After two listens, I'd say I'm "whelmed" -- neither over- or under-.  "Come On To Me" is catchier to me, and grew on the second listen.  (Kinda reminds me of his "Nod Your Head" trope?)  I found the lyrics to "I Don't Know" somewhat trite and on his lazier side (there is some "moon in June" aspects, to reference Yoko).  So, neither knocked out nor disappointed, but if these represent sort of the middle of the curve for the album (as the first songs released typically do), we should be in good shape on September 7.

Can anyone give my a little background on the Album title...Egypt Station.  If there are previous explanations in other threads, I do apologize.

It seems like a strange title but then again, it is intriguing.   The only thing that I read from Paul himself is that he liked the title and that each track represents another station.  Is "Egypt Station" a relatively well known place in Egypt or England for that matter.

            Thanks

Sounds like RAM part II and I'm very on board with that.

              Love both of them!

Read upthread a little.  Egypt Station was the title of a painting he did. I posted a pic of it.

The art is from one of his original paintings from his book "Paul McCartney Paintings" aptly titled Egypt Station. TRIVIA QUESTION: What other album did he use one of his paintings for the cover art?

Yes I sent to the exhibition of his actual paintings in 2002 a nd Egypt station really stood out, I bought the print at the time I liked it that much - so glad he's using it now

                  Nice!

I wouldn't say it sounds like RAM...but it certainly looks like it!

First I ordered from Amazon, but then cancelled it and for $2 more, pre-ordered the one from Target that has 2 bonus tracks. Total was $18.01 (free shipping)

Plus, there's an Egypt Station in Mississippi, site of a CIvil War battle, although Paul hasn't mentioned that, so I don't know if it's a coincidence. I think that icon he's using is cool, and I think it's meant to look both like a pyramid emitting radio waves AND a train going down tracks into a tunnel.

I think he likes the idea of trains as a theme—lots of rock and roll history involving songs about trains—and it seems he has at least a couple of other songs on the album that touch on current events, so Egypt being in the Middle East may be a reference to that, not to mention the American South (racial tensions, etc.), if the Civil War battle reference is intentional. Guess we'll find out in September!

At the exhibition it had some blurb next to each painting and I'm sure it just said to him it looked like Egypt type things at a railway platform so he called it that.   Think the book and prob explain more I'll look when I can

Just heard and saw the vids for the two new ones, for the first time, on You Tube and my first impression's real good, got me chompin' at the bit for the new album--intriguing funky vid for "I Don't Know," especially, quite artsy and quirky. What's that knob thingie on the astronaut--is it???No, surely not, LOL. I dig Paul's strong Southern accent on "Come on To Me" and heard it on "I Don't Know" too. On the latter, he sounds pretty upbeat for singing about being effed up or going through a thing, whatever it is. A funk. His funk sounds funky and fun. "Come On To" is refreshingly naughty in these #MeToo times. Maybe the object of his desire won't be offended, LOL. I doubt it !

First I ordered from Amazon, but then cancelled it and for $2 more, pre-ordered the one from Target that has 2 bonus tracks. Total was $18.01 (free shipping)

                                        Nancy,

Do you know what the "bonus Tracks" are?  Are they unreleased songs from the past?  I doubt that they would be 2 more Egypt Statlion songs at this early stage.
