IMO Denny could not talk to Paul like John did, totally different relationship. Look how Paul reacted to Nigel Godrich during the making of CHAOS when he told Paul something was not very good - lol. The 1979 Wings tour finished their run in the UK and then the Japan bust happened and plans of world tour ended. I believe McCartney then started doing songs for "McCartney II" and had no interest in touring with Wings. The other band members got tired of waiting for him and then left to do other things. Notice when Paul was interested in touring again in the late 80's, he had no interest in recruiting any former members of Wings for his touring band.

Oh, yeah, that was quite obvious! But that’s Paul - he just does whatever pleases him because he can! 😂

He shoulda toured with Wings again. McCartney 2 was terrible. Most of it was typical 80s mechanical synth plink plonk nonsense. Temporary Secretary was unlistenable tosh. He had gone from leading the music scene in the 60s, to following, and jumping on the synthesiser bandwagon in the 80s. The 80s were a terrible time for music. Ashamed to say most of it British lead. Depeche Mode. Human League. Yazoo. And others best forgotten. The age of the electronic cold soulless keyboard. The lazy man's way of writing and playing music. Just programme a computer. Dreadful.

I had to throw away my golf shoes. Why? Because I had a hole in one.

Temporary Secretary is annoying but catchy. Check my Machine is just annoying. I can listen to a few songs from Maccartney 2, but never the whole album.

Lol! About 35 yrs ago I recorded an album for a workmate. I don't even remember what the album was called. At the end of the cassette, I recorded the album to, there was enough tape left over to use for one more song, so I decided to put, "Bogey Music", on there. Took the cassette in to work and gave it to my workmate. 3 days later he thanked me for the recording. Then he said what the fuck was that extra song you put on the end? It's shit!! Oh dear! If you can, watch the Tim Rice interview tween him and Paul McCartney. In that interview Paul actually says the McCartney 2 album was only meant for his own personal use. He never meant it to be released. He was persuaded to release it by a record company executive. Bad move Paul. BUT I have to give credit where credit is due. Coming Up is fabulous 👌

I had to throw away my golf shoes. Why? Because I had a hole in one.

Just doing a quick Google search, the 2 remaining albums not on the link that NJR sent... Egypt Station and McCartney3, here are the Sales numbers:

Egypt Station 153,000 copies sold (September 2018)
              McCartney 3 (December 2020)

To be very generous. even if you doubled these figures since some time has elapsed...the sales of both of those very recent albums don't begin to compare to what Paul sold in his heyday. The simple fact is that consumers just aren't buying albums/CD like they did in the 70's and 80's especially to aging artists.

This is probably why Paul wouldn't release a CD of unreleased songs or previous B-Sides in 2023.

On my previous post I gave the results on sales units sold on Egypt Station around September 2018 but I forgot to give the Sales Copies sold for McCartney 3. McCartney 3 sold even less at 107,000 copies around December 2020. The end result shows how light CD/Album sales have become compared to Paul's Heyday in the 70's. As I said, the total record industry has changed so much. Because of these changes, consumers aren't buying far less physical copies of CD's and Albums.

As I mentioned on one of my recent posts...a few of my favorite Solo Macca songs and performances ever were:
                  Wanderlust
                  Arrow Through Me
                  No Other Baby

                  A few others would be:
I Don't Know ( See the Soundcheck performance in Glasgow) on YouTube. Always thought this was one of Paul's best Solo songs ever. Just never understood why it was never on the actual Setlist on his last tour in favor of a crap song like Fuh You from the same album.

I Want to Come Home - from the Everybody's Fine Soundtrack. Just love this song

Vanilla Sky- I saw Paul perform this song live a of couple of times In Concert in Philadelphia. In hearing the Soundtrack version, I couldn't believe how much better the song sounded. This was one of these cases where the excellent and not overprodproduction"was so much better than Paul's Live version

Sing the Changes- This was just the opposite than Vanilla Sky. Here the Live version on the Good Evening New York City Album sounded even better than the studio Electric Arguments Studio version.

Bluebird - Live version on Rockshow and Wings Over America. This song on Band on the Run never quite gets the love it deserves and this "live" version is even better.

Why So Blue - Great extra track on the Deluxe Edition of Memory Almost Full.

Dominoes- Again one of Paul's Best Solo Songs ever
Should be better known and never on a Paul McCartney Setlist .

