The U.S. press in 1964 almost universally thought the Beatles were, at best, a mildly interesting novelty that would be forgotten in a year. They were, it appears, somewhat mistaken.

      😂 ROTFLMAO!

P.S. Too bad they printed that nice photo backwards! â˜č

I love the way Ringo got 2 hands waving. The second one waving out of his right shoulder. 3 hands in total. No wonder he was such an amazing drummer!!😆😉

      Hardy har har. 🙄😉

@fast-city-line I agree that it is George doing the slow countdown and I think it’s Paul doing the fast one and he yells “Go!” The cough could be Paul too.
As far as the Aaaahhs in A Day In The Life I’m torn between John & Paul on that. Would have to listen again with earphones.

I just listened to it myself with my high-powered headphones. Aside from a few other details I picked up that interest me, I paid keen attention to that portion, but also to John's singing elsewhere as I think it's relevant because he does a couple of things with his voice that go up high like with "Albert Hall", and you can detect the Lennon twang in those, as one does in the "Ahhhs". So to me, if Paul did it, and he certainly is capable of doing that, he purposefully tried to sound like John, because it clearly sounds like John with that nasal twang and thin quality. I don't know why Paul would try to sound like John, particularly as he's not sounding like John during his little portion right before. Also I have heard isolated tracks of the "Ahhhs" and it sounds to me like whoever did it tracked over more than once maybe two or three times to get an effect of two (or more) voices merging down one note into a half step below it simultaneously so to speak. Those isolated "Ahhhs" sound to me even more like John.

I tend to lean toward it being John as well. So busy today didn’t have time to listen! Tomorrow I just have to do my taxes (super easy this year!) so will pop the CD in my blu-ray player and listen with earbuds plugged into TV!

Here’s “Good Ole Freda” with Paul circa 1963 and sometime in the 21st century! I first saw her at Abbey Road On The River around 2012 and she looked pretty much like that.

      @njr Thanks anyway!

After short Google search, I found this!

      https://www.musicnotes.com/sheetmusic/mtd.asp?ppn=MN0118196

Thanks, it looks promising, but they won't preview the only part I need -- the last page!

Ya want something bad enough, ya gotta pay for it! 😂

Yeah, but in this case it's like buying a car from a salesman who won't let you look at the engine!

I know this is probably just another one of your jokes, but the guy would hardly publish the entire thing if he’s trying to sell it! What would be the point of that?

True; but there could be a compromise. He could answer my question "do you include those chords at the very end where the song spins out into an electric guitar solo?" At that point I'd still have to trust his word, but at least I'd have more to go by. In the meantime, I've found 3 different versions of those end chords and will do a comparison soon.

Were you able to contact him or not?
P.S. When I wrote to you about you joking, I was thinking I was writing to @wandy! 😂
Good luck & let us know what happens!

I just sent them an email -- we'll see!

I thought you wuz replying to wandy, too. I thought is she replying to me!

😂 He reminded me of you (“the joker”)

@wandy When I was at St. Peter’s Church in 2016 having just seen the Eleanor Rigby gravestone for the 2nd time, I saw this “little old man” sitting on a bench near the church. He was holding a large framed photo from Paul’s Liverpool Institute and I think he said he was a year or two ahead of Paul, so he had to be about 78 at the time! I asked if I could take a close up of the photo (I’d seen it before many times)

      Nice pic. I spotted Paul😃

Yeah I zoomed in on him and didn’t photograph the entire picture which was about 2 feet long and 1 foot wide!
I wonder if Ivan is the tall guy with glasses in the back row behind Paul?

      Haven't a clue, I'm afraid.

I have this magazine (bought in 1968)

      https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v319/njr/Paul McCartney and The Beatles/LIFE_1968.jpg

Looks like the same shirt Ringo is wearing on the White album photos. Poor lad! Only one shirt to his name😁

Which White Album photos? The magazine photo was taken July 28, 1968 and they were recording the White Album 30 May – 14 October 1968, so it very well could have been the same shirt. (and I know you are just joking around, but I’m curious what WA photos you are referring to)

Over here in the UK, we got 4 headshot photos of the Beatles, and a fairly big poster, included within the Beatles White album gatefold cover. On the poster you can clearly see Ringo wearing a quite similar shirt to his yellow frilly shirt he's wearing on his Mad Day Out. And if my memory serves me correctly, in the headshot photo of Ringo, you can just see some of that shirt. I had the poster on my bedroom wall for years. The 4 Beatles headshots I framed and had them on my wall for years. Only the Lord knows where they are now, cos I haven't a clueđŸ€”

Oh, okay! Yeah, we got those too and I rescued mine from my bedroom wall and put them back in the album! Will look later - gotta run!
