Paul Collaborating with Kanye West

Does this mean Paul is going to go around covering one eye and making triangles with his hands?
and grabbin his crotch? :
You know, I guess it's my age but I can't stand that grabbing at the crotch stuff and I would certainly not like to see Paul do that. He is tooooo refine to me for that
-
I think Paul should do whatever he wants. Sounds like this could be interesting. I really don't care about Kanye's personality or whatever..I will wait until I hear the finished song or songs, and then judge the musical outcome.

You have several teammates....me included.

Say it ain't so, Paul. I will try to keep an open mind about this. I have a hate/love regard for Kanye West. He speaks the ugly-truth, not unlike John Lennon, but his leviathan ego just turns my stomach. Oy vey. Let's hope that Paul doesn't DARE try to rap.
It sounds like Paul is doing this, so I am holding on to judgement until I hear it. Personally, I didn't like what Kanye did to Taylor Swift, it was not cool at all. This is the one area of music that I am least able to understand and I would not enjoy hearing Paul rapping. I do like some of Justin Timberlake's material though, so I could imagine that better. Just my personal opinion. Paul does what he does and he's the musical genius so maybe it will be something we can't imagine yet. He does have a way of pulling the proverbial musical rabbit out of the hat!

I agree with the idea that Paul is doing this because its a challenge. I think he want's to show he can do it and age doesn't stunt creative talent or ability. He might also want to remind people how versatile and experimental he is. We need to remember the general public doesn't see him that way. We know he's not new to collaborations like this, but we need to remember that they benefit him in more ways than one. His work with Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson introduced him to new audiences that otherwise would never have given anything with his voice on it a second listen. If NEW began that process again last year, then this will continue it and open new doors in a very lucrative market that few his age can manage to crack, which goes back to the challenge element. Truth be told, its impossible to deny that this is a very bold move. Now, obviously he doesn't need to do this. Paul knows that. But bringing this new market into the fold has the added benefit of being his best chance of topping charts and getting mainstream airplay for the first time in ages - both of which, IMO, Paul deserves to have happen at least once in his later career. Most of the music-buying public today has no memory (assuming they were alive) of the last time he achieved that success. Seeing that happen would be worth it to me regardless of the quality of music released. The fact is that nothing can ever erase what he's done and he's still a very active force that can reinvent himself many times over. All that being said, like most of you, I'm not a fan on Kanye (to put it diplomatically) and he wouldn't be my first choice for a collaboration. But my respect and interest in Paul is stronger than my repulsions of the former, so I'll definitely be giving this a listen. After all, I'm not a jazz standards fan but still found KOTB enjoyable, so Paul can introduce us to new ways of seeing things just as he introduces himself to new people... Like Paul, I choose to be optimistic (even if cautiously so :lol

Kayne West is actually a good musician, though I have no interest in most of his headlining celeb dramas. Unfortunately, this tarnishes much of his career. I think his music is overshadowed by lots of the media he gets. No wonder some fans of Paul would be less warm to this idea. I think it's great that Paul recognised Kayne's work enough to wish to work with him.
-
I actually think it is intriguing, and as others have said, I trust Paul's instincts. We've been talking about Kanye's ability to revive Paul's commercial fortunes, but what about the positive effect on Kanye? Almost no one thinks he's a nice guy, but if Paul gives his stamp of approval, it could benefit Kanye's reputation tremendously. I just hope Kanye doesn't do something douchey and tarnish Paul!!
-
Paul has worked and been friends with people that are far more douchey than Kanye, so I'm not sure why people care so much about him not being particularly likable. Most people in the entertainment industry aren't.
-
Yeah, it could be interesting. Music aside, I just don't have any respect for Kanye as a person. He seems diametrically opposed to everything Paul believes in and supports. Hooking up with him makes Paul look even more desperate in his quest to be "relevant." Just my feelings on it. Paul will do what he wants; I just question some of the things he does.
-
And let's not forget he was the guy who hogged the stage on 12-12-12 (is it really that long ago already?!), causing Paul to come on so late that many people missed Paul's performance!
-
*smacks forehead* Didn't the Kardashians just get a house up around Paul's??? I think ET reported that the people of Long Island (or where ever it is) were not happy. Anyway...I bet while they film their show(?) Kanye has nothing to do...so he went to the neighbors house.

oh gosh im gonna pass on this one is this an attepmt to stay hip with the young crowd or something? this is worse than jimmy page teaming up with p diddy gah

Seems like many of you are brainwashed by TMZ and too much fed with stereotypes. If I would have written McCartney's music off based on the many douche-y public appearances, I would be pretty narrow-minded. If I would have concentrated solely on McCartney's public image over here, oh boy... It's the same what's happening regarding Kanye West over here now. This is Kanye West:
He's one of the most creative intriguing, passionate, honest, raw and inspirational artists of my time. Someone who puts on a 2-3 hour shows with decors never seen before, always trying to reinvent himself with every step he is taking. McCartney will be very eager to work with him from a musical perspective. This has got nothing to with scoring hits, staying hip or even thinking about McCartney trying to rap. Kanye West is so much more than that. This feels like having to explain to someone that Nickelback and The Beatles are both rock artists, but not really on the same level.Anthony B.:

Still gossip, but this would be mega. Kanye West is one of the biggest musical geniuses of my generation, and it would be a musical dream to see him collaborating with Paul McCartney.
I think you're using the term "musical genius" a little generously here. Kanye West is certainly talented at what he does, but a musical genius...that's a stretch (and a long one at that, IMO, haha). I'm going to try and keep an open mind, and reserve judgement until something is released (IF something is, in fact, released).
Not a stretch for a big audience in the last 10 years: http://www.metacritic.com/music/my-beautiful-dark-twisted-fantasy/kanye-west http://www.metacritic.com/music/yeezus/kanye-west http://www.metacritic.com/music/college-dropout/kanye-west

No!!! I don't think it would be a good collaboration with Kanye would be good. Yeah, Paul has done good duets in the past, like with Michael Jackson and Stevie Wonder. However, I think such a duet would diminish Paul's raw talent.
-
I think I'll reserve judgment until I hear the music they produce. That's a pretty radical thought, I guess, but it seems appropriate.
-
Did I hear the words 'creative' and 'genius' and 'generation' get thrown around near Mr Kardashian's name? Gawd, I might be able to handle the collaboration if I found the guy all of the above.... but I simply have found nothing in this guy that I like. I don't like the genre of his music, and I don't find anything in his contribution to it that could forece a rethink. Hopefully Orlando Bloom lands another one before Biebs gets a gig on tambourine.

If I had heard of Kanye West no doubt I would have had an opinion ...... ops:
The only thing I can tell you was that during an awards show several years back, he trashed Taylor Swift right up on the stage because he thought someone else should've won the award Swift won...that's about the extent of my knowledge of him...LOL
I know of him as mainly the other half of a Kardashian. Is it Kim ? I don't know any Kanye West songs, probably heard something but didn't know it . I assume he's a rapper. I usually turn rap off as a rule . It usually is just moronic BS. PAUL CAN DO AS HE WISHES, IT IS HIS LIFE & CAREER. But I hope it is not just because he thinks it will prove he is still hip. At his age I think he doesn't have anything to prove, his body of amazing work speaks for itself.

My opinion of rap is best summed up from a quote by George Harrison: Three songs and I feel like killing someone
-
I don't know any of his music so I can't make a comment Kanye West. If this music pops up on the next Fireman album it might be worth a listen. The Fireman goes Urban
