Paul McCartney 2014 Rumors

What exactly is the plan for this thing?
I don't know. And I'm not sure I wanna know. Excuse me while I go bury my head in the sand for the next 6 months and pretend this isn't happening. He could have revamped the set list, or worked with a vocal coach. Instead, he spent a million bucks to build a robot. ops: Wake me when it's over.
-
Maybe it'll be a combination of the three...
-
Maybe the robot is something for a NEW pre show. Or maybe not something entirely NEW. Maybe the robot will be the NEW pre show "DJ" that lights up, flickers and everything. Or it could also be used as a hologram of John, or some Beatle related hologram. When I saw this it kind of reminded me of "Light Man" that Michael Jackson was going to use for This Is It.

I wonder which song would the robot be used in: "Appreciate"? "Goodnight Tonight"? Something from McCartney II?

This "Out There" tour has been going on since last year, so by that logic, at 62 shows and counting, maybe that's what they mean by "massive"! Or, perhaps, a bit of puffery to generate excitement.
"puffery" GREAT word!
You could be right, but my point would still be the same because almost every tour spanned over 2 years, I don't find this one any different so far. Of course if he went away from what he has done and there is another big span of shows and he's back earlier then November...then it would be much larger. Wondering if the South America rumors are the same people who claimed he was playing the World Cup? I would place the smart money on Europe/UK being the next stop. He's done South America this year and those regions have been pretty much ignored for a few years. However, let's face it...although I seriously doubt he'd return to South America...it is all about money to the promoters so with that said..anything can happen
Do you think the "Out There" brand might be used in 2015 also? Then the tour could potentially pass 100 dates. They would still pretty much be playing with words given that Paul now uses a kind of "Bob Dylan Lite"(TM) touring model but it would technically be his biggest tour since 93 and potentially a proper world tour (depending on whether he makes it to Europe and Australia of course).* Cheers, Andrew. * A "world tour" that doesn't include Australia is not really a world tour. To anyone thinking of arguing that it is, I say "don't come the raw prawn, mate!".

My prediction: by the time he returns to the US for the Summer 2015 shows, the tour will have a different name.

I have confidence Paul will do Brazil and Argentina in the next 10 months. "Intuition... takes me there"
I have 100% confidence that Paul will play some city in some country in the next 9 months Ambiguity takes me there!
What if Candlestick is the last show?

At this moment it is the last show. He may or may not come back out after but I think this year will bring at least a little more

McCartney did an interview for Barakan FM: http://www.interfm.co.jp/paulmccartney/ Via http://blog.kouchu.info/2014/05/Peter-Paul.html and http://www.interfm.co.jp/barakan/blog/2014/05/15/09/50 you can learn a few things via Google Translate: "Idea was also to be used for the jacket NEW robots have appeared new music video was released in Japan for the first time in the 5/15 world "Appreciate" and "NEW MAN". I did not realize it, but it was supposed to see the light of day as a robot to manage exhibits of human museum of the future "Paul McCartney" in a music video. It was good to be published for the first time in the world a video which can be called this Japanese Japan because it is the country of the robot." Music video... 'Appreciate'... Newman... Any interpretation lol?

Ah, there he is.

Cue the ridicule when the Daily Mail publishes these photos. I can just see the comments: "Hope the robot does the singing." "Is that Nancy?" etc, etc. Paul really is a glutton for punishment. FFS.
-
The video clip that Stewart Bell posted you can see that it is more a puppet of a robot, than a true robot. There are people covered all in black manipulating it. (Note: The clip can be seen on the main website) Will still be interesting how it may be used in the show. With the name "NEWman", it will most likely be used in a song or songs from the NEW album. Podgie (I wonder if this is just for show, and a real robot will be on stage?) Monkey

I'll stick with the odds on favorite, Europe/UK in Nov/DEC for two reasons..been a few years since there and that fact that he promised he'd be returning to at least Germany and UK this year in that interview in December 2013
I thought there was another interview around the promotion of "New"(either September or October) when he said would like do a 2014 show(s) the UK. But I don't recall anything about Germany or Europe mentioned in that radio interview. I think it was a US interview, but it hadn't been connected with any of the UK promotional appearance he had done. I just thought at the time it would be a Spring 2014 thing.

Sigh. He's gonna be incredibly ridiculed over this.
Maybe so, but it's still PR! This is not the wackiest thing a musician has done by a mile

I think it's cute and that the press photo is one cool picture .

Yeah, Germany was definitely mentioned: http://maccaboard.paulmccartney.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=2734414#2734414 Funny how at the time I posted I was gutted I wouldn't see McCartney in 2013, now it's more realistic I will never get to see one gig from the 'Out There'-tour.

I think people have read too much into that quote over the past few months. He was asked by a German journalist if he were going to tour in Germany, so of course he was not going to risk distancing himself from his fanbase there by completely ruling it out. He was mostly just being nice, but no definite plans for a big European tour or anything.

Have to agree with you, talk is cheap tours aren't he'll tour over here when the financial time is right not before, the interview was held at a time he was flogging the new album he was hardly going to say he had no plans to tour was he?. Not being cynical but in these harder times he will (along with many other artists too,its a quiet year tour wise) only tour when the money makes sense not before.
-
Is Europe going through a financial crisis at the moment?

Ah, there he is.
What a clown! He has no idea anymore.
