THE NEXT DELUXE/REMASTERED ALBUM FROM PAUL

I am going to be very disappointed if Red Rose Speedway doesn't come out. I supposed to some degree I care more about remastering and HD audio than the packaging, but the packaging is very nice. In fact, if they don't release everything from 70-80 in individual packages, they should at least do round-up deluxe packaging (e.g, Wild Life/RRS as one package, London Town/BTTE as another). OK, that is a stupid idea, but I would really like to have the deluxe packages of all of the work on my bookshelf.
Not stupid at all. Heck I figure put out Wild Life/RRS, London Town/BTTE, Tug of War/Pipes/Broadstreet as a triple package, and finally Venus and Mars/Speed of Sound as another double package. All others should also get some sort of extra cd and dvd as well.
-
I really hope all the Wings LPs will come out in the deluxe packaging. The only reason I'm buying any of these reissues is for the bonus material, otherwise I'm good with what I have. Looking forward to Venus and Mars, my favorite Wings LP.
-
I would LOVE RED ROSE SPEEDWAY and BACK TO THE EGG and VENUS AND MARS....Cant see much more reasons for other deluxe packaging ...

I agree, that would make the most sense, especially putting Tug Of War/Pipes/Broad Street together seems natural to me.

I think RRS is a mistake print should be SPEED OF SOUND But also heard a rumour that VENUS / SPEED , ARE THE LAST BIG Deluxe versions , maybe that means they may come out faster
It's got to be "V&M"/"Speed". They officially teased that pairing in a card that came inside the McCartney and McCartney II boxes back in 2011. A couple of years ago, Paul's manager said in an interview that there would not be more than maybe 8 or 9 of these big deluxe reissues, so any way you count them, they're definitely near the end. I do hope they continue on with other releases in smaller packages, but still with a bonus CD and a DVD. And now that the U.S. tour is finally all announced, I'll bet we get an announcement on the next set in the next week or two, since they're supposedly coming June 17th.
I'm sure the Deluxe Box Sets are totally based on sales. Those are VERY expensive to produce. I think we'll see remastered editions of ALL his albums, including bonus tracks, at least up to Flowers in the Dirt. But I doubt we'll continue to see the extravagant box sets after the next two, if even those. My wish list is for Archive sets with extras of Venus and Mars and Tug of War.
-
I am getting concerned that the rumored June release date isn't happening, as we'd have to have some official announcement pretty quickly. As for me, I wouldn't complain if they went away from the extravagant box sets/deluxe editions, as long as we still get remasters with bonus CDs/DVDs. The books and extras are cool, but make repurchasing all of this stuff very expensive. If they were simple 2 CD/1 DVD sets without extras (other than a nice CD booklet), these could be way more affordable and hopefully come out without nearly so much time in between releases.
-
The reissues were put on hult. Supposedly they can't get what they want to release right. From what I'm hearing they're trying to chose between "Venus and Mars" and "Wings at the Speed of Sound" and "Venus and Mars" and "Red Rose Speedway". This was from the BeatleFan mag... But I don't have the quote handy.. So, all in a all, June 17th us not going to be the release date.
-
It's been V&M and SOS since forever ago and confirmed with a paper advert stuffed in all of the WOA releases....don't know why there is any dispute. http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-RqkAaOfc5dU/UaIo7eIKG-I/AAAAAAAAGrM/oYw_RVmyqKo/s1600/nextremasters.jpg

Doesn't sound logical to me... I don't see why they would release V&M together with RRS. But that the release is postponed is clear, otherwise there would be any news about it already. The good thing though, is that they are planning to release a deluxe package of Red Rose Speedway!

I wonder what kind of extras we could expect with Venus & Mars or Speed of Sound for that matter? I wish they'd step up the release dates a bit.
They are all done with such attention to detail, every one I have is so cherished for it's wonderful extras! I't probably why it takes so long. Plus you have to save up to buy them!!

Actually the problem with deluxe/superdeluxe exists for 2 albums from the 70s Wild Life and Speed of Sound ( which they seem determined to release, having been announced on the flyer that came with earlier releases). I really don`t know how you can expand those to even a special edition wit a bonus disc. RRS has plenty of extra material, being initially intended to be a double album. Likewise V&A, London Town, BTTE all have extra songs recorded at the sessions, some truly great stuff like Waterspout, Cage, Tragedy (RRS) etc. Would be best to release those albums with meaningful additions (e.g. the BTTE video clips as a bonus dvd with super deluxe) . SOS simply doesn`t have anything you can add to it other than The Country Hams single, where Paul recorded a song by his dad "Walking in the Park with Eloise"

I always thought that Speed Of Sound should have the "Wings Over the World" special on a bonus DVD but looks like that was spoiled by including it in the mega deluxe Wings Over America. WOA should have had Rock Show as the bonus DVD. Wild Life could have a bonus DVD made from the early Wings rehearsal footage that we got a peek at in the 86 McCartney Special. Speed of Sound could also have some of the stuff that circulated on the Trevor Jones tapes.

I think they should release Wild Life and Red Rose Speedway in a combined deluxe set and then Venus & Mars as a smallish deluxe set. Two separate sets but released at the same time this summer, please. SOS is only marginally interesting. Why spend a lot of time reworking an album with such marginal interest and with so few opportunities for extras?

Because it was Paul's most successful post-Beatles album at the time, hitting no. 1 no less than three separate times in the U.S. in 1976, and spent 7 weeks at no. 1. It also contains what I consider his finest rocker and best vocal, Beware My Love. And it's also the only Wings album with a Linda McCartney solo song, the delightful Cook of the House. I think it needed to be reworked, and I hope there's a cool bonus disc of outtakes and extras.

The Throwback Thursday post today was from Venus and Mars. Hopefully it is an inkling of what is to come

In fact, they've been teasing V&M and SOS since the McCartney / McCartney II reissues in 2011, at least. The RRS announcement was clearly due to some kind of mistake (two "Speed" titles), but I think it's a very good bet that those other two will still be big deluxe sets, although they may be the last big ones. I am highly doubting that June 17th date now. Maybe they don't want to interfere with the tour and the New videos by promoting older things.

What about all the session outtakes released on the "Trevor Jones Tapes bootlegs"? For example, "Must do something about it" with Paul on vocals, etc.

I think you are right about V&M/SOS getting in the way of New and boosting the sales on that, assuming these US dates are indeed are a go. I remember last summer he did TV appearances with the US dates and he plugged Wings Over America. It would be strange to do the same this year and talk up two albums pushing 40 years old (can't believe it's been that long) when you have a fresh album out there.
