RE: Rihanna bumps into Paul McCartney in first class on a plane to London
Hopefully Paul had his hands out and his pants off when he "bumped" into her

Very, very cool, BUT, Egypt Station should be much higher than #62!! And "NEW" deserves a Top 100 slot.
"New" deserves a top 100 only because the list it so awful. Beyonce Kanye in Lorde in the top 10 LOL. Not to mention Beyonce and Kanye need a team writers to write their "songs".
Getting back to 'NEW", the album is a classic clunker if you take away the title track and "Alligator". Not much on there that brings me back. One of his worst, and you'll be wishing for "Biker Like an Icon" instead, which is saying an awful lot!

I'm sorry you reacted with feeling hurt. I thought I made some valid points, and I wasn't trying to be sadistic or to offend you. I've seen different types and ages called up to the stage. It wasn't just one certain type.
And I've got a a soft spot for children and wanted to speak up for them. To take up for them. I wonder what bothered you so much, and wonder if others reading it thought it was an awful, hateful post.
It bothered me because it's ageist, straight up. Children are NOT the only special people or the only ones allowed to be sensitive and comforted and protected. Just becuase I'm a so-called "adult" now doesn't make me any less special than them! My heart needs just as much care and love.
Good grief lady don't go to the gigs then if you get so worked up about this. Who cares who gets called up!?!? Are you there to be seen or to hear music??

RE: How many times have you seen Paul live?
15 times going back to Milwaukee '93

I'm hot and chicks dig me, but I've never been called onstage. So there's that. Hope that makes you feel better.

RE: Were Paul McCartney and John Lennon Best Friends?
The interview with Paul and Linda was less than 2 weeks before John's muder. While it doesn't sound like they are bitter enemies, it doesn't appear they are best friends, or even friendly based on Pauls own comments.
Starts around 9:10-

RE: New album consisting of soundcheck tracks!
He should release a live album of 20 or so soundcheck songs. Lots of rarities in those soundchecks. The band plays loose. Often a better performacne than the actual show.
It would definitely be something different, and would appeal to us hardcore fans

RE: EGYPT STATION
Its been months since I've listened to the album, and like "New" there isn't much drawing me back to it.
"Chaos" and "Memory" are better albums overall IMHO.
I agree with some of the comments above, but "Dominoes" does absolutely nothing for me. Niether do the rockers on the album. "I Don't Know" is the best song of the album IMO. "Confidante" would have been the best, but the vocals aren't very good. Fuh You, Caesar Rock, Come on To Me, Who Cares are mediocre at best.
Its a better album than "New" but thats not saying much. Curious to see what Paul does next.

I think he CAN control what questions are asked...to a degree. He was there to promote the book so of course it was. I think Paul wants them to ask Beatley questions...that is what he has prepared stories for. But I too wish they would ask more current things.
And I agree that his hair color is looking great!
Agreed! Awful interview. The same questions and nonsense. I'd love to hear an interviewer not mention the Beatles, and talk about the 50 years of work since.
The future book titles book was insulting and embarrassing.

You are taking that incident totally out of context. I was just reading about it. Paul had been over once, the time when they almost went down to 30 Rock to go on SNL. Then he shows up without calling a day or so later. John was like “It’s not 1956. You can’t just show up with your guitar. Call first.” He was probably having a bad day with baby Sean or something. Totally understandable! He never told Paul not to show up on his doorstep anymore! Just to call first! After that, they spoke on the phone, but never saw each other in person again. (Although James McCartney says he had a memory of John holding. him, so who. really knows?)
It really isn't out of context if you think abou it. Paul never returned based on your own assertion, and they never saw each other again apparently.
It appears Paul was either miffed at the snub and/or John was perfectly clear he didnt want to be bothered with visits to him and "mother"
Lets not forget Lennons 1980 Playboy interview. Not too kind to Paul or Mick at points in the interview. "The Rolling Wings" snipe and others.
Was he even concerned Paul was in jail in Japan?? Supposedly Yoko tipped off the Japanese police to this(Paul had boasted about scoring "killer weed" to John), as they were going to ruin the "karma" of the hotel Paul and Linda were staying at, since it was the same room John and Yoko would stay in. Not good. Not "friendly"
You really think Yoko tipped off the Japanese police?! Yes, I have heard that rumor before and I think it’s absurd.
As far as anything negative John said about Paul, well John was notorious for saying whatever came to his mind (no filter) then later everything was fine (in John’s mind) Remember how Paul said John would lower his glasses, look at him and say “It’s just me?”
Read Kestrel’s reply to me. I agree that Paul and John probably did meet up between 1976 and 1979.
I know it sounds absurd, but never understimate her wickedness. IMHO she is NOT a nice lady. Just ask Julian. She was insanely jealous of Paul and his friendship with John. Trying to block calls from him etc.
Very few people in her innercircle have said nice things about her over the years except Elliot Mintz....who is paid by Yoko to say nice things about her lol.
Paul speaks very nice of her now. Perhaps old wounds have healed or beacause he has Beatle business with her so he has to play nice.
If you go back to the Howard Stern interview from 2001 right before Georges death, Howard grills him on Yoko. Paul clearly states he isnt going to mention his personal feelings toward her on the airwaves.
You can tell by his body language, tone of voice, and facial expressions that he cant stand the woman. Hes just too much of a gent to rip her publicly at this stage.

