FourFiveSeconds- new collab. with Rihanna, Kanye and Paul
-
Yeah, I like some songs by Abba and Kiss myself. And I also enjoy "FourFiveSeconds". It seems like they are releasing it on CD in March , I was hoping for vinyl... but I'm glad they are going for the physical record, I am a collector, and I can now look forward to play it on my stereo!

Who's they? I thought this was going to be on Rihanna's album.

It is the trio, I found the CD single on Amazon: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Fourfiveseconds-Rihanna-Kanye-West-Mccartney/dp/B00T6XDJKK/ref=sr_1_28?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1424126365&sr=1-28&keywords=paul+mccartney

This whole episode reeks of desperation, fans trying to credit Paul as much as possible simply because he's incapable of having a hit single solely under his own name.
Spot on. Not a Paul McCartney #1 in my book. Without the hysterical hype you wouldn't know he had some sort of involvement with the song. At least on his genuine collaborations with Jacko, Stevie Wonder and Elvis Costello there was no doubt about it. Here, no-one knows for sure what he contributed. Two chords on an acoustic guitar? A word or to in the songwriting committee room? Vapid, zen-like inspiration? Veggie burgers on a Monday?

He has a writer's credit on it, guess that makes it as legit a collaboration as any he did with anybody.

Sure it counts. He's a co-writer of the song and he played on it.
Paul wrote and played on 'Goodbye' by Mary Hopkin, a single that went top 5 in at least 6 counties and yet I don't remember much fuss being made about that release. This whole episode reeks of desperation, fans trying to credit Paul as much as possible simply because he's incapable of having a hit single solely under his own name. I don't care for Kanye or Rihanna or Paul's involvement on their recordings. Paul is still making excellent solo albums on a regular basis and that's what counts.
Well, tell Billboard about it. The credit isn't coming from me.

Of course it's a "legit collaboration". Proclaiming he should have a #1 single attached to his discography is another matter. No-one can pick him out of the recording, so how does that warrant a performer credit and a #1? I can't hear him on George's "All Those Years Ago" either but George says he sang on it. Does that mean he should get a #2 added to his discography?
-
If "All Those Years Ago" was a hip hop record it would have been credited with Featuring Paul McCartney. The credits for "FourFiveSeconds" is a bit odd actually. If you go back and enter his name on the front of every collaboration he did in his career, you can probably add fifty (or one hundred) top ten hits to his credentials.

I saw in USToday that "45 Seconds" is #13 in the Top 40 chart as of this morning. Could Paul hit another Top 10 next week?

Not sure what chart they use, but the song is already #6 as of last week's Billboard, and tomorrow we should find out if it has gone any higher this week, which it probably has.

Well, it's turning out he was in the room for every song John wrote, so now he co-wrote every John Lennon song.

Its not just a writing credit. He's 1 of the 3 listed performers of the song. So, is if it's #1, its another McCartney #1.

Just heard this song at my gym. Kind of weird, but it sounded good booming out into a big room.
-
This song is as much Paul McCartney as Uptown Funk is Mark Ronson. Don't see anyone saying he doesn't deserve to be credited.

Excellent analogy.

Or "Just Once" and "One Hundred Ways" by Quincy Jones (vocals by James Ingram) in 1981. Or "Just The Two Of Us" by Grover Washington, Jr. (vocals by Bill Withers).