As an ardent McCartney fan, I have to say, I didn't buy Egypt Station, or McCartney 3, or Pure McCartney, or Kisses On The Bottom. I think he needs to stop "experimenting" ( McCartney 3) and get back to writing those traditional McCartney rockers and ballads. You must never break a winning formula. I think also, he's trying to attract a younger audience. Don't know why. But we must also address the "elephant in the room". Namely his voice. The great man's voice has gone!! And even though I have been a fan since 1963, I cannot spend £16 on a cd, by a singer that can't sing anymore. I cannot buy a cd, just because it's by Paul McCartney. No sir. Obviously, what everybody else does, with their own money, is their business. If any other 80yr old was making cds, and singing like Paul, then we wouldn't even be having this conversation.

I had to throw away my golf shoes. Why? Because I had a hole in one.

Egypt Station is a great album, without having an all-standing track... although, Dominoes was pretty brilliant... McCartney 3 is a 6 out of 10 album, on a good day.... Kisses On the Bottom is the stuff that John surely would've ridiculed.... at the time... maybe, not since. Haven't bought it... No interest... The voice is shot, correct... but I have this naive perception where Paul, even at 80, can just conjure about a couple more rockers.... that tear his voice into the territory of Oh! Darling, Oh Woman Oh Why and Why Don't We do It in the Road....it'll hurt... but I think he can do it... I'd love it!

Arrow Through Me... Along with Goodnight Tonight, Daytime Nighttime Suffering, Baby's Request... a very underrated period of Paul's brilliance... And I've said it for years... So Glad to See You Here... so good, it could be the opening track to any world tour.... Underrated brilliance.

Vanilla Sky reminds me of a slowed down version of Biker Like An Icon.

I particularly like the Wings Over America version of Matchbox, and 20 Flight Rock. And these were sound check songs, not actually played in the concerts themselves. But they are to die for!!

I had to throw away my golf shoes. Why? Because I had a hole in one.

YES, You are Correct... I meant to say that consumers these days are buying far less CD's and Albums than they bought in the 70's during Paul's peak Solo/Wings years. Just the way it is! In my opinion, it's not about the quality of Paul's music in his later years. Egypt Station is one of Macca's best albums in general. Songs like "I Don't Know, Dominoes, Happy With You, Hand in Hand, etc are some of his best in his entire Solo career in my opinion.

One of the reasons why ( in my opinion) consumers now are not buying CDs like they used to, is because they only have a certain amount of spare cash to spend, and there is MUCH more now to spend it on. Mobile phones. Computers.Computer games. Tablets ( no not drugs lol!!) As well as the usual stuff, holidays, clothes, DVDs. Going out, clubbing. Dating. Just saying.

I had to throw away my golf shoes. Why? Because I had a hole in one.

As I said, I was surprised how much better the movie soundtrack version of Vanilla Sky sounded. The "Production" on it was perfect (not overproduced" and better than Paul's "live" version .
Great song in my opinion with terrific lyrics. If I was putting a "Leftovers and Rarities" CD package together, I would definitely include Vanilla Sky the movie Soundtrack version.
Have you seen the "Live Soundcheck Version of I Don't Know from Glasgow on YouTube. That song and Dominoes are both great, great songs on Egypt Station.

Yes how terrible is that for an up and coming artist. Your livelihood is just given away. I hsve to say I'm one of the guilty one's. I downloaded from YouTube Lady Ga Ga's greatest hits ( for free) because I didn't want to risk my money buying crap. Lilly Allen, too. Turns out both artists, I think, are pretty good! I like their music, but I didn't know this till I heard a lot of it. There is another artist called, Kate Melua. I heard a beautiful song by her ( can't remember it's name now) and on the strength of that, bought her CD. Oh dear! The lovely song I heard was the best track on the CD. I felt I had wasted my money ☹️
Edit. Just remembered the song. It's called, "The Closest Thing To Crazy". If you Google it and listen, have your hanky ready😢

Just want to make it clear, if Paul has enough material for a brand new Album, that would be my first choice too. On the other hand, if the new Album isn't going to be ready till 2024, the idea of an unreleased/B-side type album would be a good "fill-in" type of CD package in the meantime.

Getting back to my original post of a 1CD 22 tracks package, what do fellow posters think of my tracklist. On the whole I think they are pretty good. You can always quibble about a few song selections.

Of course, if Paul has a few more unreleased songs in his vaults (like he did on McCartney 3 with the closing track) and they were songs that even hard-core fans have never heard before, I would be thrilled to add them to this Starter package.

I like many of the B-Sides I included in my 22 tracks
but technically, they aren't truly "Unreleased." For me that's something that doesn't bother me, since many "casual" Paul fans don't know most of them.
That's really the point. Paul McCartney's Post Beatles Career has been so underrated and an album like I'm suggesting would do wonders for his overall legacy. How many Musical Artists have written so many high quality songs thadidn't make it on their "0riginal albums.
