Paul's new album and promotion
-
These are great! "Come On To Me" is a pure classic macca rocker. This will work great in the live set. I'm ready to roll the windows down and sing!
"I Don't Know" is also loveable, but I prefer the former. I think the title is a little lazy, given the nice lyrics surely there could've been a stronger title. It has some of Paul's signature harmonic calling cards. It also sounds like a female backing vocal in there...any idea who? While I'm always happy to hear new macca music live, this one would send 'em to the bathroom and beer lines.

That’s rather a dark song. Still, I think it’s good (like For No One is a sad, but great song)

It did nothing for me at first listen like I mentioned in another thread, maybe it will grow on me. This song sounds like it would have fit the general mood of songs on CHAOS.

Love them both. ‘Come On to Me’ is extremely catchy, but I’m particularly taken with ‘I Don’t Know’. A beautiful, thoughtful tune with a lot of depth. I can’t wait to hear the remainder of the album. I have a feeling it might be a bit special.

I thought the same thing about C&CITBY. It has a similar chord structure to "At The Mercy". Where as, "Come On To Me" sounds like it could've been a missing single from NEW.

Did anybody else get goosebumps as they heard the piano into to "I Don't Know"?
is that homage to Lennon's "Now and Then"?
Yes, was so moved by the music, and the words.... it's such a beautiful song! Another beautiful creation by Paul, just wonderful!
Reminds me also of "Now and Then"
Also love "Come on to you"... very catchy beat, with hot lyrics (blush) and will be really popular when Paul goes on tour!!

That piano intro to "I Don't Know" was chillingly Paul, when you think of all those great piano intros over time. It always feels good to hear that signature sound. I like the artwork, too!

The new email just sent out also states that the record opens and closes with instrumentals "Station I" & "Station II" and namedrops a few of the other tunes, including a seven-minute multi-movement suite. This all sounds excellent in written text, I hope the record holds up as my expectations seem to keep climbing with each bit of press release. It also sounds like lots of material that would hold up well live and possibly serve as a catalyst for revamping the show.

I haven't seen it for a long time but as soon as I saw the cover of 'Egypt Station' I instantly thought of George Harrison's 'Gone Troppo' album.

You're right! Very similar. I think George's has some photographs mixed in it, including himself, unlike Paul's which is just his art.

Sounds interesting especially with instrumentals opening and closing the album and 7 minute multi-movement suite. IMO it does not sound like a very commercial album and that is fine with me. I have stated before the release of new music from McCartney excites me so much more than his never ending touring. I honestly don't think he will revamp his setlist, he will do the usual and add 3-4 songs from this album into the show. While that is a good thing, it still does nothing for some of us who have wished for previous solo songs never performed live in his setlist. As a bunch of us have stated way too often (lol), we have no problem with him doing 20-25 hit Beatle/Wings songs. It is the remaining 10-12 that we wish he would mix up and give us some of the music we are dying to hear live.

Egypt Station will be released Sept 7th. I already have it on pre-order.

I'll get the CD and LP at my local record store on Septemebr 7th. Depending on the specifics of the exclusive deluxe boxset, I may order that from Macca. If there is any remaining funds, I'll order the coloured vinyl too. I also have it on good word that a 7-inch single of "I Don't Know" & "Come On To Me" will be released in August.

The art is from one of his original paintings from his book "Paul McCartney Paintings" aptly titled Egypt Station. TRIVIA QUESTION: What other album did he use one of his paintings for the cover art?

Reminds me a bit of the piano intro to Stina Nordenstam's Parliament Square.....but not as good.

On "I Don't Know" I had a moment when I first heard the piano intro to the song, that he had finsihed "Now and Then"
chill went up my spine...
For me, I like it even more than I very much like "Come On To You"

Pity the songs aren't on the ITUNES homepage. I had to type in the song names in search for them to appear. I bought the singles through Amazon at Noon straight up

Yes I sent to the exhibition of his actual paintings in 2002 a nd Egypt station really stood out, I bought the print at the time I liked it that much - so glad he's using it now
