P.S. And you're correct, nobody getting called up during soundchecks or regular concerts.

What are some of the best signs you've seen at a Paul show over the years? I'm thinking of making one, but need inspiration!

Also, I probably already know the answer to this, but he hasn't been bringing anyone on stage this tour, right? With COVID still a thing  and everything, I imagine not, but thought I'd ask, haha.

The people around you will be much happier if you just go enjoy the show and not encroach on their  enjoyment by holding up a sign

My husband and I are celebrating our 6th anniversary tonight and it just so happens to be the same night as Paul (May 21st)!!

Thinking about making a sign to let him know we are celebrating our anniversary with him tonight. But can't figure out how to condense the words to fit on a poster.

            any ideas?

and yes, I know...signs suck for the people behind them but I'm not one of those to hold it up constantly. Prob just a couple times at the beginning. And I'd hold it in front of me and not up high.

Best idea: go enjoy the show and leave the sign at home so that others around you may enjoy the performance as well. You probably wouldn't like your anniversary concert spoiled by someone holding a sign in front of you. Extend the same courtesy to those behind you

@RADIANCE the anniversary signs I've seen have usually said something like "Spending Our [6th] Anniversary With You."

There will of course be many fans up front who have signs and Paul still devotes a portion of the show to reading them, which is the time most hold them up.

Best of luck and Happy Anniversary!

Most people with signs know proper sign courtesy and hold the sign up for a few seconds.
                      Paul enjoys reading the signs.

And if the sign isn't there he won't be sad but the people around you would probably appreciate those few seconds.  No one paid to look at the back of a sign,....even for a few seconds

I took the same sign to his shows for several years. It said:

"I'm a teacher. Will you sign me for show and tell?"

One time he read it out loud along with 2 others. During the encore, Brian Riddle didn't come get me. The people with the other 2 signs were brought on stage.

I decided to go to another show 10 days later. He read the sign again. This time, Brian came up to me during "Yesterday" and said, " Come on teacher. Bring your sign and come with me."

He signed my arm and I got it tattooed the next day.

                              The rest... is history.

He's not doing any signing or even bringing people onstage. Understandable since covid.

I think he enjoys reading signs at his concerts, but because of Covid, he doesn't want to encourage people to ask to come onstage.  If Covid wasn't an issue, he'd probably continue reading them at shows.

Paul read the sign I held up at the show in Wichita, Kansas, in 2017...  (see the quote at bottom of my posts to see what was on the sign)... was one of the best 30 seconds of my life

A lady I met in Wichita was going to hold up a sign that read "You're hotter than the bottom of my laptop"    but her husband thought that probably wouldn't be a good idea...

As far as "bothering people" behind you by holding up a sign... when he reads the signs, it's just for a minute or two, and he's not singing, so no music is interrupted....  If someone is holding up a sign through most or all of a concert, I agree that is not considerate... but just for a minute when he is reading signs should be ok.  Him reading signs is part of the Macca concert fan culture, like limo watches (watching him arrive at the venue), soundchecks, buying T-shirts and saving confetti from the end of the show!

Wichita, July 19, 2017 - sign read by Paul

Paul is still reading signs out loud this tour, just not bringing people up on stage of course because of Covid. He read signs at both Oakland shows a few weeks ago.

I was really hoping that this would be my opportunity to finally try and meet Paul through a sign at Soundcheck as I truly owe everything to him, but the VIP email I just received made it very clear that will not be happening, and understandably so given the status of things as this pandemic concludes.

SO...I'm trying to think of another way to interact...and was wondering if a sign at soundcheck is even visible from halfway back in a stadium? The song I'd love to hear most is "Every Night" and I know it often gets in the rotation at soundcheck. Think there's any chance of it happening if I had a sign to request it?

SO...I'm trying to think of another way to interact...and was wondering if a sign at soundcheck is even visible from halfway back in a stadium? The song I'd love to hear most is "Every Night" and I know it often gets in the rotation at soundcheck. Think there's any chance of it happening if I had a sign to request it?

Who knows but I would doubt it. I had an alligator sign with a pic of an alligator & everything but it wasn't in his plans apparently. This was in 2017 soundcheck.

Thinking maybe I'll do two sides of the sign, and use the other for during the concert since we'll be in 7th row and he usually takes a moment to mention the signs. I could write a short but sincere message about how much all of my elementary music students love him, passing on the music etc. I wouldn't keep hoisting it in the air though. I hate when people relentlessly flash them around all night...
