Ringo's new album will be released on September 15: http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/ringo-starr-announces-all-star-new-lp-give-more-love-w491314 Would that prevent Paul from releasing his album during the same month while touring the US?

IMO the answer is no. Neither one of them is a huge commercial seller anymore especially Ringo so I don't think it makes a difference.

        Maybe I'm amazed !!

Paul is using Adele's producer to produce his new album. Yikes! Not a good sign.

In addition to co-writing and producing "Hello" for Adele, which won three grammys (including song of the year), Greg Kurstin also produced the album "Morning Phase" by Beck (which won the Grammy for album of the year), The Shins album "Port of Morrow", a couple of albums for Sia, and is the producer for the upcoming Foo Fighters album, "Concrete and Gold". That's a pretty diverse list of artists, so I'm excited to see what kind of record McCartney made with him!

Check out a cover of "Put It There" I did with my brother and our dad!

That alliance does sound promising, considering the artists Kurstin's worked with besides Adele. Not that she's just small potatoes herself, but she's pretty commercialized I guess. Not way "out there" and super artsy, but with a distinctive pleasing singing voice and songwriting talents. It's cool he helped produce Beck, Sia, the Shins and Foo Fighters and their ilk. Seems like Macca chose wisely

Personally I wish he'd just produce himself.

My critique is that Paul is going for the "flavor of the month". He's done this in the past with very mixed results. Hugh Padgham , Trevor Horn are just a few "hot" producers that come to mind that did poorly with Macca's material. Kurtin is known for his "big" sound & this makes me worried Paul is trying to go for commercial songs. At this point in his career, I'd rather see experimental Paul.

I heard New, Alligator and Appreciate on the radio several times. Our local station (that plays everything from Macca to Taylor Swift and the Opera) played them a lot when the record came out

Why would he? He's only been doing this for 55 years. I, on the other hand, have never produced an album in my life, but I have an internet connection, so obviously I know what he should do.

Wow. That is an eclectic mix of music.

Kurstin produced Sia's "Chandelier," which is one of Paul's favorite tracks of the past few years. Paul has always chosen producers based on whether he likes their previous work or not. A "flavor of the month" producer would be someone like Mike Will Made It, Skrillex or the various EDM producers, since that's what hot right now. Paul further mentioned that he chose Kurstin because they worked together on the music for "High in the Clouds" prior to Kurstin's work with Adele, and worked well together.

_________________________________________ very clever answer Clem. We were just discussing the possibility of Paul doing one or two of the new songs (on a thread in the Rock Show section called What's More Unfortunate) when he hits NYC in September. He has all of August off so Pau/Band have the time to rehearse them. We just don't know if he is that close yet to unveil a couple of the songs. While I know some people don't like McCartney 2 but I do like it generally. "Nobody Knows" is Paul doing Little Richard and singing his "you know what" off. Like the wacky, off the wall Paul sometimes. One of my favorites on thiz album.