Really Maccaroni1974. LOLOLOLO? What, are you in the 3rd grade?
Not sure what you mean with that response, I would say most WOULD laugh at the comment BOR is better than Pepper, or Ram is the finest album of the 70's.
I agree about LIALD though the fireworks are a big reason for the response. BOR gets a nice ovation but not bigger than the Beatle hits. ANd FYI Love ME Do has been a huge hit at the gigs Ive been to.
1985, Hi Hi Hi,Letting Go have all been met with polite applause at best.
So in reality, while I enjoy all of Pauls material, his two biggest post Beatles responses are either from a James Bond film aided by pyro, or from his most successful post Beatle album BOR. Not really a stretch that those would be met with enthusiasm.
My Valentine, the other Wings tunes cited above , and the ES stuff have been the real bathroom break tunes in concert if we are being honest. That explains the Beatle heavy set in a nutshell.

RE: Newly discovered Beatles conversation tape Sept 8, 1969
This isn't new info, as this was in another Beatles book back in the late 70's about this meeting, and the 4 songs each. I am more curious about how this info was obtained. Did Ringo leak it? Were they talking near live mics that were being recorded and an engineer leaked it? Thats more appealing to me.
Without hearing the tone and context its hard to decipher how this was discussed. Tongue in cheek? With a laugh? 100% serious?? With enthusiasm? Was Paul on the defensive??
One thing I find funny is John stating to Paul he doesn't really think Paul himself likes the Maxwell Silver......Paul has never performed it live LOL. Vocally, it shouldnt be too difficult either. Makes you wonder if John was on to something.

RE: New Book: Solid State: The Story Of Abbey Road And The End Of The Beatles
I like some of these Beatle books, but ones like these based on the excerpt provdided, are things that have been publicly known for years.
Many of those quotes are from other historians who did interviews with the Fabs or the recodring team.

Wow! Every one of your posts lately are so negative! You’re of course entitled to your opinion, but I just wonder who peed in your Cheerios?
Yeah, I have been tough on Ringo. His stuff is pretty brutal though IMHO. His All Starr band doesn't have too many stars in it either if we want to go down that road too

RE: Who Sang the "A-h-h-hs" in "A Day in the Life"...?
LOL I'm not trying to "win" anything ot defeat anybody this isn't a tournament...for me anyways.
You were trying to use big technical terms that I thought was boring. and I moved on.
The post I quoted at least addressed each point. Looking back at the post I referenced from the SHF actually nobody refuted it. In fact it clammed most of them up once posted lol.
While I appreciate the reference to the German article. If you actually read it, you cannot tell who is making the quote referrinf to that vocal section. There are quotes by Martin clearly marked as Martin, and quotes by Okell clearly marked as Okell.
That particular passage only has a quote, but no mention of who is speaking.
While I also appreciate Briam Kehew's work and book, his quote implies he hasn't even listend to the isolated vox that have been accesible for years seeing as he refers to an engineer that has. Only stating "current analysis", but doesn't explain the analysis.
rhodeshullmusic:
When recording A Day in the Life, what was the process like of recording John's interlude of just him and the orchestra? It is my most favorite moment in any song and I’m curious on how many takes it took, and just johns emotions about it in the process?Brian: That famous climbing interlude also has some instruments underneath and the vocal – the orchestra was added later in a special session – several takes of the same orchestra doing it over and over. That makes that huge sound, very powerful. There is a BIG controversy over who sings that part, as everyone always assumed it's John's voice doing a distant and typically nasal tone. But current analysis seems to think it's Paul singing there – and it is his “part of the song.” Although one Abbey Road person who's heard it says he thinks it is BOTH of them singing the line, one after the other – he's heard the isolated actual tape track and still can't tell for sure!
