Paul McCartney 2013 Rumours

Yeah, I agree, I am certainly not criticizing McCartney. But we have to face it is not 1989 or 1993 anymore. Things have changed.

I'm looking forward to an "US Tour" type announcement and a setlist with at least 5 songs from "NEW." I just have a feeling about it.

So far a lot of media promotion for NEW. That's cool! But as the release date nears, nothing on any concert dates to promote it. I am starting to wonder if in this NEW era, McCartney will only do tv, internet, and "special" events to promote a new CD, and then tour playing old hits to make big bucks.
I think an uncomfortable truth for us lot is this, the big bucks while touring IS the greatest hits package no doubt a song or two will find its way into the set but for the most part people who go to Paul's shows want to see the golden years stuff now rather than a tour chock full of the new album.
And that`s the case with most artists. People do not tour to promote albums anymore.

Oh, I agree. I said as much on the promoting NEW thread a while back. It's just that so far, there seems to be nothing to indicate this will happen. I hope it does!

Yeah, it's a whole new era. Or NEW era!

I think there's hope for more than two songs! I guess we'll find out in Japan. I'm really feeling five songs. New, Save Us, Everybody Out There, Queenie Eye, Early Days.

...don't forget "I Can Bet".

So no euro rumors dates wise at all?
-
It would make sense, publicity wise, to announce any dates just after the album has been released. Fingers crossed, hen.

I think you are right that we could have as many as five. Let's not forgot that in 2009 he did four new ones off his two latest albums that he didn't tour, splitting the difference between 2007's MAF with two songs, Dance Tonight and Mama Only Knows, and then tossing in two from the following year's Electric Arguments with Highway and Sing the Changes.

True! I often forget about the fireman tracks being played live.

No UK shows again?? He said in a BBC radio interview he'd like to end the year doing UK shows and then this?? Just goes to show that a lot of things he says are just words and nothing more. I'm going to prepare myself to be bitterly disappointed yet again in December. Seriously, Paul, why bother raising our hopes at all? :

Let's hope it are, since then we might have a chance at an announcement in the next 2/3 weeks . Time frame is getting very small now though. 2009 was announced 22 October. 2011 was announced 10 October. The two disastrous UK gigs in 2010 were announced 7 December though, but he will never ever do it again that way.

The second the Japanese dates came I suspected there'd be no xmas shows in the UK to be honest there's surely just not the time to do it

Obviously not the gigs, with many exclusive additions dropped again in the year after that, but the organisation. It was during the days of the 2010 Winter From Hell. Tickets being given away on the street because many people couldn't make it, etc. Not even to mention the Liverpool (1500 capacity venue) trauma. Managed to get tickets, but couldn't purchase them because they didn't allowed none-UK addresses. (As if that would have been a problem, if they would have announced that beforehand). Then, on the DAY OF THE GIG: "we set aside some tickets, on sale now, for all international customers!" Yeahhhh, nicely played.... (Maybe it was a stroke of luck, because none of the flights I could have booked departed).

If Paul does decide to tour with the 'New' Album, hopes its more than just 3 shows in Europe ? There will surely would be demand for them with or without promoting an album. Yes disappointed if there's no xmas shows for this year
