Paul's new album and promotion
-
This is just a feeling I get, have no sources to back this up, but think an announcement will be made next week on his birthday, June 18, that the album will be released on Labor Day weekend... with his tour beginning the week after that.
It's possible he'll want to tour in places he hasn't been to in a while... I'm thinking UK and Europe and then some spots in the US he wasn't able to be at on the One on One tour... not sure about NYC area, he hit all the major stadiums there last year, but he is promoting his new album, so it's anyone's guess... seems like he would.
Maybe he'll make a few stops in the far east and australia too... he missed Adelaide on the tour last year. And no doubt he'll play some gigs in South America.

Saw a web report where it was said that the new album would drop on Friday??????
-
I wouldn't be surprised if he just surprises us and drops it this Friday
-
This newscaster casually mentions that it drops on Friday (but still calling the song “If You Come Home To Me” when the context/other lyrics of the song clearly make it “Come On!”)

Call me old-fashioned, but I'd much rather the album was released properly, preceded by a lead single and subsequently a proper physical release on CD and vinyl. I’ve never been keen on the concept of releasing albums ‘out of the blue’. I love the anticipation of looking forward to a new release, as opposed to everything coming out at once.
Assuming it is being released normally, I would guess the album might be released sometime in September. If I remember correctly, the lead single from New was released towards the end of August, and the album eventually came out in mid-October. As the publicity machine has already started moving for the next album, I imagine it won’t be too long before we get to hear a new single, hence my guess of September.
Looking forward to it, in any case!

Here's a better clip of McCartney performing his new single. Just click on the link below.

Agree but he did actually do that in 1989 tour when he opened with "Figure Of Eight".

Could be far sooner. When he tweeted out words that were preceded with “New” his single dropped the next day. The album followed less than two months later. On that time frame, single today or tomorrow with an album in August.
I doubt the album would come out in August when a lot of folk are on their holidays. The summer months are generally avoided by most major artists where new albums are concerned. I can't think of a single album by Paul / Wings / Beatles that was released in August. July isn't a very good time either for similar reasons. The very earliest would be September, perhaps to create some distance between the new album and the Beatles 50th anniversary White album release in November but personally I would still go with October. It would be nice to be proved wrong though and have a release in the coming couple of months.
Maybe August would be good release time, lot less competition from other artists - lol

New blurry photo on his social media sites. This one does say McCartney in a handwritten note..
For the life of me I can't figure out how to upload the photo from my phone. Feeling pretty defeated right now lol

In addition to the new song played last weekend, Paul has mentioned bits and pieces about other songs that may be on the album. If anyone has read about other songs, we can add them to the list.
1) "I Don't Know" - recorded with Ringo (remember reading this but can't find link where I saw it. Will continue to do some searching.)
2) A Latin rhythm song
https://www.the-paulmccartney-project.com/album/upcoming-2018-album/
My new album actually has something which is decidedly Latin. But I don’t know if it will make the cut. You never know with these things, but I think it will and people will understand what I’m talking about when they hear it. But I love Latin rhythms ...
- A song about Donald Trump
https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/news/liverpool-news/paul-mccartney-explains-hes-written-13402339
Beatles legend Paul McCartney has written a song about Donald Trump on his new album.
Macca was speaking to students at the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts (LIPA) when he made the announcement.
While McCartney, 75, didn't imply whether the song was in favour of the US President or not, he did say that he felt he HAD to write it.
He told students at LIPA : “Sometimes the situation in the world is so crazy, that you’ve got to address it."
4. A song about Brazil (which may be same as #2 above)
https://macca-news.blogspot.com/2017/10/mccartneys-still-working-on-new-album.html
Paul: “Between one show and another, I’m making the new album. And it’s interesting because there’s a special track for Brazil, but that’s all I can tell you right now. I think you’ll like this.”

We also know that the album was produced by Greg Kurstin, who has produced recent material by Beck, Foo Fighters, and Adele, among many others. My guess is that the style of this new album will be all over the place, like on New. He wants to appeal to as many people as possible, and he likes music that pushes boundaries, so I'm sure that once again the fans will be sharply divided, whatever he puts out!
I'm still betting on the album coming out sometime between today and next Friday. Since he's now confirmed for James Corden's show next Thursday (which is probably just the previously filmed "Carpool Karaoke" segment), it could make sense for the album to come out the following day. Supposedly, his Corden segment includes "some new material," so I very much doubt he would preview several new songs and then wait till September to release the album.
One possibility that I know everyone will hate is that the album comes out ONLY on Spotify and other streaming services to begin with (and possibly downloads), and then we'd have to wait for the physical product for weeks, perhaps. But remember that Billboard now counts "streams" toward sales, so if he drops the whole album at once and everybody is streaming it just to hear it, that could be his one good chance for a surge of "sales" that would put the album at least in the Top 10.

I guess we will see what happens. All of his recent albums (not counting the Fireman) have entered in the top 10, it is just they don't stay there very long. I believe "New" entered the charts the first week at #3.

Two songs were copyrighted by MPL last summer which might be on the new album:
Let My Self Down
Special Day
