluxe followed by Disney+ Get Back. I think the later has had a larger impact than the 50th of Pepper, White Album, Abbey Road and Let It Be combined. So much coverage from CBS Sixty Minutes, BBC, etc and it is of such high quality that 1969 seems like last week. I saw Let It Be when it came out in 1970 and it can't begin to touch Get Back on every level.
As he said elsewhere, Sir Paul was elated at this extensive in-depth trip to the past, especially as it shows him happy, incredibly productive, with his friends. Thus the big embrace of his Beatles past, despite The Lyrics Back in November being full of great songs from his solo years that he has never touched live-Single Pigeon, Warm and Beautiful, the list goes on. I have the DVD on right now as he gives birth to Get Back as George and Ringo.
Final point....This is the Got Back tour on the heels of Beatles Get Back. Just wish he would drop that insufferable Fuh You. Put in Who Cares!!!!

Hey Kestrel...We'll have to agree to disagree. I do agree that "Fuh You" should not have even made it on Egypt Station. Horrible lyrics and why is Paul "still" playing it on this "Got Back" tour. Aside from "Fuh You", Egypt Staton is a very good album (my opinion only). "I Don't Know" and "Dominoes" are 2 of Paul's very best Solo songs (in Paul's Top 10 imo). For the life of me, I don't know why Paul continues to play "Fuh You" and "Come On To Me" on this "Got Back" tour. Why isn't he and the Band mixing up his Setlist just a little for this current tour and playing "I Don't Know", "Dominoes" and "Happy With You". Why casual Beatle fans don't really know these 3 songs is, in many ways, Paul's own fault. Why?...because Paul has never played them "live". Let me add many other great Solo songs he's never played in all the concerts he's done. This is why Paul's Solo career is so underrated and diminished by many music critics.
One last thing, why Paul isn't opening the "Got Back Tour" with "Find My Way" still baffles me. I now can only imagine Paul and Band (including his Horn players) opening this tour with "Find My Way" still blows my mind. The 2nd song after "Find My Way" should be "Seize the Day". Another great Solo song and Paul isn't playing either one of them. As someone elso said, if we could only get 15 minutes with him alone. He still may not play these relatively "new" songs on this tour, but at least he would hear our opinion from a devoted, biig time fan. So many great Solo Songs that the large percentage of Beatle fans should know.

I agree with Paul doing "Find My Way" as a opener, catchy uptempo song that even if you don't know it (and 95% of the audience would be clueless) I still think it would go over well. While I like "Seize The Day" following it, this is Paul we are talking about and his"nightmares" people would walk out - OMG. Follow "Find My Way" with "Got To Get You Into My Life" to get the first timers excited and another song that utilizes the horn section. Play "Seize the Day" in the spot where he plays "Come On To Me" and he fits in new song but does not take away a song the first timers would love. Really, this stuff is not that hard to do if he would give it a try.

Pun intended (lol) "That Was Me" (great song that he should have played more than once live). Once again nobody is saying anymore that setlist should not be Beatle heavy. Just do a better job of mixing in some new solo songs to relpace older solo ones. Also, replace 2nd tier Beatle songs (In Spite Of All Danger & Benefit For Mr. Kite) with Beatle songs he never done before live. I made suggestions but not picky, there are still good ones to choose from and he could still sing them.

Hey Yankeefan...agree 100%. Can you imagine those horn players along with Paul and Band playing "Find My Way" opening the show. Even if some in the audience aren't that familiar with it....it is very catchy and they would like it.
I can also imagine Rusty and Brian playing their guitars to "Seize the Day". Again another catchy song and a great substitiute for "Come On To Me".
Finally, can you imagine Paul and Band playing "Slidin" instead of "Helter Skelter" during the Encore Section. Again, I think that "Slidin" is as good as "Helter Skelter" and imagine Rusty, Brian and/or Paul playing on the guitar parts.
Anyway, just dreaming of course. I'm glad I'm not in the Orlando FL area this weekend. On top of Disney, Seaworld and everything else, Paul is playing in a Stadium show on Saturday night in Orlando. Does anyone know the capacity for the Stadium show there.

Thanks Nancy. Looks like a very nice stadium!
We're in Atlantic City NJ right now but that is one show on this "Got Back" tour I would have considered attending. Not sure I would have paid that much based on thes prices but I would be tempted. The Setlist however would still bother me even if I could attend.

I agree. All that about him so being captivated in the aftermath of Get Back that I wrote was by way of trying to explain his probable mindset, not justifying it. I got to ask, whatever happened to the old-fashioned idea of promoting the new album during a tour that draws people who want to hear their old faves. Somewhere on here someone said the tour booklet had ads, info on McCartney III. He advertised and played songs off newer albums on past tours, especially 1989 tour with the fresh Flowers in the Dirt, first time I saw him.
Bottom line, Paulreally believes in "Carry That Weight"where the Beatles is concerned. Sad that many will have no clue of things like "Find My Way"

My in-laws will be at that show, they live in Tampa. My sister in-law is big Beatle Paul fan and could care less about his solo albums even though I tried hard to "turn her on" to his solo music. I will get report from my brother in-law who is excellent photographer and I know will also post some you tube clips. I will send you email with some of his clips from the show.

Thanks Yankeefan. I've driven by "Camping World Stadium". For my wife and me, it is probably only a little over an hour away from our house in Florida.
As I said, if we were at home and not in NJ preparing our Condo for the Renters, I would have been tempted. But I'm sure the prices for 2 tickets would have been very high plus after following the setlists for all the shows on Got Back so far, I would have been furious not to hear live (and with the full Band) such great songs like "Find My Way", "Seize the Day", "Slidin", "I Don't Know" etc. It's not that some of the older Beatle and Solo songs on this Setlist are bad, but I wouldn't have been psyched to hear "Can't Buy Me Love", "Lady Madonna", " We Can Work it Out", "Let Me Roll It", "Let 'm In", "Helter Skelter" etc, again when I could have heard great "new" Solo songs that have never been done "live" in Concert before. What is Paul thinking? .
And don't get me started on some of the recent Solo Paul setlist choices that he continues to play like "Fuh You", and "Come On to Me" when he has far better songs from the same Egypt Station Album. One saving grace...I can always play them on my own CD's and it saved me plenty of money by not attending. Don't get me wrong,.. I would have loved to have heard them in concert but as others have said here...It's not going to happen in 2022. So sad and a real "missed opportunity" for Paul's Legacy. How does he not play "I Don't Know" or "Dominoes" two of his best songs ever...Beatles or Post Beatles". Sorry I'm frustrated and I'm repeating myself. Thanks Guys and Ladies for listening.
